Those of you following us on Twitter will have heard us mention earlier this week that we'd " just heard a festival headliner "rumour" so mental it has blown my mind. GOBSMACKED " ...well, it seems The Daily Star have gone and blown all our secrets out of the water - today they confirmed that this year's Sonisphere Festival headliners in the UK will be Faith no More and Queen....fronted by Adam Lambert . Yes, you read that correctly. We should point out that at the [...]
Well, this week Sonisphere finally broke their silence and announced some of the bands that will be playing their Spanish and Finnish festivals this year. As yet there's still no names for Knebworth, and as Metal Hammer noted , some of the names that are playing in Madrid and Helsinki are playing Download in the UK, and therefore seem highly unlikely to make the UK edition of Sonisphere. But it got us thinking - what bands could be playing at Knebworth this year? Now if [...]

What's the best way of getting our attention? Send us something in the post. A Christmas card will do nicely! THANKS, BLACK SPIDERS!! Everyone loves getting proper mail. E-cards just don't cut it. We might slightly disagree with them spelling "Michaelmas" as "Micklemass" but whatever. It's the thought that counts and the fact they know that Michaelmas is a thing at all deserves extra props. Black Spiders were the protagonists of one of our favourite interviews of 2011. It was at Sonisphere Festival when [...]
Reunited Seattle grungers, Soundgarden have confirmed that they're finally making their way over to Europe for Rock Am Ring on 01 June and sister festival, Rock Im Park on 03 June. Could this mean they're finally coming over to the UK to play some shows? EXCITING. Some people are worried that EFestivals has said that it's been confirmed as a German exclusive performance. That just means it's their only show in Germany. They're going to be announcing more European shows, don't you worry about that. Sonisphere Festival will take place [...]
We go to festivals. We go to festivals and sometimes we see bands, other times we just sit in the ruddy media centre talking to bands on camera and posting videos and photos on the internet. It sounds more glamorous than it is. Luckily you always end up with a load of stuff that we've done from as many of the festivals we can physically go to. We go to a lot of them though. This means that we like some more than others. Let's talk about that... -- Raziq Rauf [...]
First it was on. And then it was off. Then someone said it might happen at some point. So what do all these on-again off-again Black Sabbath reunion rumours actually mean? We kicked Hugh Platt awake and demanded he bitch and moan about the subject for 1000-odd words. Bloody hell, Hugh, hurry up and get to [...]

The best things are worth waiting for though, eh? We sent Paul Caudell to Sonisphere a little over a month ago, and here's his review. Photos by Ben Gibson ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/h ideoutbenphotography/ ). Sonisphere was back for it's 3rd year and we couldn't have be more excited. It was bigger, it was louder and it was thrashier than before. We set off from London to Knebworth House with the Muso's Guide 'Palace of Dreams' in hand and a whole lot of jagermeister to embark on a metal encrusted rock'n'roll weekend, we did it just for you, [...]
The guys from Vintage Trouble were the first to admit their retro-stylings were a little out of place at Sonisphere Festival 2011, but just like their music did to the crowds earlier, their interview technique more than won over our man Amit. Vintage Trouble @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 setlist Blues Hand Me Down Still And [...]
You know what we thought when we woke up on the final day of Sonisphere Festival 2011? "No bands have told us any stories this weekend about how they double-teamed this girl they met that one time". And then our interview The Ocean Between Us happened. Check out the rest of our Sonisphere Festival 2011 [...]
We might take the piss out of My Passion for a lot of things, but one thing we'll always give them is that they know how to give a good interview. If we're going to be poking a band's proverbial bollocks for 10 minutes, it all goes so much smoother when the subject of said poking [...]
We know we've been talking a lot about funerals during our backstage interviews at Sonisphere Festival 2011, but we weren't expecting Glamour Of The Kill to have planned their own send-off in quite so much detail. Whiskey shots and high-5s next to an open coffin? Count us in - sounds a hell of a lot [...]
Sometimes people accuse Thrash Hits of not taking our music journalism seriously. Well, we expect that to change after people see our interview with Sylosis backstage at Sonisphere Festival 2011. Who else is finding out if Reading thrash bands have seen certain TV movie adaptations of Stephen King novels? No-one else, that's who. Sylosis @ [...]
What have Pat Metheny and Zinedine Zidane got to do with our old friends Rolo Tomassi headlining the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage at Sonisphere Festival 2011? At the same time as Metallica played the Main Stage, no less? You'll have to watch our interview to find out. Rolo Tomassi @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 setlist [...]
Become the biggest home-grown rock band in Denmark? Check. Release an album that tops the charts all over Europe? Check. Tour North America opening up for Metallica? Check. So what does Michael Poulsen from Volbeat have to aim for now? We went to find out, backstage at Sonisphere Festival 2011. Volbeat @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 [...]
On the one hand, with a name like "Arcane Roots" we're disappointed that the London-based 3-piece aren't some messed-up blackened doom band. On the other hand, we're pleased at the variety of facial hair styles they display. We reckon that balances it out. Arcane Roots @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 c/o Ben Gibson Check out the [...]
Yeah, yeah - that's a promo picture of The Wildhearts, when technically it was just "Ginger Wildheart" performing. It's the nicest photo we've got of him. Maybe we should've added some corpse-paint with photoshop though, to match his stage-attire for his Sonisphere Festival performance? Ginger Wildheart @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 c/o Cochi Esse Ginger Wildheart [...]
It's perversely refreshing to see that in amongst all the young turks filling up the Bohemia Stage line-up, someone somewhere in the Sonishpere booking team values the talent and dependability of the British rock institution that is Paradise Lost. Paradise Lost @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 c/o Cochi Esse Paradise Lost @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 setlist [...]
At some point we're sure we'll see the end-result of Protest The Hero's frontman, Rody Walker, wearing a camera on his head for much of their Sonisphere set. For the time being, we'll just look at our pictures of it and marvel at how weird it looks. Protest The Hero @ Sonisphere Festival 2011 c/o [...]
James Monteith is a busy boy. When he isn't writing Djently Does It, his excellent semi-regular column for Thrash Hits, or being a press officer for a load of kickass bands, he still manages to find the time to play guitar in TesseracT. We don't know how he does it. We can't even find the time [...]
