Magnetic Fields: "Andrew in Drag" Last month, the new Magnetic Fields record, Love at the Bottom of the Se a , was teased as a return to form, of sorts, to Stephin Merritt's most endearing set so far, 69 Love Songs . Now we have a glimpse of his reunion with Merge Records, and yeah, many of the key elements from that 1999 LP (indelible melodies, droll lyricism, whimsical instrumentation, et al.) feel refreshingly present upon first listen. Following Monday's video for LCD Soundsystem's cover of Franz Ferdinand 's "Live Alone," we have the second of three videos to be released this week from the Record Store Day exclusive Franz Ferdinand Covers EP. Today's clip is of The Magnetic Fields frontman Stephin Merritt's cover of "Dream Again," and sees Walkmens, stereos, speakers and all kinds of audible machinery coming to life and singing along to the song. It's basically a creepy, audiophile dream. You can check out the Russell Weekes-directed video in the player above.

Earlier this year, Franz Ferdinand released the Covers Record Store Day EP, which features a whole mess of other artists taking on Franz tunes. One of those artists was LCD Soundsystem, whose version of " Live Alone " now has a video . Another was Magnetic Fields leader Stephin Merritt, who took on Franz's " Dream Again ." Merritt's version of the song now has its own video, in which pieces of audio and video equipment, both ancient and not, come to life to sing the song. It's weirdly adorable, and it's below.
