Thrillcall has been in the concert listings game for a few years now with a site that's similar to the likes of Songkick, Bandsintown, and JamBase. But today, they've announced a new mobile app that will offer a twist on the concert listings game - exclusive ticket offers via mobile to live music fans in [...]

Songkick, the popular concert discovery/search site, have launched their official iPhone app. Much like their website, the app allows users to search local shows, track artists, and find out when their favorite band is coming to town and much more. The app is available for free on iTunes .
Believe it or not, SoundCloud will be four years old this August. In less than five years the online audio distribution platform has exploded, facilitating collaboration, promotion, and syndication for all sorts of music. In the process, the service has created a community of over 4M deeply engaged users. Even so, I still ...

"The great power of digital distribution is that it's much easier to discover and listen to new bands. Back when we had to hunt down physical albums in stores, our rate of new artist discovery was much, much lower. That means a new band can build a widespread following much more efficiently than back-in-the-day, and can therefore do a world tour a lot earlier in their career, whereas huge, popular acts like U2 and Rolling Stones are already big as ever, and won't benefit from this additional digital distribution." Songkick.com has [...]
In a little more than a week's time we will be CMJ-ing our asses off once again! Hopping from club to club, catching the buzziest buzz bands of them all, and sipping on as much free booze as our livers can take! Of course the week wouldn't be complete without our own day time party!... Read More
You don't even have to be an online music nerd like me (and maybe you), to realise that the music industry is in a state of flux. Whatever your position on the digital democracy that music sharing online has fostered, whether you stand arm and arm with Reverend John Mclure who thinks the digital revolution has opened up the doors to a world of music you might never have heard, or you stand behind Lilly Allen who rather hypocritically thinks it's an evil theft of an artists work whilst sitting pretty on a major label and making her own mixes [...]
Over the past few years, as this whole web 2.0 thing has really grown and progressed, we've seen a number of new sites launch that are specifically geared towards live music fans on the web. In a sense, all of them exist to help fans track and follow their favorite touring bands/artists in a variety of ways, but with a focus on their live shows rather than their studio output (which is amply covered by a slew of Music 2.0 sites and services ). While a lot of these sites have not yet emerged into [...]

I go to a lot of gigs. An abnormal amount, it would seem. Until recently I couldn't have put a number on how many concerts I've been to. I started early: When I was eight months in the womb, my parents were at a John Lee Hooker show in Greenwich Village; my dad started taking me to concerts on school nights way before I was old enough to appreciate what was going on (seeing the likes of Buddy Guy, Little Village, KD Lang, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Ely, Eric Clapton) and in 2009 alone I've already been to 70 shows. [...]

If like me you're as anal about music, I think you're gonna like SongKick . And if you like pointless lists, you're gonna love it. Essentially it's yet another social networking site but unlike Twitter et al, it actually serves a purpose. At least, after several hours spent on it already, that's what I'm trying to convince myself. You see, the purpose of SongKick is to track your gig going habits and link you with people who went to the same gigs. The idea is to build up an ever expanding archive of [...]
You've probably heard of Discogs, the online social music cataloguing site. It's pretty boring but a great resource. The newly launched Songkick.com is the first social concert database and is way way more exciting than Discogs (thank God!) It's not just a database of previous concerts though. They have this great thing called a Songkicker which can access you I-tunes and then let you know which of your artists are playing upcoming gigs in your area so you will never have an excuse to miss another show. You can even buy gig tickets through the site [...]
my life is full of time wasters, both good, bad and awesome. an example of a bad time waster would be playing tyson's punch out throughout the day, but its also a bad awesome. it gets confusing i know. anyway, i appreciate when time wasters are also awesomely helpful, cause lord knows i need it, help that is. an example of an awesomely helpful timewaster is songkick , which just happened to come out of beta today. songkick, amongst other things, is an amazing past, present and future concert tracker. since i have been using it, about a month [...]

Luna on Songkick Almost a year ago a friend of mine put me in touch with Ian Hogarth one of the founders of gig tracking site Songkick . Ian told me that they were planning a new version of the site and was interested in meeting up to talk me through what they were planning and how I, or more specifically A Head Full of Wishes, might be able to help. I met Ian and Michelle from Songkick over a lemonade in a pub in Shepherds Bush where they outlined, with huge enthusiasm, what they [...]
