Two high-wire art-pop all-stars, St. Vincent and David Byrne, have teamed up to make a full-length collaborative album called Love This Giant together, and they're also getting ready to head out on a full-scale North American tour. Apparently, the appeal of a girl that looks an American Doll who also happens to create manic, spastic riffs is not lost on the people. Annie Clark's St. Vincent project has been universally admired and rhapsodized over ever since she sprung from Sufjan's Stevens' band (which also serves as some kind of songwriting academy ). On " Calgary ," Justin Vernon's vocals lay in a cloud of gloomy synths and anxious electric guitar tones, suggesting a sonic shift from the grainy For Emma formula. But not too much has changed - the ghostly falsetto remains Bon Iver's calling card. JV's voice has also been unmistakable on recent collaborations (GAYNGS, Volcano Choir, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ) and an asset when he takes on someone else's song.
