Foxygen take over Montmartre in a Take Away Show (playing Firefly Festival on June 21-23)

Foxygen - 'In the Darkness' and 'No Destruction' | A Take Away Show
Foxygen infiltrated the streets of Monmartre in Paris with their flamboyant personality for a recent Take Away Show.  La Blogotheque filmed the New York psych / pop duo and their merry cohorts as they encountered curious school children, the notorious "string men" of the Sacre-Coeur, and apparently a stolen apple.  Sam France employs his best ... [watch]: Foxygen – On Blue Mountain (La Blogotheque Session)

Foxygen performed a great take away version of "Blue Mountain" for La Blogotheque while the band was in Paris. It features them playing it while hanging out and smoking cigarettes with schoolkids. It's pretty special. Watch/enjoy below.

Warm up with Josh Rouse’s Take Away Show (playing World Cafe Live on 4/26)

Josh Rouse "Take Away Show" PART 1
Singer-songwriter Josh Rouse released The Happiness Waltz last week via Yep Roc Records and will perform in Philadelphia at World Cafe Live on April 26th.  The Nebraska-born world traveler spent several years living in Spain, his time there heavily influencing his 2010 album El Turista.  Ahead of that album's release, French live session producers La ... Watch Indians perform a Take Away Show in Paris (playing Johnny Brenda’s on 3/9)

Indians | A Take Away Show
After interrupting a Jon Spencer rehearsal somewhere in Paris, Copenhagen's Indians performed acoustic versions of "I Am Haunted" and "Cakelakers" from his 2012 debut Somewhere Else for La Blogotheque. Stripped of their layered reverb and theramin-y warbles, the songs revert to the form I imagine they were created in - just a simple acoustic guitar ... Continue reading

Phoenix To Release New Album In April

Phoenix - 1901 - A Take Away Show
It's been a long time coming, especially since Phoenix revealed back in May 2011 that they were in NYC working on  Wolfgang  Amadeus  Phoenix 's followup, but at a press even yesterday for Spotify, the band's label boss Daniel Glass of Glassnote confirmed that their new, as-yet-untitled album will be out in April. As of yet there's no word on a title, artwork, a tracklist, or a release date, but we've only got four months to wait until we [...]

Dominique A

Dominique A | Vers le bleu | A Take Away Show

Video: Lianne La Havas – Forget (Take Away Show)

Lianne La Havas | Forget | A Take Away Show
I've been watching this for a week straight and it still doesn't get old, as with most of Lianne La Havas ' live performances. She hooked up with La Blogotheque in Paris to record a gorgeously powerful version of her first single  "Forget" as she crosses roads, avoids cars and motorbikes, and belts out the chorus like she's trying to throw her voice back to the U.K. "Forget" is taken from her fantastic debut album [...]

Frànçois and The Atlas Mountains

Frànçois and The Atlas Mountains | A Take Away Show

Breton

Breton - A Take Away Show
On a relevé nos manches.

Rolling: Peter Fanone (COL ’15)

Rolling: Peter Fanone (COL ’15) If you've been keeping an eye on the blog in the past month, you've already heard a bit about rising sophomore Peter Fanone. He stopped by the WGTB studio in early May to talk a little bit about his newest single , "Friends For Now." But he also took a break from studying on a sunny Saturday afternoon during finals to serenade us and the rest of the front lawn with two original songs. Take a listen after the jump, and keep an ear out for more from Peter in the fall. [...]

Video: Nick Waterhouse’s Take Away Show

Nick Waterhouse - Is that clear | A Take Away Show
You've no doubt seen us talking about Nick Waterhouse 's music in the last few months and you're going to hear more from us aobut it in the coming months too. You may even be tired of hearing about him, but we'll never tire of writing about brilliant music. During this year's SXSW festival in Austin, TX, Nick and his band performed a couple of acoustic tracks for La Blogotheque 's Take Away Show, namely "Is That Clear" and [...]

Live from Dahlgren Fountain: Lightfoot

"Pow Wow" - Lightfoot
Last Friday night, Dahlgren Quad was full of couples in tuxes and gowns snapping photos on their way to Dip Ball. And they were lucky that we dragged DC's own Lightfoot outside to set up shop on top of the fountain for some impromptu serenading. Led by the strong voice of singer-songwriter Jessica Louise Dye, Lightfoot pared down its numbers to a folky, earnest sound with just a couple of guitars and a trumpet-accompanied also at points by the bells from Healy's clock tower and many, many planes en route to Reagan. Take a listen to four originals as well [...]

Jonquil - "History of Headaches" (Takeaway Show)

Jonquil - History of Headaches - Takeaway Show
First off, shame on us for not realizing there was a new Jonquil album out. The proper title is Point of Go and features a brooding texture that "Whistle Low" only hinted at. But what's obvious from this video is how spare the group is going, letting Hugo Manuel's riveting vocals take the lead.
