The title of this album is incorrect or, rather, incomplete. Yes, this is a collaboration between David Byrne and Annie Clark of St. Vincent but there's a third, equally important member: the brass. Love This Giant , out on 4AD/Todo Mundo , is absolutely packed with brass sections, melodies, and blasts. It gives off a temporal vibe, especially when placed in contrast with the electronic flourishes that are provided by the two talented musicians. Each track finds a new way to use the instruments [...]
The album's out next week and after only being streamable for a couple of days, people are raving about Love This Giant , the collaborative album between St. Vincent and David Byrne . Today we get the first video from the project for the single "Who" , a black and white oddity that has the couple dancing on an empty street after it looks like David hit Annie with his car. Now that's a street [...]

If you've been following the trajectory of this collaboration since its rumoured conveption, you'll know that it's been far too long in coming. Years in fact, but rest your weary hearts because now it's a real (almost tangible), existing thing. St. Vincent and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne have been working on Love This Giant amidst their busy schedules for the last couple of years, and the result is [...]

By this point, if you follow more than just one music site or blog, you'll have no doubt heard about this new Fleetwood Mac tribute album that's been getting a fair amount of buzz. That buzz is due largely in part the sheer quality of the artists taking part in the tribute with St. Vincent , The New Pornographers , Antony Hegarty , Lykke Li , Washed Out [...]

Having already released one of the best tracks of the year so far with "Who" , St. Vincent & David Byrne 's LP collaboration Love This Giant is gearing up to be one of the best albums of the year, if for no other reason than based on the two tracks from it that we've now heard. "Who" is immense, but "Weekend In The Dust" is just as spectacular, highlighting once [...]

Recently voted the sexiest woman in Indie-Rock , Annie Clark is about ready to take over the world (or at least take over mine), and if we keep finding bonus tracks like this, she most definitely will. Released in September of last year, St. Vincent 's third album Strange Mercy was one of the best of the year, but now the Japanese bonus track from the album has made its way online (as these things tend to do). [...]

In the middle of August we'll see a compilation release of covers of classic Fleetwood Mac songs by the likes of MGMT , Tame Impala , Antony , St. Vincent , Washed Out , The New Pornographers , and a bunch more. Today a flurry of the covers showed up online, though some of which have since been yanked, presumably for being [...]
MP3: David Byrne & St. Vincent- "Who" There are a few artists whose album announcements actually get my fingers shaking and breathing erratic. David Byrne is one of 'em, and his forthcoming project is an exciting one. There's been talk of him collaborating with St. Vincent, a.k.a. musical eccentric and songstress Annie Clark, but there wasn't any clarity as to when some material would actually drop. Well, with the first track from this collaboration coming out today, the project actually feels pretty tangible right about now. The amount of collaborative [...]

It's been more than two years in the making, or at least two years in the rumour mill, but at long last we've finally got confirmation, a release date, and a new track from the oft-talked about collaborative album between St. Vincent and Talking Heads mastermind David Byrne . The album is called Love This Giant and will be out on September 11th via 4AD and Todo Mundo, and above you can see the awesome, [...]

This is the second such video performance taken of St. Vincent 's performance at former Elvis Costello keyboardist Steve Nieve 's Parisian house. Last week we saw and heard her perform her cover of Brian Eno's "Some Of Them Are Old" superimposed with images of the Mojave Desert, and this time around she performs a gloriously burgeoning version of "Black Rainbow" from her 2009 Actor LP. It also features Nieve himself [...]
Whether you know it or not, you may well have been exposed to Texan multi-instrumentalist Daniel Hart . The most obvious and likely exposure would be through St. Vincent , both as a member of her backing band as well as being featured on "Actor" . But if you’ve listened to or seen John Vanderslice , Other Lives , or The Rosebuds , you’ve at least heard Hart’s contributions. There’s even Hart’s former band [...]
Apparently, every now and again Steve Nieve ( Elvis Costello 's keyboardist throws private concerts at his house in Paris and invites musicians to perform there. This time around Annie Clark of St. Vincent was invited and performed (presumably among other songs) her Brian Eno cover of "Some Of Them Are Old" . The accompanying video has her performance superimposed over shots of the Mojave Desert, barren landscapes, long empty highways, and dirt roads. St. Vincent 's excellent latest album "Strange Mercy" [...]
Buy Beach House 's album "Bloom" : Vinyl | MP3 | CD Beach House is on a short list of bands who have a distinctively beautiful sound of their own. They have been imitated by many bands who ultimately fall short of achieving the cavernous depths of Victoria Legrand ’s voice and the simple brevity of Alex Scally ’s musicianship. “Bloom” is Beach House ’s first release since 2010’s “Teen Dream” , which [...]
Last week we were treated to an impressive lineup on Jools Holland with Alabama Shakes , Jack White , and Grimes , and this week's episode was just as good. St. Vincent played "Cruel" from her latest album "Strange Mercy" , Damon Albarn dropped "Apple Carts" from his "Dr Dee" [...]
The a-side to St. Vincent's new, non-album Record Store day 73, and it's a blood pumper. Between Annie Clark's ferocious screams and the heavily distorted guitars, St. Vincent takes no prisoners on this one; reminding me of some of Kim Gordon's more aggressive moments in the Sonic Youth discography. There's a really twisted chorus effect on Clark's voice that makes her vocal delivery breach the threshold of insanity. Really short, solid, and punked out track. Considering the nature of the song, I'm not surprised the song didn't make it onto Strange Mercy -assuming the [...]
Listen to St. Vincent two new songs "Krokodil" and "Grot" below, taken from her Record Store Day 73 single. At the first weekend of Coachella this year, just over a week ago now, Annie Clark ( St. Vincent ) debuted her brand new track "Krokodil" to a frantic crowd as she crowd-surfed and screamed her way through the song. Naturally, this being the digital age, when the song got its official release over the weekend on Record Store Day, someone took it upon [...]

A track for the song "Cheerleader," which comes off the latest St. Vincent album, Strange Mercy . The album made it onto my list of favorite albums from 2011 , and you can check our review of it here . Look for this album now on 4AD. A lot like the video for " Cruel ," this song's video deals with being singled out, critiqued, controlled. The ending is just as depressing, too.
