After a couple of lackluster seasons, American Idol caught fire again this year. New judges and a lowered age requirement resulted in the best bunch of talent to come along since... well, that's up for debate. (We say since Adam Lambert took the stage during Season 8, but we're sure you've got your own favorites.) Last night the American Idols Live! tour rolled into Los Angeles, and we couldn't resist heading over to the Nokia Theater to see the Top 11 strut their stuff. The American Idol finale wasn’t just all about performances last night. There were a few segments thrown in there two. They did a sort of roast video for the judges with Randy Jackson’s showing how many times he said people are “in it to win it”; Steven Tyler’s showing lots of clips of him saying crazy things, inappropriate things and curse words; and Jennifer Lopez’s just showing how much everyone loves her. Oh, Stefano Langone. We didn't know you, then we fell in love with you during your powerful wild-card rendition of "I Need You Now" which got you saved by the judges... and then we became indifferent after realizing that that amazing performance was a fluke. So we're not surprised to see you voted off American Idol , but we are a little disappointed you weren't able to give us another shining moment. Katy Perry and Kanye West performed "E.T." on American Idol tonight, and they were awesome! Accompanied by her "extraterrestrial" dancers, Katy wore a white crown, a long cape, and a form-fitting bodysuit that flickered with pink LED lights. Perry and West both have a history with "American Idol." Perry chipped in as a guest judge during the early rounds in season nine, at one point threatening to throw a Coke in Kara DioGuardi 's face. On last night's American Idol , the Top 7 hopefuls sang songs from the 21st century, ie, everything from 2001 on. (No, the year 2000 is not part of the 21st century, so I hope you weren't holding out for Scotty McCreery to perform Destiny's Child's "Say My Name".) With literally an entire decade of songs to choose from, the contestants did not disappoint in picking some of the weirdest, most obscure songs yet.
