January 20-21 saw the postponed Storm Festival ( from February 11-12 due to persistent rains ) taking their moniker very seriously, as they took Coorg by storm. The fest was headlined by bands Indian Ocean , The Raghu Dixit Project , Leslie Lewis and Swarathma , along with DJs Richard Durand, Judge Jules and Henrik B (the rest of the lineup is here ). After a fairly exciting Sulafest in 2011, the wine makers are back with a tantalising lineup. The event, scheduled for two days this time around, has the amphitheater bringing together a mix of performers that will encompass genres of rock, electronica, reggae, folk and blues. Mirroring the 2011 lineup, Chicago blues veteran Buddy Guy will be headlining alongside performances by guitarist Jonny Lang and Matt Schofield, as well as vocalist Shemekia Copeland. The Indian contingent taking the stage will be Shillong blues band Soulmate, Kolkata's Saturday Night Blues featuring Ehsaan Noorani, and Mumbai's Luke Kenny Mojo Jukebox. The Mahindra Blues Festival will take place at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai on February 5 and 6, 2012. Storm festival, which was slated to take place on November 11 and 12, got postponed due to heavy rains . They have now announced their new domestic lineup for the January 20 and 21 dates. The recently concluded Bacardi NH7 Weekender saw much happiness during, and a plethora of photo albums flooding everybody's Faceboo k feeds after. In fact, the festival saw such a great response that someone claimed it even "rocked Mumbai" . Amidst all of that, local graphic designer Sukrit Nagaraj, also an aspiring photographer, clicked some photos at the festival. However, whilst editing his photos he realized he wanted to do something different, considering everyone was uploading photos anyway. The Dewarist Stage with its layer of cushions and beds across the grass started out laid-back and moved into arm-waving, body-hopping merriment. Headlining was Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Imogen Heap , and the acts that created foot-stomping ecstasy were The Raghu Dixit Project and Soulmate . The Storm Festival has made major additions to its lineup, having announced its first lineup last month. Apart from adding electronica/dance artists, Storm has added some big-name Indian indie artists like The Raghu Dixit Project (pictured above), Indian Ocean , Lesle Lewis (of Coke Studio and Colonial Cousins fame) and Soulmate , which makes this folk/fusion lineup very exciting indeed. Shillong blues act Soulmate recently placed Vapour, Gurgaon on Wedsneday, October 12. Currently on tour (deets here ), the band is scheduled to play New Delhi , Chennai and Guwahati this month. Shillong blues act Soulmate played Blue Frog on Tuesday, September 21. For a Tuesday night, the gig had a fairly large turnout and the band played a career-spanning set, debuting a couple of new tracks as well. Both the protagonists - guitarist Rudy Wallang and vocalist Tipriti 'Tips' Kharbangar - were on form, though we wish the latter had sung a few more songs. While this performance wasn't as gripping as their gig at the same venue two years ago , it was still a pretty solid outing for the band. Side note: Opening act [...]

South Mumbai venue Valhalla has announced a day-long gig on August 14 featuring Soulmate , Blackstratblues (pictured), Indus Creed , Adil and Vasundhara amongst other local and outstation acts. A total of 15 artists, spanning various genres will perform at the concert that starts at noon on the eve of Independence Day. Shillong blues act Soulmate performed as New Delhi's 1 Boulevard on Wednesday, July 27. The venue is located in Saket, behind an array of malls and amidst other pubs and similar venues. The stage seemed a little cramped, with the musicians lined up one behind another, which was a little peculiar. Soulmate started their set about 10.15pm, and the place had totally filled up by then. Guitarist Rudy Wallang began with a request to all the people near the stage, to refrain from smoking. Nevertheless smoke could be seen swirling above the on-stage LED lights. Shillong blues act Soulmate kicked off their 'Sunshine Tour' at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai to a sizeable audience on Tuesday, July 19. The first half of their nearly two-and-a-half-hour set was decidedly less lively than the second half, which saw frontlady Tipriti 'Tips' Kharbanger come to form. The highlight of the night however, was Warren ' Blackstratblues ' Mendonsa joining the band on stage for a two-song cameo, to much applause and shouts for an encore. While this was another efficient outing by the band, one couldn't help but wonder just how awesome the band would've been had [...]

Persona La Ave = SOULMATE You might remember my post about this song a week or so ago. I used a photo of two Leopard Slugs mating because it's probably the most interesting thing I've ever seen. It was only a matter of time before I made a video using this steamy footage. And after I heard this sexy song by Persona La Ave , it was a no brainer. It's probably the closest thing you'll ever see to a 'slug porn'.
