photo by Chromewaves Noel Gallagher started his North American tour this week in Toronto, and here's a clip below of Noel doing his Oasis classic 'Supersonic' in a stripped down, quite lovely version from the Mod Club in Toronto. Last night, Noel played Massey Hall and The National Post was there to capture all the goods and bads. "Perhaps the most surprising musical moment of the night was the full band rendition of Talk Tonight, which places Noel at [...]

Supersonic 2011 You'd be forgiven to believe that now the summer is over that so was the festival season. However you'd be wrong. Capsule's Supersonic festival in Birmingham's Custard Factory is an onslaught of extreme, experimental, noise, electronic and rock music, and one that will have any avante garde fan frothing at the mouth. This year is Supersonic's 9th invasion of the Custard Factory and has become the one of the most important events in every open minded music fan's calendar. What sets it apart from many UK festivals is not only [...]

IKKI just released a fresh Dubstep track with that special IKKI touch. In his remix of Jamiroquai's "Supersonic" we get the classic IKKI hard electro feel blended with a bangin dubstep beat. I noticed IKKI chose to keep the drum line in place while dubbin out and it gives the song a more musical feel than most dubstep tracks, which just sound like some kind of alien transmission. Give this track a listen, even if you're not a fan of dubstep, and let the king of drops get that lump of meat in your chest working overtime! IKKI - Supersonic Jamiroquai [...]

We've picked some of the best live photos from gigs we attended in 2010. Check them out below! February: Bhayanak Maut @ Club Marimba, Mumbai. An eight-inch-high stage, Tuborg-fueled moshers and static green lighting - you gotta love metal gigs. With practically zero distance between audience and band, it was a rare opportunity to frame the two together. February: Swarathma @ Poona Blind School, Pune. This was one of Swarathma's first 'Action Replay' gigs, held the [...]
Delhi indie rockers Indigo Children are back in action. While no formal breakup was ever announced, the Soundpad winners have been on a lengthy hiatus, with no gig updates or news on their Facebook page since August last year. In that time, bassist Nikhil Rufus Raj has remained active with Another Vertigo Rush and last month, frontman Sanchal Malhar played a solo acoustic set in Delhi. IC will reunite at a free gig on the 4th of December in Delhi, marking the culmination of Harley Davidson's nationwide 'Rock Riders' tour. The concert [...]

Apparently Evan Caminiti and Jon Porras, the San Fran duo that make up Barn Owl , had the novel luxury on this, their third album, of being able to really take their time over its recording and programming. This more considered, conscious and meticulous approach to crafting their songs – as opposed to the organic evolutions of yore – appears to have paid off, resulting in this textured work of mystery and atmosphere. You can definitely hear that this is music unafraid of taking its time. The largely instrumental pieces move at a pace that sometimes feels [...]

Cave I covered this year's Supersonic Festival for the online home of all things metal, er, FACT magazine. I had a great time, thanks for asking. You can read all about my weekend here . The photos are all on Flickr too, but here are some of the highlights: Devilman James Blackshaw Peter Broderick Swans [...]
You can't - and shouldn't - call Supersonic Festival a "metal festival". That description not only falls catastrophically short of describing what the event is about, but it's also simply not true - Supersonic isn't a metal festival. Sure, there are metal bands taking part, but the festival features everything from avant-garde jazz and ambient electro, [...]
We announced on Monday that Kolkata post punk quartet The Supersonics had decided to call it quits. The four-year-old act was undoubtedly one of the top new Indian bands of the last decade, releasing one excellent album and performing some of the best gigs by an Indian band we've check out. The band made a formal-ish announcement of the split via their Facebook group on Thursday. The heartfelt note cites disagreements within the band about their musical direction as the primary reason of the breakup. Read it in full below. [...]

In October '08, Indiecision contributing editor Amit Gurbaxani and I, along with a few friends, headed to Hard Rock Cafe in Lower Parel, Mumbai to check out a band we'd barely heard of before but intrigued us because of their name, and the few demos they'd uploaded to their MySpace page. Tuesday night at any venue in the city usually has poor attendance and October 14 was no different, with just about 50 diners at the south Mumbai restaurant. The band quietly made their way to the godawful-over-the-bar stage at the venue and began their set. [...]

The loss of the Sonics (formerly Supersonics) is still a contentious issue in this town, so it's nice to see Manther get a little nostalgic in their recent video and song "Missin' the Supersonics" while bringing some humor to the table too. So I think to my self, we can start are own franchise, just give us Durant [...]

Yesterday I posted about how Oasis changed my life and today I'm giving examples. I posted a couple of their videos yesterday, the first being Supersonic and the second being Live Forever. The former was the first video of theirs I saw, and with Live Forever I thought it was crazy that Liam could somehow sit 20ft up in a chair that was stuck to the side of a wall. The video for "Cigarettes & Alcohol" was the band playing a gig and scenes of them backstage, smoking, drinking, hanging out with girls and being cool. [...]

Oasis It was Spring 1994, I was twelve and heavily into trance, techno, house, acid house and most other forms of house-related genres. That was until I saw a video on MTV late at night for this new band called Oasis. Apparently everyone was raving about them, calling them the next big thing, best thing since The Beatles etc but I had heard nothing about them, not really reading music magazines and having friends who listened to the same stuff [...]

The Mavyns and The Supersonics kicked off the Indieca tour at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai on Tuesday, February 2. The Supersonics played an excellent set of all-original material with a generous helping of stuff that isn't on their debut album Maby Baking . 'Fable Of A Lonely Fish' is perhaps the band's biggest Britpop tribute yet. Heavy Stereophonics-esque rhythms and Ananda Sen's workman-like delivery come together for a refreshing take on suburban loneliness. Follow the Indieca tour ! Blog, [...]
