Not much is known about Saturday, Monday beyond the slim tidbits of the producer hailing from Europe, being the newest signee to Sweden's Despotz Records and having a new single slated to drop in a few weeks followed by an album sometime later this year. What we do know is that we're pretty fond of this introductory piece, a remix for Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes ' cut "Love Out of Lust" that finds him applying to the tune stutter-step drum patterns, stop-start effects, doomsday piano [...]

Watch out for her! Laleh Pourkarim is an Iranian-Swedish singer-songwriter. She came to Sweden when she was 1 year old and went to school in Angered, Gothenburg. Before that she had lived in Azerbaijan and Minsk, Belarus. She personally produced and wrote her 2005 self-titled debut album, in which she sang in three different languages: English, Swedish and Persian. At the Swedish Grammis Awards for 2005, she received seven nominations and won three: Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, and New Artist of the Year. The following year her second album Prinsessor was released. [...]
I just got a great review in one of Sweden's bigges morning papers, and the rest of the world is not late on following the trend. TOANWTS is appointed the prestigious title of " Album of the Month " on renowned music blog Bluesbunny " Perhaps her most interesting artistic choice however is the sound of the album this time around. Country flavoured sonic touches abound on many of the songs thus giving the album an underlying focus and, [...]

Milano Sun consists of Johan Jonasson, Love Sivik and David Axelsson, three friends who share an apartment in central Gothenburg, not far from their music studio. The idea to form a band was born one morning in early spring as the boys were basking in the sun of a Milanese park. They were traveling through Europe with two guitars and drums, in search for inspiration. Eventually, the trio wrote their entire upcoming debut album on the road, one song in each city. Last December Milano Sun released their debut single "Already Gone" along with a stop-motion video [...]

First Aid Kit's The Lion's Roar is the only album that I've listened to and put on my favorites of the year list so far. New Year's Eve is one of my favorites off of that album so I wanted to share it. I'm tired and don't have a lot more to say but enjoy. The lyrics are below. Well it's a new year, with it comes more than new fears. Met a young man who was in tears, he asked me, "What induces us to stay here?" [...]

Swedish punks Holograms are the latest signees to the ever impressive Captured Tracks roster. Their riotous debut single - "ABC City" - will no doubt show you just why they're worth the attention. continue reading >>

Back in late 2010, when Lana Del Rey was still relatively unknown and blond, she made what was possibly her first European TV appearance on Mandio Diao 's MTV Unplugged show. Backed by the Swedish rock band themselves, Lana gave an acoustic rendition of "Chet Baker" , an obscure 2007 b-side named after the jazz legend. The show was later released on CD/DVD, and footage of her segment has been floating around since, but I only managed to discover it a couple days ago. Her voice was a good fit for the jazz-tinged track, [...]

Zonen are an experimental instrumental electronic band from Sweden who make music on their phones and computers inspired by things like John Carpenter, Goblin and Sci-Fi movies. Things near and dear to my heart as well. They sent along their soundcloud which has tons of great tracks from them, many as free downloads . I can imagine their music being featured in sci-fi or horror movies like Dario Argento's even now as I'm listening to "Spillror Av Hopp" . Check [...]

Tweet vaso link The ways in which bands form is as diverse as the genres of music they play. The members of Milano Sun all hail from Gothenburg, Sweden, but they met on a trip around Europe in 2010. The band managed to record an album this past year, and the single below is their debut, a lightweight, synth-heavy track titled "Already Gone." There's a section right in the middle of "Already Gone" where it sounds like the [...]

The promising Swedish Goth Rockers MONUMENT release their debut EP "Teeth & Tails", which offers traditional gothic rock at its best. Female vocals, dominant guitars, coated into the dark atmosphere of an early 80s Goth Rock release. The vision of Monument took form in the summer of 2009, initially being a more modest experimental recording endeavor by Henrik and Linda (the songwriters of the band), whose mutual interests in the rather odd spectrum of music brought them together. After unveiling "Devil's Work" last December to much blog hype, Swedish trio Miike Snow return with another track taken off their forthcoming album Happy To You . "Paddling Out" is a stuttering uptempo piece of pop goodness that clearly shows a nice evolution for the band. Maybe it's the syncopated piano or maybe the frenzied sampled beats, but in any case there's something utterly addictive about this new song... Keep'em coming! To support the new album, the band will embark on a massive [...]
This is the ridiculous clip of Miike Snow 's single, "Paddling Out". Featuring an abduction by children fashioning the baroque period, the idea is to create the perfect dancing specimen. The 2 chicks that were on the artwork for the single appear in the video as well. Someone definitely gave the Swedes quite the budget to make this, as this production value is golden. Happy To You will be out 3/27. Miike Snow - "Paddling Out"

Just out with a new 5 track EP called 'As We Plz' , is one of Sweden's best experimental art electro-pop bands, Lissi Dancefloor Disaster posted last February here . The As We Plz EP is their latest addition to their past singles " Glowing Hearts " and "Moshpit Lovers" as well as their arsenal of great remixes. My favorite track and new video which just came out is, "I Will Not" . The Swedish duo is [...]
These three songs will blow your mind! Some have said DJ Fredrik Sundberg will be the next Avicii! Once you listen, you will definitely notice their similar sound. Although this DJ is a bit of a mystery, supposedly, he is a member of a new wave Swedish electro group called The Sounds. In The Sounds, [...]

Got sent this really pretty indie pop track/video "Already Gone" by Swedish three piece Milano Sun . It reminds me of a warm summer day at the beach, kinda like their artwork above. Not that I go to the beach much (us DJ's are all about the nightlife), but the thought is nice. The track is even nicer. Definitely a keeper and available as a free download . Glad to have them on our Radar.

Gothenburg-based indie pop act Alpaca Sports is really the solo project of Andreas Jonsson, a talented young artist who makes playful pop music with jangly guitars and super catchy hooks. Recorded, mixed and produced by Kalle von Hall, his double A-side debut single "Just For Fun/I'll Never Win" will be released as a very limited 73 (300 copies) via Luxury /Dufflecoat on March 22. Alpaca Sports - Just For Fun Alpaca Sports - I'll Never Win Citing influences ranging from The Smiths to [...]

If what Raccoon Village says in its press material is true, then all of its members are 19 years old, and they've only been together for about six months. That's an impressive fact when you listen to the Swedish band's two available songs, which have a serious Mumford & Sons vibe with plenty of lovely [...]

The Mary Onettes have their EP 'Love Forever', set for a February 28th release via Labrador Records . The lead track 'Love's Taking Strange Ways' has a pop friendly vibe to it and is well worth a listen. Love Forever Track Listings: 1. Love's Taking Strange Ways 2. Will I Ever Be Ready 3. A Breaking Heart Is A Brilliant Start 4. 8th Of June
