http://thesorrykisses.bandcamp .com/ I'd not heard of The Sorry Kisses until the release of 'Keep Smiling', the duo's third album which jumped right out of the proverbial page from the very first listen. I'm yet to hear those first two releases so I'll keep my comments purely on the latest release (I'll be correcting that once I get chance) though this is apparently the heaviest thing they've released to date. For me at least, it's been a pretty wonderful starting point... Comprising of singer Hayley Hutchinson and guitarist Sam Forrest (formerly of Nine Blacks [...]

Sam & Hayley Hutchinson from The Sorry Kisses In keeping with our fem fatale singers theme this week. Here's a a couple crushers that could easily mystically cut you up with their guitars or voice or both! Leaving behind a puddle of manhood from their gaze if they so deemed but they'd surely prefer to keep you standing for their performance because they want to be adored as they should be! ALBUM REVIEW: First up here's the UK's The Sorry Kisses new one Keep Smiling [...]

Hot on the heels of our Flashguns post comes another new band, indie duo The Sorry Kisses who release their album Keep Smiling later this month (21st Feb). Theirs is a sound lovingly carved from the 90s US slacker alt-rock movement and freshened up with some sunny, fuzzed-up surf pop that combines to make a pretty heady and beguiling brew. It's the sort of sound that easily prompts guitar descriptors like crunch, buzz and jangle... So think The Lemonheads and Beach House [...]
I find myself comparing this rifftastic song from The Sorry Kisses to bands like Hole, The Breeders or even Dressy Bessy as long as we're playing this game. The group is a side project of Sam Forrest from Nine Black Alps, teamed with the excellent girl-rock voice of Hayley Hutchinson. The group's formula isn't complicated: [...]

No Imagination by Sam Forrest ALBUM REVIEW: Please meet Sam Forrest's 3rd solo effort No Imagination which finds him moving away from the straight up acoustic/folksy guy in the back shed to the do-it all himself rockband (including drums). This North Yorkshire creator/guitarist has added some noise on rediscovery of the sonic youth adding some nice layers of feedback to the palette of man vs songs and is at the top of his craft. No Imagination will give purveyors of sounds a couple subtle winterly chills that [...]

'Um and Ah' is the second full length album release by the UK-based musical outfit, The Sorry Kisses . Following the successful release of their debut album 'Hard Drive' on Desert Mine Music in 2008, the core duo - Hayley Hutchinson and Sam Forrest - set about writing their second effort. Yet again it's all been self-recorded, though that's not to say that there is anything DIY about the finished product. The whole album can be seen as an ode to the American West Coast as seen through a kaleidoscope of styles ranging from Flaming Lips-esque sun-frazzled pop to [...]

Not him ... But them... Kong Genre: Punk From: Manchester, United Kingdom Kong (not to be confused with Holland's Kong ) are from Manchester of that there is no doubt whatever about that. Their myspace site confirms that Manchester is their home but you wouldn't know it if you listened to them. [...]
