The Blur frontman performed a beautiful rendition of 'Apple Carts' taken from Dr. Dee, his forthcoming album based around the life of John Dee , while Annie Clark and her band played Strange Mercy highlight 'Cruel'. A stylistic departure from recent album Strange Mercy , St. Vincent 's Record Store Day offerings 'Grot and 'Krokodil' find themselves in gritty, scuzzier territory with dramatic choral vocals and frantic, chopping guitars. You can listen to both, rather brilliant, new efforts below.
St. Vincent appeared on the Conan O’Brien show this past weekend. She kicked things off by playing a few bars Elvis Costello 's ‘Radio Radio’ before paying homage to his 1977 SNL performance by stopping the band, announcing “I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen, there is no reason to play that song” and launching into Strange Mercy highlight ‘Cheerleader.’

Recorded at Brooklyn’s Shangri-La Studios and directed by Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth, the footage features four tracks from the brilliant full length album Strange Mercy: ‘Surgeon’, ‘Chloe in the Afternoon’ ‘Strange Mercy’ and ‘Year of the Tiger’.
