LA's Superhumanoids are set to release their debut album, Exhibitionists , on June 11th via Innovative Leisure . We already heard the breezy slice of pop, "So Strange," from the LP, we now get another soothing number "Bad Weather." It is modern easy listening and we cannot get enough. Stream it below.
We are a little under two weeks away from the release of Smith Westerns' third LP, Soft Will , via Mom + Pop . The band has a much more mature sound on this one with impeccable song construction and higher production. We have already heard "Varsity" and "3am Spiritual," now listen to "Idol." If these three songs are any indication, this is going to be a strong release. Tour [...]

After six long years, soul garage rockers King Khan & The Shrines ready to release the Idle No More on September 3rd via Merge . The opening track from the album is "Born to Die" (not a Lana Del Ray reference) that King Khan says is "an apocalyptic ode to the heinous war machine that to this day ruins our lives." If that description does not have you curious, then I am not sure what will. Find it below along with a pretty extensive [...]

Sharon Van Etten's Tramp was one of favorites last year. We still spin it on a consistent basis. "Esao Andrews" is a new song from Van Etten that was created for NYC publication ESOPUS for their audio compilations that appear with each issue. The goal for this comp was to have each musician write a original song about an artist of their choice. This song is inspired by Van Etten's friend, L.A.–based Gothic/Surrealist painter Esao Andrews. Listen below.

Auggie the 9 th is doing his part to make sure YOUR hump day is just that much better with the surprise mixtape, NOW that’s what I call Krej . Meant to tide us all over while he puts the final touches on GAWS , Krej is a collection of previously released tracks where Augustus raps raps over Flosstradamus tracks. Observant eyes will notice a post-apocalyptic Easter egg embedded in the files themselves, too. GAWS is coming soon, but NOW that’s what I call Krej! is to make sure [...]
Capital Cities haven’t taken long to establish a loyal cult following. It definitely doesn’t help to be collaborating with artists like André 3000, but it was obvious this LA duo was going to make it after we heard their first single “ Safe And Sound ” a couple years back. Well now they’re coming off the release of their debut album In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery , and we couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. “Farrah Fawcett Hair” is one of the summer’s first true dance anthems. Also featuring NPR’s Frank Tavares, it’s a fresh [...]

As a homage to her late Grandfather, Sara Retallick performs under the name Jimmy Tait and the music she makes is as quietly affecting as that sentiment would have you expect. All My Friends is the first track to be taken from her bands new record, which is due for release later this year, and it's one of those tracks that buries itself somewhere inside your head almost instantly. A somewhat bitter sentiment - "all my friends are sitting on the fence, they never rush to my defence" - comes wrapped-up in [...]

Photo By: Stefan Klapko We're a little late with this record, but "It's a Queens Thing" definitely deserves some recognition. DJ Tony Touch got Action Bronson & Kool G Rap on a track for his project Piecemaker 3: The Return Of The 50 MC’s, which is due out July 9.
Hello, I'm Brynn. I've been in love with and obsessed with music and musicians since pre-k. I went to school for it, I play piano, compose and sing my heart out on the daily. I'm here to introduce you to some sounds I live for and the people who make them-because what good is it all if you can't share it? I came across this one-man band recently, and have had his voice stuck in my brain ever since. With all the gimmicks and fancy stuff artists are throwing at you today, it's reassuring to discover a man [...]

If Freddie Gibbs is releasing new material, there's no way that he is putting out something short of great. Gangsta Gibbs is the most consistent emcee in the game and although his name has recently been on the headlines due to his beef with Young Jeezy , it is good to remember why he has achieve a serious following all around the world. "One Eighty Seven" is the latest single from his upcoming 'tape ESGN and features Problem plus production by Sap. The project is expected to drop July 9. [via Hypetrack [...]

The Baltimore Hip Hop scene is on the rise and Butch Dawson is one of the most promising up-and-comers from the area. As he prepares to release his forthcoming project Champion Ships , the emcee has dropped a new single entitled "Motive" featuring Buffa7o. If you haven't heard anything my Butch yet, the track below is a fitting introduction, enjoy.

After getting an album teaser last week, the always reliable Neko Case is giving us a new track titled "Man." The song, featuring some guitar work from M. Ward, will appear on her mouthful of an album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You , scheduled for release on September 2nd via Anti- Records . I won't get into specifics on the track. By now, you all know what to expect from a Neko song. [...]

Ernest Greene, better known as Washed Out , will be releasing his new LP, Paracosm , this August via Sub Pop . The first taste from this highly anticipated release is the psychedelic "It All Feels Right." While is share some similar drum beats with his breakout song "Feel It All Around," that is where any reference to his back catalog can stop. This is a completely new direction and refreshing to see an artist that is challenging himself with each release. Comparisons could be [...]

Mpulse recently hit up Atlanta to get some work done with his homies who are posted down there and "Basement Raps" is a joint that came out from those sessions. This one features Two-92s Reese and it was recorded at Don Cannon's basement, which spawned the name of the track. Over production by araabMUZIK, the two emcees deliver straight fire with great collaborative energy. Check it out below!

As with most of The National's albums, "Trouble Will Find Me" grew on me substantially. At first it seems a bit lackluster, but after multiple listens, the lyrics magically become more relatable and the undertones begin to find a way to stand out. The recurrence of The National's tame first impression surely has something to do with Matt Beringer's low, often monotone voice. It is undoubtably what makes The National, The National - but it takes getting used to. Once it is fully embraced though, nothing is more satisfying. "Sea of Love" is the shining moment on "Trouble Will Find [...]

ProbCause has been undoubtedly making the best music of his career these past few months and tracks like "Black and White" showcases how much he has grown as an artist. He sounds confident and poised over the boisterous production of Wes P. and Doc Tha Mindbenda , which is certainly not an easy task. The Recipe: Volume 2 is showing great promise and with July 16th being the official release date, expect to hear more from Prob soon!

Anything released by Na$im Williams is always welcomed around here, but this remix of Kid Cudi's "King Wizard" is definitely a standout mix by the Treated Crew producer. This is the perfect joint for your summer parties now that the weather is finally heating up!

outside in the golden rain Mmmm.. Yes. Ignore the umlauts, "Take Me" is more indie-tropical grooveness to flex our feet with this summer.

we've got to stick together I would not have guessed that "Human Man" is from Dallas, Texas, but coming from a guy with a name like a country star I guess it makes sense. Kinda. What does make sense is turning this indie dance jam up and kicking off Monday right! I've heard some more Stimson tracks and this guy is on point. Look out for more from him soon. And if you are near LA then catch him live on Thursday at the Blind Date event I [...]
