I fondly look back upon the gloopy, expressively organic electronica of earlier AnCo recordings – that which sticks it all together. The Feels , and the Strawberry Jam of their discography and in turn everything external to it – everything these albums have subsequently inspired. Whether that be BRAIDS, or the exhilarating lifework of Canarian Pablo Díaz-Reixa or whoever else, its impact is always extraordinarily immediate. And so we come to London-based, though Lecce-born Antonio Elia Forte, who masquerades musically as Echopark . And perhaps rather inevitably, we find ourselves lost in the perfectly woozy imperfections of Teleportation. A dew-laced soundscape [...]
After years of being underground cult favorites, Animal Collective finally broke through to the mainstream with the release of 20092s Merriweather Post Pavilion . The critically acclaimed album featured a heady mix of psychedelic soundscapes, layered, Beach Boys-esque, acid0drenched harmonies and general weirdness, and showed that the Baltimore-bred act could continue to push their musical vision, while putting out a record that was a bit more accessible than their previous work. After a three year wait, which saw solo releases from AC members Avey Tare and Panda Bear, the band will release their much anticipated [...]

On a weekly to bi-weekly basis (depending on our motivation) Dead Horse March will be giving its contributors a music related prompt to answer. They will cover a variety of topics and will hopefully act as a window into our minds, hearts, and souls, showing what we like and the path that led us there. This weeks (or month with the current pace I'm getting these out) prompt is: "What's a song, album or band you disliked at first only to love at a later date?" [...]
Animal Collective recently shared a nine minute time-lapsed video of their experiences during 2007 while recording Strawberry Jam. This is quite a vivid peek into the production process and a definite treat for Animal Collective fans who get to see some of their favorite songs come to life before their eyes- although, in true Animal Collective fashion, via frustratingly brief snippets of discordant noise. A really interesting insight into the recording process of Animal Collective's seventh studio album, 20072s Strawberry Jam. "Scott Colburn had a great idea when we were recording Strawberry Jam . He set up a video camera to take short clips of footage once a minute for the whole time we were in the studio. This is the unedited result. Our tracking session for Strawberry Jam in Tucson at Wavelab Studios in 2007." [...]

We post this about 2 weeks before we will be heading into the studio to begin recording our next record. Thanks to everyone for [...]

Back in 2007 when Animal Collective began work on what would be their seventh album, producer Scott Colburn set up a camera to take short clips at one minute intervals while the band were in the recording studio and now they have revealed the unedited footage. Here is something I wrote about TV for my brother's blog... a long long time ago...kinda edited to be relevant in 2k11...but not that much. My (ten-minute) older brother is losing his blog-grip as events in the real world catch up on him. He might have finally cottoned on to the fact that when you undertake a Ph.D, a certain amount of scientific research is involved and expected. So Ph.D is no longer Ph(eelin) (D)eadly, its Ph(uck) D(is). His last few days have been spent [...]

Created for Lady Oyster's birthday, back in March (yeah, yeah I'm just putting the recipe together), you can pretty much make peanut butter ice cream and with a little strawberry freezer jam, you'll have the perfect dessert - one that has a nearly perfect balance between salty and sweetness. Here's how to make it. Peanut Butter Ice Cream - 3/4 cup sugar - 2 eggs - 2 cups heavy whipping cream - 1 cup whole milk - 3/4 - 1 cup [...]
Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion was called the best record of 2009 even back in 2008, and as usual the band penetrated that sort of cloudiness to shine light down on everyone who was looking for it. They speak now over free french fries (and later via email) after their last Los Angeles show. Deakin (Josh Dibb) was not present on this tour. This interview by Chris Ziegler.
Ruby Weapon - Bros (Panda Bear) Yesterday's discovery definitely has another song of the day in him. An acoustic rendition of Panda Bear's Bros as well as a beautiful take on Animal Collective's My Girls from the newly released Merriweather Post Pavillion (below). Such magic is hard to come by. A video from the crowd's perspective during AC's performance at the Bataclan last month, nicely capturing the unbridled euphoria their music creates. The perfect way to start off a Monday. Posted in Video Tagged: animal collective, bataclan, fireworks, live video, paris, strawberry jam

As we reported yesterday , vinyl sales are on an unprecedented upward rise in sales. This has led some to wonder if the hype over Animal Collective's newest record - only released on LP to date - will land it on the Billboard charts. It would be a monumental achievement in any format given the band's oddly enticing brand of music, but considering the album, which won’t get released on CD until January 20, came out in a deluxe double-LP 180-gram gatefold vinyl format accompanied by a full album download [...]

Because unlike everyone else, we're still not certain if Merriweather Post Pavilion is the best Animal Collective album, we've decided to bring back their beautiful video for the single "Peacebone" from Strawberry Jam . After all, it is an unspoken music-website rule to make at least one Animal Collective post a day. Animal Collective - "Peacebone"

Taken directly from the Electric Fetus website: When: Tues., Jan. 6th Where: The Minneapolis Electric Fetus The Electric Fetus and Radio K are having a listening party for the new Animal Collective album, Merriweather Post Pavilion. The Fetus will also be taking pre-orders for the CD version which comes out Jan. 20th. Customers that pre-order [...]
Animal Collective are coming to Athens this Wednesday 22nd of October at Gagarin. I certainly want to attend but once again I will decide on this at the last minute. Nevertheless, especially after last year's stunning Strawberry Jam, this seems like a really promising live. See ya (probably) there..

2007 - The Albums That Survived... words: Jamie Milton I begun to feel a little heartless the other day when I had Spoon's 'Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga' come on shuffle. I'd obsessed over that record this time last year, seeing it as some God-send for music and yet I can honestly say I don't think I'd listened to that record once in 2008 prior to last week. But surely some of 2007's stellar releases are still making it to my play count? I'm asking the other MFM writers the [...]
