Cover Alert: Umphrey’s McGee – Rebubula (moe.)

Cover Alert: Umphrey’s McGee – Rebubula (moe.) In Umphrey's McGee's early days they would often cover moe.'s Rebubula. In the middle of 1999, just about 18 months after forming, UM stopped performing Rebubula and the song remained on the shelf until this past Memorial Day Weekend, when the Chicago-based sextet busted out the moe. classic at the 2013 Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, IL. Umphrey's delivered an impressive, spot-on version of the moe. song and today have shared pro-shot footage of the cover featuring the work of former moe. and [...]

We've assembled a playlist of the three kickass vids that Kyle has shared on the Summer Camp channel. [...]

Umphrey’s Offers Pro-Shot Video Of Big Gigantic Bright Lights

Umphrey’s Offers Pro-Shot Video Of Big Gigantic Bright Lights While the big story from Umphrey's McGee's Friday night set at the Summer Camp Music Festival was that they busted out their cover of moe.'s Rebubula for the first time in 14 years, let's not forget that Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic guested on an over-the-top version of Bright Lights, Big City. Lalli helped direct the jam into a dark and intense jam space that rated high on the danceability scale. Just a few days after the sit-in took place, UM has posted pro-shot [...]

Live Review: Dot To Dot Festival

Live Review: Dot To Dot Festival Dot To Dot | Bristol 02.06.12 Dot To Dot has come a long way since occupying three venues across Nottingham on the May bank holiday weekend, 2005. Now spanning three cities – Bristol joined in the fun in 2007, Manchester jumped aboard in 2010 and a brief flirtation with London in 2008 lasted only a year – and over 20 venues this travelling festival has become a must for the up and coming hopefuls of the UK’s alternative scene. So while the headliners of the larger venues include The Drums and Pulled Apart [...]

Pictures From Scamp: The Final Day

Pictures From Scamp: The Final Day After four packed days and nights of music, the Summer Camp Music Festival came to a close on Sunday in a fitting way, by extending into the sunrise hours during sets by Pretty Lights and Wyllys and the New York Hustler Ensemble. Sunday also saw two sets from moe. and a set from Umphrey's McGee as well as performances by a bevy of HT faves including Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Galactic, Jane's Addiction and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Pictures From Scamp – Day Three: Saturday in Chillicothe The Summer Camp Music Festival continued on Saturday with a full day of music that included two sets a piece from headliners moe. and Umphrey's McGee (who also played a private set in the venue's church) on the Moonshine and Sunshine stages respectively and the return of Gov't Mule and ALO to the festival as well as performances from plenty of up-and-coming acts such as Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, The Lumineers, Tauk and Orgone. Pictures From Scamp – Day Two: Bob Weir Sits In With Primus

Pictures From Scamp – Day Two: Bob Weir Sits In With Primus One of the first big sit-ins of Summer Camp took place last night at the Moonshine Stage where Grateful Dead / Furthur guitarist Bob Weir came out during the Primus set for The Other One at the second day of the annual festival in Chillicothe, Illin. The Primus/Bobby connection stems from drummer Jay Lane who has been the drummer in Ratdog since Weir formed the group and currently mans the kit for Primus as he did from the group's start until 1988. In fact, Les takes credit for introducing Lane to original Ratdog bassist Rob Wasserman [...]

Dot To Dot 2012: A Festival Preview

Dot To Dot 2012: A Festival Preview Dot to Dot 2012 By Paul Faller Website / Tickets It's arguable that the UK is beginning to suffer from festival fatigue – even big names like Sonisphere have fallen victim to the tough financial climate. With that in mind, city-based festivals are looking like more and more of an attractive proposition, providing the opportunity to pick from a myriad of bands for a fraction of the price of larger events, and with the added bonus that you can worry less about [...]

Constellations Festival Roundup

Constellations Festival Roundup Just when you thought the festival season was over, that it was safe to hang up any notion of seeing in one sitting a full working day’s worth of bands until next year, along comes Constellations to sweep away the November blues. (The 12th of November, to be exact.) In the style popularised by ATP’s Butlins jaunts, this is a single-venue indoors one-dayer, using the fantastic facilities at Leeds University as a base for a five-room shindig. At this stage in the year one might be wary of repetition; and whilst there are some [...]

Constellations Festival 2011, Leeds

Constellations Festival 2011, Leeds Constellations 2011 By Russell Warfield November 12, 2011 This year’s Constellations Festival was a double-decker treat for me. Not only was it a second straight year of excellent music at Leeds University Union (and only the second year in total, to boot), but it was also the first time that I managed to get back oop n’rth after graduating from the university earlier this year. Gorgeously decorated stages aside, it was a joy to roam around the place, enjoying performances, supping on pints which didn’t require [...]

Constellations Festival // 12th November 2011 // Leeds University Union

Constellations Festival // 12th November 2011 // Leeds University Union It’s time for the autumn leaves to start to fall and the clocks to go back, but whilst most people will be letting the weather get them down and picking out a new winter coat, at Never Enough Notes we’re simply looking forward to the new wave of touring bands and latest releases. Living in Leeds means that... Read more..

Glastonbury Review 2011 - Friday

Glastonbury Review 2011 - Friday The start of my belated Glastonbury review - I needed some time to recover! Unlike perhaps 95% of the 175 thousand punters who now go through Glastonbury's doors (surely too many) I arrive early on Thursday and spend the first few hours doing undoubtedly the worst thing of the weekend, walking (and walking) with a heavy bag and camping gear finding a suitable place to pitch up. The less said about the better, I spend most of the day wandering around the green fields having a couple of drinks and enjoying an extended afternoon's rest - after the [...]

Review: Summer Camp Festival 2011

Review: Summer Camp Festival 2011 Words : Ryan Maher Photos : Tammy Wetzel Ah, Summer Camp . Last year you turned 10, this year you had quite the growth spurt at 11. Attendees quickly realized as they lined in that they'd be camping in tighter quarters with many new neighbors, as record numbers made their way to Chillicothe. [All photos by Tammy Wetzel] Thankfully mother nature gave us a break by ending the early rain in time for a dry load-in. The [...]

Review: Summer Camp Festival – Chillicothe, IL

Review: Summer Camp Festival – Chillicothe, IL by Jon Stone | @jwstone I got a speeding ticket when I was about five miles from Three Sisters Park , the site just north of Peoria, IL where Summer Camp Music Festival has been held every year for the past ten. I was going nine over the posted 45-miles-per-hour speedlimit but there was a nice little stretch of road along the Illinois river and I was gazing out over it wondering what to expect from the weekend. A few minutes into the traffic stop, I was informed by the officer [...]
