Jack White at Sasquatch! (05/26/12) by Shawn Anderson Words and Photos : Shawn Anderson aka Drake Lelane Photos : Zach Gore Sasquatch, the most picturesque of music festivals, signals the beginning of summer in the Northwest*, and since last year, that starter's gun has gone off on Friday. That day featured Santigold, Girl Talk, Explosions in the Sky and more, but we are going to pretend that day didn't happen. Not out of protest, mind you, but out of near [...]
Over the past decade Bonnaroo has become the cultural crossroads for a wide variety of musicians, comedians and artists world wide. It's a breeding ground for creativity, as was highlighted by last year's Superjam featuring The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and creole legend Dr. John, which instantly led to the recording of this year's superb album Locked Down . With a bill that features acts as diverse as Feist, Alice Cooper, and Kenny Rogers who knows what types of collaborations could happen this year? Highlights from Soul Saturday at Sasquatch include smaller artists and big bands alike.

photo by Brittney Bollay Opening a main stage at a festival can be a daunting task, especially for a band that isn't used to playing festivals. " This is a little different than our basement," noted singer Galen Disston, "but we're really honored to be here." Lucky for Pickwick , a legion of fans rushed to the front of the stage, and with their support, Pickwick tore through a set of groove-based rock that started the day off with a bang. More performances to air Friday.

The line-up for this years Sasquatch Festival came out on Thursday night and it is a pretty decent looking list. Even though there is roughly a -12% chance that I will be able to attend this year, I thought it would be kind to preview some songs from artists that I would be excited to go see. This is just a small sampling so head over to The Official Site for more info about bands playing and how to get tickets. Enjoy! Free mp3: Active Child - Hanging [...]

2011 started a new decade with a bang. The year saw tragedies strike major populations, dictators overthrown, "occupy" redefined, and the casually pepper spray everything cop . As far as music goes, a lot happened too - pop became even more influenced by electronic, helping Adele sound that much better than her Top 40 contemporaries. Dubstep found itself at a heavy fork in the road, one side running all the obnoxious frat parties and the other (perhaps humorously) aiming straight for your heart. Hip-hop became overrun by Tumblr and Twitter personalities pushing "SWAG" into the vocabulary. Indie rock still [...]
