Stream: Integrity - Suicide Black Snake If you're an avid follower of this blog, you know I pump out a lot of reviews. I'm dealing with different genres every day, and it's pretty interesting to see what fans are and aren't generally in touch with the forefathers of whatever musical style they follow most passionately. Example: my recent Bring Me The Horizon review . It's an album I didn't really care for, but I got a lot of questions asked of me when I made mention [...]

It's about time Chris Alfaro announced a new Free The Robots project, as we are constantly craving his jazzy instrumentation. The new project to look forward to is the In Other Worlds EP, which sports the lead single "Transmission". The psychedelic, jazz-driven production is perhaps Alfaro's most expansive work to date. That isn't to say his previous work has been lacking, but something about this track seems more challenging and progressive. Perhaps it is the piano-laden backdrop, or the zoned-out transitions that fade in and out with every lick of the synthesizer. [ via ] Anyway, [...]

Hey you, sittin' over there, you better get up outta your chair. This new Disclosure song, "When a Fire Starts to Burn", is the definition of a dance floor jam. It stems from their forthcoming full-length LP, Settle , which keeps sounding better and better with each track that hits the web. Seriously, this is funky, bouncy, and infectious in all the best ways, and you just have to love that vocal sample. You can stream the track below. Settle drops June 4. [ via ]
SLSBS ft. Quelle Chris by Metabeats (co-produced by Ed Boogie) A new track from Metabeats, which features some cutting lyrics from Quelle Chris that deal with fame, jealousy, and the music industry. The verses truly capture the sentiments of this track's snide chorus: "SOUNDS LIKE SOME BULLSHIT!" The instrumental is pretty noisy, nutty, and offbeat-and I mean all of that in a good way. If you're digging on this track, look for Metabeats' Caviar Crackle , which will be dropping on June 25th via Associated Minds . Enjoy!
The XX and Grizzly Bear, huh? I don't know about you, but when I heard about this intriguing double bill, my mind leapt immediately to the question, "Will they form a supergroup called 'Grixxly??'" With the obvious answer being probably not, I next considered what backstage banter between the two groups might sound like… GRIZZLY [...]

To celebrate 10 years of Scion, the car company is putting together a compilation sporting music from ten stellar independent artists. Our first taste of the project also happened to be on Jonwayne 's Cassette 2 , which is a collaboration between himself and fellow rapper/producer Jeremiah Jae . This, of course, is a clean version, but it hits just as hard as it certainly does on the tape release. The Scion compilation will also feature music from the likes of Poolside, Chromatics, Harry Fraud and Smoke DZA. Tracks will drop sporadically between now and [...]

Andrew Cedermark has released the new song, "At Home", from his forthcoming album, Home Life. That album arrives July 16th via Underwater Peoples. The new album revolves around growing up only to find...
![[new]: Earl Sweatshirt – Guild (Feat. Mac Miller)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4966977_lg.jpg)
Earl Sweatshirt has a new track called "Guild" that features Mac Miller. It's sludgy sounding track with a hazy effect due to the effects that leave their vocals down an octave. It's taken from his upcoming new album Doris . Check it out below via Fader .

One of the greatest things I remember about being a kid was following labels like Lookout or Dischord or Matador , knowing that I'd love whatever they put out. It's a good thing I still stick to that sort of attitude, which is why I chose to check in today with Volar Records , who've put out things by Tropical Popsicle and Window Twins , to name but a few. One outfit they're working with, though I don't know much else, is San Fran group, [...]

We still don't know when Earl Sweatshirt's proper debut, Doris , will be released, but hey, that's perfectly fine. Why? Because dude's been slowly rolling out tracks from the album and creating a ridiculous amount of anticipation for the project. Just today he shared his collaboration with Mac Miller, "Guild", that the two performed together in Los Angeles this past March. It's a superbly blunted, codeine-laced journey through the minds of Mac and Earl, the latter of whom also produced the cut. You can listen to "Guild" below. [ via ]

Quadron 's sophomore full-length, Avalanche , is almost here. But before it drops on June 4, they're keeping the momentum of "Hey Love" going with the release of "Better Off". It features a guest verse from Kendrick Lamar, which is only fitting given the connection between him and Quadron's Robin Hannibal. You see, Hannibal's work with Boom Clap Bachelors was sampled on Lamar's " Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe ". Here, he's provided a slightly jazzy backdrop from frontwoman Coco O. and the Compton MC, who is a natural fit for this feature. Stream "Better Off" below. [ [...]

Pick yourselves up already...with Lace Curtain's new single, "Falling (II)". Considering their previous association with punk and garage bands, Lace Curtain is a surprising new endeavor for Australian musicians Mikey Young, Dave West...

Loving this song from UK's Post War Years . Their ambient electronic sound is deeply cool fuzzy pop underlined by charging polyrhythmic beats that jar you to life. The band who met when they were all kids, playing London and sending out demos before relocating together to an East-London warehouse where they learned how to produce and record their own record there. The nights spent recording until 4 am, wandering around London and becoming self-sufficient in making their music propelled them to where they are now: backed by a label and having toured with Mumford & Sons (an [...]

With the release of "Hollow Dye (Defected Crystal)," the second single from their forthcoming full-length debut VPI Harmony , Mood Rings appear to have successfully completed the transition from a hazy lo-fi pop outfit to a much more robust and mercurial post-punk-infused band capable of majestic (if often morose) highs. Now don't get me wrong. Sweater Weather Forever was a solid EP and "Indian Hills" remains one of the best local tracks in recent memory, but everything about this latest offering points to a much more assured group willing to stretch the limits [...]

Seattle quartet La Luz immediately brings to mind the girl groups of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The immaculate four-part harmonies, the luscious layers of reverb, the occasional choreographed dance move, even the band’s...

Yes, summer is fast-approaching, but perhaps you guys need some tunes to help you get in the warm weather spirit. Count on the lovable indie-pop tones of TV Girl to take us there, as they drop off the audio to their latest single "She Smokes In Bed". While we often times ask for artists to progress and reinvent their sound, it appears TV Girl has chosen instead to build and improve on their already infectious formula. That is, catchy lo-fi jams with a hint of nostalgia. "She Smokes In Bed" will land on TV Girl's forthcoming [...]

Earlier this week, J. Cole took the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon stage to perform his latest single, the Miguel-assisted "Power Trip". Even though Miguel couldn't make it out, the Roots helped balance that out by providing the backing instrumentation. And now, we're getting another means of enjoying an alternate version of "Power Trip" courtesy of production duo Two Fresh . They tagged this one with " Legdroprock ", which is hilarious. Oh, they totally brought new life to the track, too, but I'm too busy lol'ing at that. You can stream/download it [...]

Part relaxing ambience, part sensual burner, "Downtown" takes you through the bright lights to the neons and further, where it's just moonlight streaming through the windows onto the sheets. This is the debut track of Puddel, comprised of Philadelphian Jeremy Lloyd and LA native D.J. Stanfill. Not bad for first timers, right? It's finally warm and bearable outside at night in something other than a winter coat. Enjoy it with "Downtown". Download it for free on Bandcamp .
