The National have been making music since 1999, and for over a decade they’ve been consistently getting better at it. It’s hard to imagine that given the already grandiose nature of their style – a high-class blend of driving rock beats and chamber-pop instrumentation – but they’ve been refining that blend ever since their self-titled debut. In 2005, they completely nailed it with Alligator , and they've built upon it with each subsequent release of theirs: Boxer , the glorious High Violet [...]
Este EP terá quatro músicas: "What I Needed", "Love Lies", "I Collect Things" e "How It Went Down (Remix)". A primeira, que dá o mote ao álbum, pode ser ouvida abaixo. A vocalista dos Dark Dark Dark, Nona Marie Invie, irá também [...]
Here is who we listen to and wish had more tweets in them.

So it was a somewhat blustery Hallowe'en one – same as every year, or so it'd seem. And whilst the Samhain celebration ushering in that eternally damned darker half of the year may occur annually, and with the unerring tedium of the equivalently wretched wallet-voiding guising it entails, down round The Forum a momentous sense of occasion did brood. A one-off exclusive; a "late night double feature." Not since 2007 have Tim DeLaughter's The Polyphonic Spree been about these dank and windswept parts, and indeed in the interim period the boys and girls in the floor-length [...]

Well, 2011. You were quite the year! So much so that I’ve only been able to recover enough to think about you a full week into 2012. Crazy, huh? New jobs, lots of change, oodles of shenanigans, and yes, lots of good music. So much so, that I undoubtedly missed vast quantities of things that [...]

Friday evening was a mad house. Getting into the station wasn't the issue, as I expect it will be in the coming weeks now that winter is upon us; it was the transition. Transitioning from one on-air personality to another is a bit nerve-wracking. The quarters are cramped, the mic is hot, and you have to do your best not to step on their toes as they wrap their show and you begin yours. And when it's time to fly, you have to remember which buttons should be lit and which ones shouldn't. After the [...]

In recent years the crowd that is claiming "the album is dead" has grown louder and louder. We couldn't disagree more. As more and more people turn to iTunes and the Hype Machine to download the latest and greatest singles, we have stuck to the traditional album listening and found that there are still some truly great records being made these days. For most of this year we have been inundated by bands breaking into the world, mainstream artists trying to recapture their former glory, and indie rock "superstars" growing into their own, it has been exciting and fun and [...]

Hey guys! It’s been almost two months since I showed my raggedy ass around this place. You’re used to that, though, right? To be completely honest, I’m seriously considering putting this blog out of its misery. I just haven’t had the time, or the inspiration, to update. I’m still going to think about this, so you’re not rid of me just yet. Before I decide whether or not to jump ship, I figured I’d do my favorites of 2007 list. I don’t really go in for [...]
( MTV.COM ) As promised, I return post Christmas with the family to bring you my past year in shows. Its been the best year I have ever had for shows, and as always, I was sad (and poor) that I couldn't see more, because some stellar shows were missed. I am going to list the bands that I was able to see this year, and then some highlights. A mix of tracks follows at the end. SHOWS: The Hold Steady/ The Ratchets/ Wolverton Bros. - Newport, Ky [...]
And, thus, 2007 comes to a close. This was a fantastic year for music, with several of the best albums of the decade so far seeing their release. 2007 blows last year out of the water as far as I'm concerned, and it has made for many hours of happy listening. With this final feature, Under The Rotunda will be on break for two weeks until the new year rolls in. Well, a little bit after the new year rolls in -- I'll be back January 7th, to be exact. Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, enjoy [...]

Please do not use this I'll be honest: even taking the Biblical annoyances which have plagued my music-consumption habits over the last few months - the move, two computers dying, Time Warner being Time Warner, certain harumph cough hack being shut down by the cough blagh hork snxxx, etc - the fact remains that my musical 2007 was spent decidedly elsewhere . 2007 was, for instance, the year I entered into My Steely Dan Phase, a project which certainly took priority over determining whether White Williams was worth being [...]
