Apparently, every now and again Steve Nieve ( Elvis Costello 's keyboardist throws private concerts at his house in Paris and invites musicians to perform there. This time around Annie Clark of St. Vincent was invited and performed (presumably among other songs) her Brian Eno cover of "Some Of Them Are Old" . The accompanying video has her performance superimposed over shots of the Mojave Desert, barren landscapes, long empty highways, and dirt roads. I'm a little late on this review, but the show was too good not to share some pics.  These are from the St. Vincent show up at Bogart's in Cincy earlier this month.  We saw her back when she was opening for The National and immediately fell in love.  Merry Me was a constant spin, as was Actor . I'm having trouble breathing just looking at this... One of the most interesting talents to appear on the scene in the past few years is St. Vincent, the nom de rock of Annie Clark, whose first album, the excellent Marry Me , came out in 2007. It was followed in 2009 by the equally good  Actor , and then most recently, in September 2011, by the even more equally good (ha) Strange Mercy . • St. Vincent - Cheerleader

Waiting on St. Vincent to follow up her much loved album Strange Mercy with new material. Well, wait no longer. St. Vincent will be releasing two new songs on a red 7" vinyl for Record Store Day (April 21st) this year. The two new songs are "KROKODIL" and "GROT". 4AD has also announced that St. Vincent's live session with 4AD will be released as an iTunes exclusive on April 10th. Fans anticipating St. Vincent ’s Record Store Day contribution - a 7” red vinyl single featuring new songs “KROKODIL” and “GROT” - now have another release from Ms. Clark to look forward to. A track for the song "Cheerleader," which comes off the latest St. Vincent album, Strange Mercy . The album made it onto my list of favorite albums from 2011 , and you can check our review of it here . Look for this album now on 4AD. A lot like the video for " Cruel ," this song's video deals with being singled out, critiqued, controlled. The ending is just as depressing, too.

Annie Clark is keeping it together despite falling apart over her new video for “Cheerleader” off her third album, “Strange Mercy” released last September. Hailed as one of the best albums of the year, the Berklee College of Music dropout and current New York resident’s music teeters between whimsy and madness.
