I've been on a bit of an Outkast binge of late, mainly revisiting their earlier albums and then not listening to much else at all. I go through phases like that and whenever I'm done, I come out of it like an invigorated funky gangsta pimp. That's not to say that their more recent albums aren't worth noting, though, especially when it comes to tracks like "Prototype" , from 20032s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below . So it pleases me greatly that our favourite Australian psych-r ock [...]

Western Australia's Tame Impala primarily started as a "psychedelic rock project" by Kevin Parker and has been gaining momentum with a substantial amount of praise from critics since their 2010 debut, Innerspeaker. With the immediate success of their debut album, they received four ARIA Music Awards nominations along with a slot as the opening act for MGMT's American Tour. They didn't stop there with the release of 2012's Lonerism , which lead the band to top polls across countless sources, such as Rolling Stone, NME and Triple J (to name [...]

Date Tuesday, February 26th Location Stubbs Doors 6:00 PM Tickets SOLD OUT It should be no surprise that Tuesday's show with Tame Impala has sold out. The band has been universally praised with their two albums, the most recent being Lonerism . It's weird to see a band burst forth with such enthusiastic [...]
Watch Tame Impala live last night with Jimmy Fallon "Elephant" from their latest, ' Lonerism '
Tame Impala have quickly been labeled as a rising act in the indie rock world, with Lonerism being clamored over as one of 2012's best albums by many critics. Their tour has been selling out across the nation, including a date here in Milwaukee on March 3, and if their performance of "Elephant" last night on Fallon was any indication of their live set, I'm giddy with excitement. They sound great, and although there does not appear too much glitz, glamour, or sparkle behind their live act, they seem to perform great as a group, [...]

Tame Impala return to "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon". Tame Impala introduced itself to US audiences on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon", so it was only appropriate for them to return. It's especially...
Tame Impala 's great "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" receives this lithe, totally blissed-out "paradise edit" from Darkside's Dave Harrington , who turns the whole thing inside-out, exposing the rhythmic core and driving it deep into territory that's otherwise untouched on Lonerism . Find out what Yoel and Joe of 'Songs That Are Good' have to say about Foxygen's second full-length album We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic... Yoel's take : I love this album. This is despite the fact that in many ways it's pretty derivative. "No Destruction" could easily have been on a later Velvet Underground album (maybe Loaded ?). "San Francisco" would not be out of place on the Kinks' classic The Village Green Preservation Society [...]
Tame Impala "Mind Mischief" As I first started watching the David Wilson directed video for "Mind Mischief" I was surprised how seemingly straight forward and un-psychedelic it was compared to previous Tame Impala music videos. That is until an extended ass shot and some trippy animated space nakedness proved to me that I shouldn't be so quick to categorize a music video. I was contemplating not using the screenshot I did, but to be honest, when I think about the music video I remember that [...]

A new bit looking at the often overlooked world of music videos, written by a self-styled asshole with a Lit degree. - ed.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =BgK_Er7WZVg Alarm bells should have started ringing as soon as I saw that Urban Outfitters were involved in the making of the video for Tame Impala's new single 'Mind Mischief', but hell, I thought, Lonerism was one of the best albums of 2012, they couldn't do that bad of a job for a video, could they? Proving that I am mortal, I was wrong. [...]

I'm certainly not sharing this video for the nostalgic portrayal of a hot-for-teacher youth. I'm not that type of lad. And I'm definitely not showing the new Tame Impala clip for "Mind Mischief" to you for the long, long, lazy shot of the same teacher walking down the hall in a snug mini (pencil?) skirt. I [...]

"Mind Mischief" by Tame Impala , the third official single off 2012’s critically acclaimed Lonerism. Directed by David Wilson (Passion Pit, Metronomy), and featuring both live action and Tame Impala ’s signature trippy psychedelic animated visuals, the video shows a schoolboy’s fantasy sex romp with one particularly come-hither teacher. Brought to you by Modular and Urban Outfitters.

It's nice to see some corporate dollars get behind an Australian band's music video. Hawt production value. Directed by David Wilson and based around his (and every other boys) English school-boy fantasy. It's an amazing video that peaks with mind blowing drawings, complementing a track off what we should now start calling, one of the great Australian records, Lonerism. For Tame Impala , it's just another day making crazy shit happen. Check the money blog for interviews and BTS fluff. _____ [...]
