As we approach the end of yet another year, we find ourselves looking back -- not just at the good (of which next week we'll be discussing plenty of, with the publication of the Thrash Hits Albums Of The Year lists), but the bad. Over the past twelve months, some of our favourite bands decided [...]
When Cathedral announced back in May that they were going to play their final ever live show on 03 December 2011 at the London Kentish Town Forum, a little part of us crossed its fingers and hoped that something would come along and change Lee Dorian and co.'s minds. With the gig now a mere [...]

EMI is likely to be sold as two separate units , Reuters is reporting. Top bidders for publishing are Sony/ATV and BMG. Warner Music Group and Universal are bidding for the label side of EMI. Reversing what an ongoing musical trade imbalance, MTV finally brings global music to US : The MTV Iggy Show will debut Monday on MTV2, MTV and its own website . The weekly half-hour show will include videos and stories from around the globe. Nope, Iggy Pop is not the host. Call the [...]

Baltimore's Ponytail have announced that they have broken up in a statement from the We Are Free label. Makers of day-glo nonsensical spazz-rock that was close to my heart, they will be missed. "We regret to inform you that the wonder group known as Ponytail have officially called it a day. After releasing their amazing album Do Whatever You Want To All The Time they were unable to make the touring portion come to life as the members have dispersed across the country in search of other life experiences. It's a bummer [...]

The Middle East announced on their Facebook page a few hours ago that the band are done. Their debut album I Want That You Are Always Happy was released on June 3rd and I had not even got around to listening to it properly yet. However, the band gave me one of my best gig experiences of my life in Austin, Texas in 2010 so I'll always be grateful to them for that. Whatever happened (the Townsville, Australia band had briefly split before), whether they were sick of playing their two early [...]
According to guitarist Blake Sennett, Rilo Kiley have split. The band have been on hiatus since touring their 2007 album Under the Blacklight but Sennett insists there will be no reunion. In an interview with Spinner.com , Blake says: "I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don't really want to submit myself to. I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, 'I'm not going to put myself in that position again,' so I said, 'F- that, I can't do this anymore.'" Sounding [...]
Another great British band is no more as The Ghost Of A Thousand announce they're calling it a day.
Yet another promising young British band has decided to sign off before 2010 crashes to a close - fresh-faced London grind kids Throats have decided to split up. In the band's own words, they "are thinking about a last show but it's not 100% certain yet." For Fuck's Sake, 2010. Stop killing our bands. Throats [...]
When we heard one of our favourite British bands of the last few years, Rinoa, had decided to call it a day, we'll admit we almost shed a tear or two. So there was no way in Hell Hugh Platt was going to miss their final London show. Why is it that the worst of [...]
Since Poison The Well announced they were going on hiatus earlier this week, we've been hitting their back catalogue pretty hard in a feckless display of audio-mourning. We figured you might as well join us, so we've knocked up a Poison The Well-themed Slaylist so you can share our despair. We didn't limit ourselves to [...]
Officially, the bollock-busting post-hardcore mob that is Poison The Well haven't split up, but have merely gone "on haitus". But we all know that really means "we've split up, but this way we can still get together and do a tour and maybe put out another record in five years if we get bored / [...]

Just after the release of their Breakbot Remix and announcing the next single 'We Can't Fly' it seems Vito of Aeroplane is now flying solo. 'Everybody... Thank you for you support messages ! There's no co-pilot anymore, but i'll make sure Aeroplane keep flyin...' Check out the tweet if you don't believe me. Maybe they couldn't fly together? Ubbs

This is supposedly to be a blog spending lots of its time telling you about NEW London acts - but instead, just this once, I'm going to tell you about an OLD band that I'm pretty sure are now long gone. Nostalgia on an autumnal, drizzly Sunday - it seems appropriate, really. The band is Red Eye Banquet. [...]

Troppo complicato, troppo conflittuale [...]
Yep, there's some real panic in the Fueled By Ramen disco today as songwriter and guitarist, Ryan Ross and bassist, Jon Walker have left emo starlets, Panic At The Disco (Formerly Panic! At The Disco) to start a new band. They cite musical differences which basically means the surely irreplaceable Ryan Ross was sick of writing crappy pop songs which nobody really likes and needs to further his spirit or something. Wiggly larynxed frontman, Brendon Urie and drummer, Spencer Smith are remaining in the band and will be supporting No Doubt across [...]

Following the cancellation of a several shows earlier this year after guitarist Dorian Cox suffered a stroke, The Long Blondes , have announced they have split up. In a blog posting on the group's MySpace , Cox announced the break-up. "We have decided to call it a day," wrote Cox . "The main reason for this is that I suffered from a stroke in June and unfortunately I do not know when/if I will be well enough to play guitar again." [...]

Hoje, a banda anunciou que já era, tiveram que se separar. Com vocês, o guitarrista explicando as razões: We have decided to call it a day. The main reason for this is that I suffered from a stroke in June and unfortunately I do not know when / if I will be well enough to play guitar again. Well its official, Be Your Own Pet have split up. The Nashville band has announced that, following their forthcoming UK tour, they will go their separate ways.
