Author turned punker Bob Mould has pulled in an awesome rhythm section to play his band SUGAR's classic 1992 release "Copper Blue". In honor of the 20-year anniversary of Sugar's COPPER BLUE, Bob along with his band, Jon Wurster (Superchunk, The Mountain Goats), and Jason Narducy (Robert Pollard, Verbow) will be performing the album in its entirety for the first time ever at San Francisco's beloved small rock club, Bottom of the Hill, on Friday, February 24th as part of the 20th [...]

Yhdysvaltalaisen vaihtoehtorockin merkittävimpiin vaikuttajiin lukeutuva Bob Mould saapuu 6. elokuuta Tavastialle esittämään kokonaisuudessaan Sugar-yhtyeensä klassikkoalbumin Copper Blue . Bob Mouldin johtaman Sugar-yhtyeen syyskuussa 1992 julkaistu debyyttialbumi Copper Blue oli heti ilmestyttyään valtaisa menestys. Mouldin ja Lou Giordanon (mm. Hüsker Dü, The Lemonheads, Mission of Burma) yhdessä tuottama ja Creation Recordsin (mm. My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Oasis) julkaisema pitkäsoitto valittiin muun muassa NME-lehdessä vuoden albumiksi. 90-luvun keskeisiin alternative-levyihin kuuluvan albumin tunnetuimpia kappaleita ovat If I Can't Change Your Mind , A Good Idea , Helpless ja Changes . "I can't hear you -- literally."A hilarious exchange between two Minneapolis favorites unfolds in a new "interview" of sorts between Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn and Hüsker Dü/Sugar kingpin Bob Mo

Ok so firstly two things to demonstrate how much I love this: a) usually I limit myself to one post a day so I don't burn all the stuff i find b) I really really need to be revising. But this needs to be heard. Originally broadcast in 2009 on BBC1Extra, this is an hour long mix celebrating hip hop since it's birth with Sugar Hill Gang. And what a journey it takes you on. It's nuts, you gotta listen to it from front to back. PARTY PEOPLE YOUR DREAM HAS NOW BEEN FULFILLED [...]

Peter Murphy and Cracker rocked uber cute Owl Mag writer, Vanessa Anton, back in the day.

Eyes closed, head slightly bowed, hands clasped, Bob Mould stood silently for better than a minute at the conclusion of Monday night's tribute concert at Disney Hall, letting the crowd's warm ovation wash over him. The 51-year-old singer, guitarist and author had to be thinking something along the lines of: What a long, strange trip it's been. Punk hero in the 1980s. Radio guitar god in the 1990s. Closeted gay man for most of both. Respected solo artist. Dabbler in electronica. Scriptwriter for professional wrestling (fer chrissakes) after that. And now, enjoying a career [...]
Photo by Timothy Norris for LA WeeklyThough he reportedly expressed some humble resistance to the tribute because "he's not even dead yet," Hüsker Dü and Sugar frontman Bob Mould took part
If Hüsker Dü or Sugar were before your time, do yourself a favor and dig up their old catalogs. Both venerable bands were fronted by Bob Mould, and an all-star assortment of music luminaries assembled to celebrate the music and legacy of Mould's vast catalog at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Britt Daniel, Ryan Adams, Dave Grohl, No Age, Grant Lee Phillips, Margaret Cho, Craig Finn and Tad Kubler of The Hold Steady all paid tribute by running through classic Hüsker Dü and Sugar songs. Mould is touring in support of his book See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage [...]

Tweet Purchase the album – MP3 / CD "Mainly in relationships, we end up the devourer or the devoured." So described Brian Fallon , back in January, his side project, The Horrible Crowes . "That's what we're singing about, it's the darker side of soul music, it's slow, it slithers, and it's raw. At the same time, the melodies and pianos are a juxtaposition to the topic material because [...]

I came across this beautiful new track from The Sunshine Factory when I was browsing the excellent blog, When the Sun Hits . This is the first new music we've heard from the group since the release of their LP, Sugar , which came out at the end of 2010. The song has this unassuming beauty, with lightly strummed guitar filling in the space left by the atmospherics of the background. You'll have a hard time convincing me Sally Robertson doesn't have one of [...]
Last night I had the opportunity to head to Adelaide's 3D Radio to help good mate Sam Walker by guest programming his fantastic Raw Like Sushi weekly show. Watch the Decemberists cover Sugar's 'If I Could Change Your Mind' for the AV Club.
If I can't change your mind [...]
KarlT0 tweets that Bob Mould has done a great cover version for the Onion's AV Club . Albeit one which suggests Mould struggles with the idea of a cover version. [Buy Copper Blue ] -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, complain and kvetch
