I am heading back to SXSW this year, after two years off. Pumped. I'm also on a panel about the work I do at Bearsuit . Should be an eventful week. But, the reason why I made this post was to point you towards this handy guide DO512 has put together. Basically, its a list/schedule of all the bands that I've written on my site that are playing SXSW this year. Play around with it, stream some new bands and make your own schedule. Check it out here .

AQUARIUM DRUNKARD|SXSW 2012|MARCH 15 More details soon.
South by Southwest is many things to many people. For some it's a great way to catch up on bands they wouldn't normally get to see and for others, a place to meet and do business. One part of the conference that I feel gets a bit overlooked is the educational aspect. With a wide variety of music-related panels, workshops and keynotes, I thought it would be good to focus on some of the participants by doing a series of brief interviews. I did something similar with bands a few years ago and it went over very well. As a [...]

And so it begins... We imagine the crazy amount of free shows and parties for this year's SXSW will start being announced at a furious pace from here on out. We always try our best to keep up and this year should be no different. Get ready! The first show announced is from a great blog called We Listen For You . The showcase is quite mysterious but the blog did offer a few details. The party will run from 11 am to 2 pm at a secret location, will feature five bands playing acoustic [...]

I hope you're ready for a poptastic indie rock jam because Vancouver's Yukon Blonde is bringing forth the catchy awesomeness in the form of their single, "Stairway" from their upcoming full length release Tiger Talk , which is set for a March 20th release. As if they haven't been touring enough in the past year, clocking in a 62+ day North America, the band is prepping for a world wide tour, which includes appearances during SXSW. If you're hardcore into "Stairway", the band will be releasing a 7" of the single on January 31st, [...]

Brooklyn synth-poppers Class Actress just released the beautiful new video for “Bienvenue”. The second clip from the critically praised debut album Rapprocher (out now via Carpark Records ) was shot on location in Paris this past December and was directed by Clement Gino and Gregory Faure. Class Actress will return to Europe in late March following select North American dates between now and SXSW . [...]

If you somehow miss Swedish electro-pop outfit Miike Snow at all their upcoming festival gigs — the group, which includes hitmaking duo Bloodshy & Avant , will play Ultra Music Festival, South By Southwest and Coachella in promotion of their new album Happy To You — there's still at least eight more instances you can tweak out to their beats. Check out all 12 dates of their Spring tour below. Miike Snow 2012 Tour Dates [...]

SXSW 2012 - Bands to Watch #2 - Young Galaxy Back in 2007, I was part of a small promotions/online radio/webzine/venue called Little Radio. One of my fondest musical discoveries that year was a new Arts & Crafts band called Young Galaxy . They had reportedly just moved from California to Canada, and the Arts & Crafts roster was the hottest at the time. I think I can remember describing their sound in a review as something like “Laura Branigan meets Slowdive” — sounds awkward right? But if you [...]
SXSW 2012 - Bands to Watch #1 - Mahogany Here’s the first post where I attempt to sway SXSW attendees and music fans in general into investigating some of the Austin music conference’s most talented and inspiring bands. Not all of these acts are new, and many have several albums, singles and/or exhausting tours under their belts. But there’s a lot to cover, and I promise I won’t waste your time with hype. First up is Mahogany , one of the quintessential dream pop groups of the last decade and [...]
![[hot off the press] SXSW 2012](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3998678_lg.jpg)
SXSW is right around the corner (March 9 - 18) and the music schedule is is now live. Other than CMJ , this is by far the best music festival in the US. I don't have the time and/or patience to list the hundreds of bands announced to play, but some of my favorites include: Alabama Shakes, Built to Spill, The Magnetic Fields, Talib Kweli, The Drums, Bear In Heaven, Deerhoof, The War on Drugs, Miniature Tigers, SBTRKT, Best Coast, M. Ward, Youth Lagoon, Tennis, Dan Deacon, Lana [...]

Can you believe it? SXSW is less than 2 months away. Today, SXSW announced a ton of bands broken down by alphabetical order. Some of the standouts among the many, many bands include: Bear in Heaven, Best Coast, Caveman, Chairlift, Diamond Rings, The Drums, Eleanor Friendberger, Grimes, Guards, Here We Go Magic, Japanther, Lana Del Rey, Little Scream, M.Ward, Memoryhouse, Metric, Miike Snow, Mr. Gnome, Nite Jewel, Of Montreal, Purity Ring, SBTRKT, Sharon Van Etten, Spank Rock, Stars, Tennis, Vandaveer, We Are Trees, White Rabbits, Youth Lagoon, Zechs Marquise. Hopefully we'll discover even more bands as March gets [...]

Less than two days after her deeply divisive debut SNL performance , word comes that Lana Del Rey is heading into the belly of the beast: she's been added to the SXSW 2012 lineup, which means the dusky Born To Die singer will perform for many of the tastemakers, music bloggers, advertisers and industry folk who have slammed her privately and publicly. We expect the "Gangsta Nancy Sinatra" will have more appearances under her belt by the time the Texas festival kicks off in March, but [...]
The 2012 South By South West schedule is now live!
