Danish producer Galimatias has been on LT32s radar since he dropped the superb Luna Soul EP , a wicked collection of garage-inspired downtempo. As a result, it brings us great pleasure to announce the release of a new Galimatias EP, Strawberries , on our very own LessThan3 Recordings . Strawberries is a dreamy, chilled out track that is just as sweet as it's namesake. The song slowly builds up as percussions, vocal cuts, phasing effects, and a hypnotic lead join forces to take the listener on a [...]
Ken Hayakawa - Strawberry So, strawberries. I am very fond of strawberries. One time I went to a house party wearing a strawberry-patterned sweater vest and matching strawberry earrings (yes, that was a long time ago) and it landed me one of the top three makeout sessions of my life. Windowsill. Corridor. Bruises. This has nothing to do with the track itself, maybe except that had there been music it should have been this.

An older, technology illiterate, lady went on Facebook yesterday and wished one of my current co-workers "happy birthday." This led to a number of other people echoing the sentiment. Sweet gestures and all, only problem was that it wasn't yet her birthday (it actually happens on Sunday). This would've just passed through the internet waves and been "one of those things" except a current co-worker saw these messages, thought she had forgotten about the birthday and bought her a cake. So there we were, enjoying a birthday cake on someone's not birthday because somebody doesn't know how to use Facebook. [...]
“i don't wear rubbers and i don’t wear sunscreen.”

Yoni Wolf has big plans for retirement: “Your mom, she sits while her hair is in curlers / Smokes weed and listens to that Garrison Keillor / That’s how I’ll live when I quit my rap career / Let her laughter pass the rafters and go out into the atmosphere.” This is “Strawberries,” the second official single off of Mumps, Etc. , the fourth full-length album from Wolf’s crew, better known as WHY? The group has always straddled genres in a way that makes anyone describing their music uncomfortable—critics often grasp [...]
Genre-bending rockers WHY? lead the best parade ever in their new video for “Strawberries,” the second single from the group's upcoming album Mumps, Etc. The video is an all-out happy fest that goes just nicely with the track's whistling and tinkering xylophones. The camera zeroes in on Yoni Wolf as he leads a colorful crew, all the while proclaiming “I am not okay, boys.” Here’s to hoping this festive block party cheers him up a bit. Mumps, Etc. is due October 2 via Anticon , [...]

Featured on WHY?’s forthcoming album Mumps, “Strawberries” is that joint you will be bumping this fall. It’s fucking great.

Why? releases their second single, "Strawberries", off their upcoming new album Mumps, Etc. that's dropping on October 9th.
Nipping at the ragged heels of their eagerly devoured Sod in the Seed EP, WHY? at last unleash their fifth LP on Oct. 2nd, a meticulous work of morbid fascination and offbeat romanticism dubbed Mumps, etc . Check out the free MP3 download Strawberries. As great as the Sod in the Seed EP was, I have the feeling the full length is going to be even better.

WHY? have unveiled the second single from their forthcoming new album, Mumps, Etc. , which is released on October 8th via City Slang. If you liked ' Jonathan's Hope ', then you're probably gonna dig 'Strawberries' too, which reflects the overall sound/feel of Mumps, Etc. , which took shape over their acoustic tour from last year.

For someone who cooks as much as I do, it’s something of a wonder that I’ve made it this far in life without ever having baked (or even eaten!) strawberry-rhubarb pie. It’s relatively standard as far as spring-time pies go, and I know what rhubarb is all about (looks like red celery; leaves are poisonous), but I’ve just never done it. I decided this would be the year I add strawberry-rhubarb pie to my portfolio. One of the tricky things about strawberry-rhubarb anything is that the seasons of these two ingredients overlap for just [...]
Jam City Strawberries Obsessed with Jam City’s Classical Curves album. I love it so much I want to marry it. It’s like he sampled the best of the 80s and 90s, added some spaced out synths, slinking compression, dramatic snaps and odd tempo layers of these fucked up, jazzy organ beats. It’s Michael and Janet Jackson’s discography (and Prince really) meets Futuretrap. I was going to actually take the time to write about the entire release but time is something I don’t have a lot of these days. That and [...]
Chigadaging - Ukulélé Club de Paris "It's just great that you're back!" Yeah, mighty! "How was the flight? What did you eat? Have you eaten? What would you like to eat? I have chicken, turkey, ham, steak-" Mum... "Oh right, something ... Continue reading

We women are constantly reminding each other that we support one another. We welcome and share each other's ideas. We compliment each other on our clothing choices and haircuts. We boast about each other's cooking skills. We raise a glass to each other's promotions, raises, and career accomplishments. We tell each other that we all have a choice to be a single working woman, a working mom, a stay-at-home mom. We see other women's successes as our own, and as a celebration of woman-kind. Or, do we? I tend to think of myself as both a 'girl's girl' [...]

[photo by nyctaper] I can't imagine that Robert Christgau gets out to many shows these days. But last Saturday at Cake Shop , there he was at Wussy 's first NYC show in almost two years. I suppose its a bit of a novelty that one of the current favorite bands of a legendary music critic is a relatively obscure self-described "midwestern drone" outfit. But Christgau has it right. As the current band of Chuck Cleaver, the leader of 90s underground legends The Ass Ponys , Wussy is a solid guitar-bass-drums quartet with [...]
Strawberry by Wussy Some odd and slightly kooky garage rock from the Cincinnati band Wussy. Though the guitar riffs and hooks on this debut album of theirs are pretty catchy, the personality of the group is what burns brightest. They've got a slightly oddball quality to their music that reminds me of Devo a bit on some of these tracks-especially "Pulverized." That's not the only sound they flirt with, though. The 11 tracks on Strawberry showcase a load of different influences, making it worth it to browse through the entire thing at least once. [...]
