" Kill J is such a Jessie song." - nah_rez, today on gchat. Obviously, she was right. I was immediately intrigued when it was described by ATG as “It’s like if jj and Purity Ring got together, and fucccckked, and then this happened.” Maybe it's just the whole Denmark connection or maybe its the haunting, erratic deep divulging melody, but the songstress reminds me more of MØ ... Regardless, "Phoenix" is an intriguing burst of futuristic trip-pop that will have your brain reconfiguring everything it thought it knew about pop. Stream: Kill [...]

Klaus Layer is a German producer that some of y'all might know as Captain Crook. He changed up his name sometime recently and is ringing in the transition with a brand-new record. Literally. He linked with Redefinition Records to put out a flexi-disc single for his dusty, meticulously layered head-nodder, "Illest In Charge", featuring Blu . Ya know, it's been absolutely awesome watching Blu team up with so many up-and-coming producers, from L'Orange to, well, Klaus Layer. Someone really needs to put together a mix of all dude's guest features over the past year or [...]

My loves Little Daylight are responsible for some sweetly euphoric dance pop in the outputs of "Overdose" and "Name In Lights" (and my favorite remix of "Sweater Weather") and now - "Glitter & Gold." Scintillating synths and adrenalin pumping chorus make for indie pop luster that can infiltrate the dance floor. Their debut EP is out August 2nd. p.s. see them on tour with Charli XCX later this year . NYC: See them this Saturday with Tanlines, The Knocks, Haerts, Cyril Hahn and more at Full Moon Festival [...]

After thoroughly enjoying Mac Miller's Watching Movies With The Sound Off , I figured it was time to start paying attention to the dude. Both behind the mic and behind the boards. So when I saw he put a beat together under his alias Larry Fisherman for Vince Staples, I gave it a spin. The result is "Stuck In My Ways", a seemingly disjointed track that ends up coming together quite nicely by the time the hook comes around. This song will land on Staples' free album Stolen Youth , which [...]

Five years ago, Empire of the Sun descended upon the music scene in an aurora of face-paint and glitter, transfixing audiences with their debut album, Walking on a Dream . Comprised of alternative rock musicians Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, the duo styled themselves as ‘The Emperor and the Prophet’, and composed some of 2008’s most interesting electro-pop. Their long-awaited second album, Ice on the Dune, now seeks to catapult the group back into the spotlight by ditching their more abstract leanings and producing a bold record of futuristic pop music. [...]

This past weekend, Danny Brown premiered his bonkers Old single, " Kush Coma ", on BBC Radio 1. And even though we had heard most of the track before, this was the album version featuring a guest verse from A$AP Rocky. He sounds just as comfortable as his host over the synth and bass-heavy beat from Skywlkr . The same goes for Bruiser Brigade member ZelooperZ , who handles the hook without falling into, well, a kush coma himself. Oh, and did I mention that this is the final, studio version? Yes indeed. [...]
Beatmusic producer Shigeto drops the second single from this forthcoming album No Better Time Than Now. The LP is looking at an August 19th release on Ghostly , and I'm finding this new cut to be a bit more interesting than the previously dropped " Detroit Part 1 ." The rhythms throughout this very linear track are heavy, acoustic, and feel somewhat in-the-moment. It's impressive that Shigeto pulled together a track that's so jam-like-not to mention pretty on the ears. Enjoy!

Muralismo - “ Wild Eyed Friend ” [mp3] from Muralismo, out July 9 th ( bandcamp ) Taking their name from an artistic movement that focused on aspects of everyday life, this is fine chamber pop from San Francisco featuring the words and music of Mark David Ashworth. This tune is a lovely & exquisite composition, with nice mix of woodwinds and electric guitar. [...]
Need something deep to help you wind down your summer nights? Well look no further than Rufus' single "Desert Night" remixed by LA-based producer Jesse Rose ! Staying true to the feel of the original, Jesse Rose decides to give "Desert Night" just a little bit more bounce and kick by adding in a hypnotic assortment of poignant reverb, heart-pounding bass, and dance-floor percussion! Ridiculously easy to listen to, this remix is set be released soon by label Sweat It Out! Make sure to buy it once it drops!

You've heard the soulful "Hold Me" and the smoky "Dark Mind," but now you can stream (and download!) New Zealand's Janine and the Mixtape Dark Mind EP in all of its R&B-tinged, emotionally stirring glory in its entirety. With label interest from Epic, RCA and OVO to comparisons to Jessie Ware , Janine's honeyed vocals will satiate your R&B appetite. With influences ranging from "Aaliyah, Biggie, pain, loss, hope, basketball, graffiti art," the EP is a memorable expression of her tantalizing talent a singer/songwriter/producer/ins trumentalist (she produced [...]

We got hipped to the work of British singer-producer Pete Lawrie Winfield, better known as Until The Ribbon Breaks, thanks to longtime PIMB favorite Ta-ku . Earlier this month, he dropped his remix to " Pressure " and we were definitely feelin' it. Winfield then popped up on our radar again when El-P and Killer Mike revealed that Winfield will appear on their Run The Jewels album. With all that in mind, the timing couldn't be better to hear some new Until The Ribbon Breaks, which we're getting today in "20253. The track arrives with a [...]
This week, London electronic music producer Zomby is dropping his latest full-length album, With Love. It'll be on 4AD, and features over thirty tracks that span two discs. As the track "Overdose" shows, this guy is really working to diversity his sound, trying his hand at some very atomspheric, textured, and boom-y breakbeat electronica. Enjoy!

Got this new track today from Oakland's Bells Atlas , and as I was preparing this post, I took at minute to see what else we had posted from the band. How is it that a band this new keeps making such consistently fantastic music? In four months, I've posted four tracks, and I want to go listen to them all again, right now. The good news for me - and for you - is that the band has just completed their self-titled debut album, and it's streaming over [...]
Bot'Ox continue to stoke anticipation for their new album 'San Dormir' by teasing us with another EP 'Grand Boulevards' and its accompanying video. 'Grands Boulevards' isn't the typical sound you'd expect from the French duo individually - but does continues to build upon Bot'Ox's raw sound that shuns normal perceptions of what dance music can actually be. 'Grand Boulevards' is a boisterous electronic pyschobilly number that sounds like a modern day bastard son of The Cramps. The accompanying video also introduces us to the Parisians as a live entity and directed by Irwin Barbé is a [...]

'Arre Krishna', nuevo EP de Bam Bam Directo desde tierras regiomontanas llega Arre Krishna , el nuevo EP de Bam Bam que marca el regreso de la banda tras dos años de trabajo y después de su disco Futura Vía lanzado en 2011. Producido por Mou y Martin Thulin de Los Fancy Free y grabado en la ciudad de Monterrey. Esta nueva entrega incluye cinco canciones, dos forman parte de las sesiones de Futura Via y las otras tres son totalmente [...]

Here's another one off Shigeto's upcoming full-length for Ghostly, No Better Time Than Now , which drops Aug. 20 here in the States. "Ringleader" is a fitting title for the track, because it sounds like the Detroit native is standing at the center of a percussion circle. And as the instrumental progresses, you can sense Shigeto giving his players direction: "More toms!", "More shakers!", and so forth. Of course, he's the one doing all of this and meticulously layering it, so maybe we should be callin' dude a one-man band from now on. You [...]

Para escuchar "No Ground" entren aquí .

Perhaps one of the most exciting things about next week's Glastonbury Festival is Arctic Monkeys' return to the pyramid stage, six years and two albums after their controversial headline slot back in 2007. A lot has changed since then (other than Alex Turner's hair), and the four piece have come a long way since their breakthrough nearly 10 years ago, adding deeper, more surprising aspects to their sound with each release. Although material has been sparse in the last year, recent singles 'R U Mine' and 'Evil Twin' would indicate Arctic's are seeking a heavier direction [...]
