New jams from Krug & Co. And just when I was greedily wishing there was more Wolf Parade-related music to hear, the WP fansite posted info on a new Moonface LP. As mentioned before, the Spencer Krug -driven musical project was to eventually incorporate the collaborative works from other bands. Well, that time is apparently here, and the third Moonface LP, entitled Heartbreaking Bravery , is set to feature the musical accompaniment of Siinai . The album [...]

Spencer Krug is returning to his Moonface project and will release With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery on April 17th through Jagjaguwar. Download the first single "Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips" below and check out the track listing for the new album. Read more »

Moonface is the project of Spencer Krug , who is one of the vocalists and creative minds behind the great indie rock band Wolf Parade , as well as Sunset Rubdown . He teamed up recently with Siinai, a Finnish band of some sort. The details are a little arduous, but the results are pretty good. Teary Eyes and Bloody Lips is the lead single for the album and the sound is familar to anyone who has backgroud knowledge on Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown. Moonface will be releasing their album on April 17 [...]
Last year, Spencer Krug released Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped , his first proper album under his Moonface moniker. And in a few months, he'll follow that up with an LP called With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery . On this one, he teamed up with the Finnish band Siinai, who'd previously toured with Krug's old band Wolf Parade. Below, you can download "Teary Eyes And Bloody Lips," our first taste from the album. It's a piece of intensely buzzing new-wave, and it absolutely kicks ass. We've also got the album's tracklist. Read More...

On April 17th, Spencer Krug returns with another album from Moonface , the follow-up to last year's Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped . Titled Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravey , the 10-track effort is a collaboration with Finnish band Siinai, who previously toured with Wolf Parade in 2009 as Joensuu 1685. Recorded in Finland, the album pits Krug behind the mic and keyboard, while Siinai performs "the meat of the music," according to the album's press release. If one couldn't tell by the title already, the album revolves around - [...]
The Sunset Rubdown and Wolf Parade singer's new record is due out April 17.
Spencer Krug is probably best known for his role in Wolf Parade , but the dude's been doing solo outings for some time now. Personally, I loved his Sunset Rubdown work, even with his sometimes off-kilter vocal performances. His latest project, Moonface , now has a brand new album coming out April 17th on JagJaguwar Records , titled With Sinai: Heartbreaking Bravery . Those of you looking for something along the lines of Wolf Parade might be out of luck, [...]
Spencer Krug isn't going to take Wolf Parade's breakup and Sunset Rubdown's indefinite hiatuses as a vacation: He's readying the ... Read the full article at http://www.prefixmag.com/news/ spencer-krug-announces-new-moo nface-album-with-sii/61746/

Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown and myriad other bands most of which we probably don't even know about, has announced the release of a new album under his Moonface moniker. This quickly follows up his first full length album with this name, Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped , which came out just last August. The new album is called With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery . The first half of the album title is in reference to the fact that Krug recorded the album with a Finnish band called Siinai [...]

Spencer Krug Edition Spencer Krug is one of the hardest working and most prolific indie songwriters of this era, establishing musical acts that include Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Swan Lake, Frog Eyes, Fifths of Seven, and Moonface (not to mention the Two-Tonne Bowlers). Notably, his solo work from the Sunset Rubdown EP contains the song "Three Colours", the very song that lends its name to this blog. Today's Hump Day Power Play features songs from the tortured genius that is Mr. Krug. What I've always found so interesting [...]

New song from Moonface In early August, Moonface (aka Spencer Krug) released his second LP entitled Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped . Apparently, the song posted below, "The Way You Wish You Could Live In The Storm", did not fit in well with the rest of the album and was ultimately cut from the record. It's a good one. Also, Moonface has announced more US tour dates which kick off this month. See below for a city near you. Notably, Moonface has been playing an [...]
Moonface, the current recording moniker of Wolf Parade/Frog Eyes/Sunset Rubdown genius Spencer Krug, is coming to the Firebird on October 25th. Fans of the weird, the dreamy and the colossal in m... Continue reading "Spencer Krug's Moonface Is Coming To The Firebird" >
(Right Link + "Save Link As" = Download) Moonface - "Return to the Violence of the Ocean Floor" Moonface - "Fast Peter" While I'm certainly not a Spencer Krug fanatic (ie. I never tried Swan Lake , I enjoy only about half of Sunset Rubdown's discography ), his most recent solo record under the moniker Moonface is hitting the spot. While influential sites are giving mediocre reviews of Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped , I find the record relaxing [...]
Guess who's back, back again. Spencer is back. Tell a friend. Seriously, though, tell a friend. They might not know one of Wolf Parade's lead singers has a new record out. It's hard to keep track of this shit. Spencer Krug is indeed back for more, and his absurdly and descriptively titled Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped follows 20102s Dreamland EP: Marimba and Shit-drums as one of the most unambiguously titled records in recent memory (Norm Macdonald's Me Doing Standup coming in at close third). But the title of Spencer [...]

Sometimes it seems like Spencer Krug is competing with Nick Thorburn (of Islands and The Unicorns) to see who can start the most side projects. At least that would provide some explanation for their respectively astronomical outputs under so many different names. But the truth is that Krug just loves making and playing music. That much is obvious after Thursday night's Moonface show at DC's Black Cat Backstage. In the battle between Nicky Diamond and The One Man Wolf Pack, I root for Krug. And that's even taking Michael Cera on bass into consideration. [...]

Trey Kerby didn't invent being a chill bro, but he perfected it. Spencer Krug is probably a jerk. For one, he's named Spencer. Then there is that one time he grew a mustache for no reason. He's wearing a headband in his Wikipedia picture, which he didn't choose, but it still counts because that means the best available picture of him is in a headband. Plus, as everyone knows, he plays in a million bands, all of whom write similar music, typically about horses, and have either animal or astrological names. Surely [...]

One thing we know for sure, Spencer Krug hates down time. Since his debut release in 2002 with Frog Eyes, Krug has released 15 full length albums and 5 EP's under 6 different monikers ( Fifths of Seven , Sunset Rubdown , Frog Eyes , Moonface , Swan Lake , and Wolf Parade ). His latest album will come from his Moonface side. Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped does actually have a story behind the title. Krug explained in a press release that originally he had intended to write an [...]

Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown fame released a new song yesterday via his solo project Moonface 's website. With plans to release his solo album Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I'd Hoped on August 2nd, the new track is surprisingly not from the forthcoming LP. As Krug explained on his website, "Here, take this. It's a song that was cut from the record - an angry duck that didn't get along with the other songs on the Organ Music LP. That is not to say it's a bad song (though [...]
MP3 Coming from Spencer Krug himself, a Canadian singer-songwriter known for his work in numerous bands I enjoy, a track from his new Moonface project. The solo effort will be seeing a full-length debut on Jagjaguwar on August 8th . "The Way You Wish You Could Live In The Storm," is a new Moonface song, but we're only hearing it because it was cut from the forthcoming album. According to a block of text posted with the song, it's "an angry duck that didn't get along with the other songs on [...]
