![Top 50 Songs of 2012 :: [50-41]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4687383_lg.jpg)
Welcome to our annual countdown of the 50 best songs of the calendar year. Songs must be from an EP, LP or demo released during 2012 and no band may appear twice. Today, we count down 50 to 41. 50. Swim Good - "Totally A Mess Wild" totally a mess wild 7" by swim good A spiraling and looping beat, this First Rate People offshoot delivered a song about being out of control that was tautly and intentionally organized. There is something charming about the grammatical incorrectness of Swim Good's single, "Totally A Mess Wild". Like it all spilled at once, an overflow of words divorced from construction, the title only forecasts the bright melody that barely fits in the context of the arrangement. In the first half, Jon Lawless and Anna Horvath of First Rate People fame, take one of the first hooks up a

Let’s face it — the majority of YouTube musicians are far better at video-editing than actually singing. The few who can sing can’t properly accompany themselves on instruments. Really, how hard is it to fly acappella or ask a friend? If you can’t tell, I’ve got qualms regarding the use of YouTube by egregiously incompetent individuals who live vicariously through 2 likes (nevermind the 200 dislikes). However, once in a while, a talent bursts to the forefront of my subscription suggestions, and I wonder why on earth such prodigies go unsigned in today’s ever-underwhelming music [...]

Love Me Now, When I'm Gone, Love Me None By Taylor K. Long For an emotional R&B singing moniker, Christopher Breaux aka Frank Ocean couldn’t have done much better. Writers often use water metaphors – an ocean, in particular – to represent feelings, emotions, and hidden...
Faith SFX knocks it out the park once again, aping the beat from Nas's Affirmative Action , throwing in a synth fill from Still Dre and combining it with the vocals off Odd Future Golf Wang crooner Frank Ocean's Swim Good . Tack Black The Ripper on the end and you've got a bootleg winner. Faith has hands down got the best vocal beats around.

Frank Ocean is very good Recently, we've been spending the dead time between Christmas and New Year working our way through a tin of quality street and catching up on Coronation Street. While we were doing that, however, our tip for 2012 was included in Tom Robinson 's round-up of 6Music's listeners' predictions of who will be big next year in the world of pop music in his Now Playing show. We chose Frank Ocean - he's undoubtedly already made an impression with his Nostalgia/Ultra mixtape, released for free [...]

Tweet Listen to SBTRKT 's edit of Frank Ocean 's song "Thinking About You" below. London's breakout producer of the year SBKTRKT is on tour at the moment and in his spare time he go to messing around with some jams by Frank Ocean , one of the breakout R&B Soul-Hoppers of the year. Ocean's "Swim Good" is [...]
I'm gone on record verbally and pretty sure I've put it in writing, but here goes... Frank Ocean's Nostalgia, Ultra is one of my favorite albums (mixtapes) from this year. Safe to say it will be making our list. With that being said, Frank Ocean hooks up again with Nabil Elderkin for his track, Swim Good .
In two days, Frank Ocean has dropped as many videos via his Tumblr for tracks from Nostalgia, Ultra . And they are… weird. Produced and directed by High Five Collective and Nabil Elderkin, last week’s “Thinking About You” video featured—somewhat surprisingly given the more traditionally romantic lyrics—two intense child death scenes, a crazy contact lens-wearing shaman, some teepees, and Ocean himself in a brief cameo as a nurse. So when “Swim Good” surfaced this morning, I wasn’t surprised to find Ocean, dressed as a Jordans-wearing samurai, pushing an old school orange stretch limo along a [...]
Two new Frank Ocean videos dropped over the past couple days, and boy are they purdy. The first is for "Thinking About You" (above), an official clip directed by High 5 Collective , while the second is for "Swim Good" off of Nostalgia/Ultra . My initial fears that Frank wouldn't be able to continue the stunning start he made off that free album seem to be waning, thanks to clips like these and his couple of [...]
Gotta say it's getting hard keeping up with Frank Ocean and the videos he releases. 2 vids in the past 2 weeks, not bad at all. Here is the latest visual to drop from his highly reputable mixtape 'Nostalgia, ULTRA'.
You can't say we weren't expecting it. The Odd Future crooner and overall R&B songwriting legend-in-the-making Frank Ocean is going hard in the paint right now. Never mind the two huge guest spots on one of the year's most highly anticipated hip-hop records ( Kanye West & Jay-Z 's Watch The Throne ), the New Orleans native is now the R&B and pop community's figure-at-large at the moment with all eyes fixated firmly on the 23 year old. To somewhat satiate the hoards of now-salivating fans & on-lookers, two new creatively [...]
The 2nd video in two days for one, Frank Ocean . After the video for “Thinking About You”, comes Nostalgia Ultra standout “Swim Good”. In it, Ocean portrays a training Japanese warror, even though I believe a true samurai would not be in such lucious environments. Frank Ocean - “Swim Good”
I'm about to go throw what may the be the last steak on my grill for the 2011 season. But before I take a brief pause here's some new visuals from Mr. Frank Ocean. I feel like dudes videos are getting more strange as time goes on. **SPOILER ALERT** A serial killing samurai who likes retro Jordan's.
One of my favorite tracks of 2011 now has some official visuals to accompany it, and they're bizarre to say the least. We're working with a panda mask, a samurai sword, and some car explosions in this one. Keep doing you Frank. Shout out to Jimbo for holding the site down on Friday while I live the dream down in tax-free Delaware for the weekend. Tweet
Frank Ocean’s second new vid of the week “Swim Good”. Mmhmm.
One of my favorite songs from Nostalgia, Ultra gets the video treatment and I'm digging it. NABIL did an excellent job directing this. I just wish Frank would stop running around looking like Daniel-san . Whatever, though. His album was pushed back this Summer, but hopefully it'll drop sometime in the near future. drink the kool aid:
