Here's an absolute stonker of a track from Australian psych-rockers, Pond . Giant Tortoise is definitely a step forward from last year's slacker rock-esque, Beards, Wives, Denim album. The band, who share a bassist with Tame Impala (and have a frequently changing line-up) have beefed up their sound and if this track is anything to go by now sound like the rather lovely missing link between Mercury Rev and [...]
This is rather lovely... Tame Impala visited Australian radio station, Triple J to cover André 3000 ′s “ Prototype ” from Outkast 's The Love Below double album. Check out the video footage below:

Earlier this year, Outkast had themselves a sorta kinda but not really reunion , and while it didn't go beyond that sole Frank Ocean track, it clearly re-sparked people's interest in the ATLiens. STS9 put their jam band spin on "SpottieOttieDopaliscious" , Ryan Hemsworth chopped and screwed "Return of the G" , and now Tame Impala have returned home to Australia to cover "Prototype" for Triple J's coveted "Like A Version." Apparently one of their "favorite songs ever," the band take the Speakerboxxx/The Love Below deep cut from a funky [...]

It's nice to see some corporate dollars get behind an Australian band's music video. Hawt production value. Directed by David Wilson and based around his (and every other boys) English school-boy fantasy. It's an amazing video that peaks with mind blowing drawings, complementing a track off what we should now start calling, one of the great Australian records, Lonerism. For Tame Impala , it's just another day making crazy shit happen. Check the money blog for interviews and BTS fluff. _____ [...]

Alex Watts wrote for our blog back in 2011. He's good at a lot of things not limited to banjo and the internet, including siting in various musical positions for Brendan McClean and Chance Waters . Cull is Alex's new side project. He plays guitars in Cull with his pal Chumpy Ly ( Polar Knights ) on vocals. (I hope Chumpy is his real name). The first few bars of 'Good People Disappear' does have an [...]

The High Commissioners wowed us back in October with their retro blues rock, so we invited them to become guest editors. Here are their picks for the best music of 2012. Will's choice: Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings would certainly take my slot for song of the year 2012. Spreading via word of mouth earlier in the year by most as the 'solo project of the Fleet Foxes drummer,' J. Tillman, here under thepseudonym 'Father John Misty,' produces a colourful mix of Californian Rock, 60s psychedelia, Folk and elements of Americana, with a wild [...]

It's been a big year for The Daydream Club . Their last single 'Neon Love Song' [Pt. 2] featured in a Burberry campaign , they won the London FolkFest Songwriting Award for New Creativity, performed on the Main Stage at Summer Sundae and the beautiful Union Chapel, and had their music featured on the Evening Standard London Theatre Awards Video. Now attention turns to a new EP, set for release in early 2013. But before then Adam & Paula have been busy recording a [...]

Yes, I did title this the “Awesome Playlist”. It’s pretty self-explanatory but here are some of the tracks I heard today, and each time they come on I cannot help but think, “these tunes are pretty damn awesome.” So I hope you feel the same, enjoy! Photograph by Nick Helderman Drawing from affecting tones of 602s baroque pop and psychedelic trance, Dutch multi-instrumentalist and producer, Jacco Gardner has created an enigmatic world from the loss of innocence. From listening to Gardner’s singles such as “ The Ballad of Little Jane ” and “ Where Will You Go ,” and “ Summer’s Game ,” his influences are quite clear. This multi-instrumentalist blends contemporary sounds along with classical ones such as the harpsichord, clarinet, and flute. Influenced by past artists such as The Left Banke and [...]

Here's the new video for Tame Impala 's Feels Like We Only Go Backwards from their recent album Lonerism - check it out below:
You can listen to "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards," a supreme cut from Tame Impala's new release Lonerism , below. It has all the feel of the Perth band's modern psychedelic hands, forming a bass heavy standout single.

When thinking about the past 10 years of music history, one genre has taken the back seat to the potpourri of musical stylings facilitated by the ease and convenience of desk, lap and hand-based digital production methods: Rock music. Yes Rock, Daddy's old timey music, can you remember? Its traditional format almost seems archaic and boring when compared to the ever morphing musical sensibilities of modernity, ALMOST. If your faith in rock has wavered at all prepare to be evangelized. Tame Impala's second-full length Lonerism is a tantric multiple-eargasm to say the [...]
Tame Impala 's second studio album album Lonerism is out on the 8th October 9 via Modular . Here's the new video for latest single Elephant - enjoy:

“Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes....” Yeah, we know TAME IMPALA 's sophomore LP Lonerism is coming, and yeah, we're all super stoked, but the waiting game is becoming a little too tedious! If their first single 'Elephant' is becoming too much of a tease for you, then feel free to mix it up a bit as rock experimentalist TODD RUNDGREN has just released his own spin on the track. This remix is giant. The escalating introduction is almost as exciting [...]
Here's a lovely slice of psychedelic pop from Parisian artist Melody Prochet - aka Melody's Echo Chamber . Her self self-titled debut was recorded and mixed by Tame Impala 's Kevin Parker and is out on 5th November. Check out the video for her latest single I Follow You below and revel in it's underwater otherworldliness: [...]
Tantalize a Fleetwood Mac fan with news of a tribute album and they'll go a bit soft inside; the 45-year old band has gone through so many permutations of line up, artistic temperaments and internal melodrama that the choices of covers are really quite boundless. Fleetwood Mac, now a quartet since the departure of Christine McVie, havn't released a new studio album since 2003’s rather tepid Say You Will , but, said Stevie Nicks recently, they are likely to tour again in 2013. So the release of A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac seems fortuitously timed, [...]
Here's a new song from Tame Impala . Elephant is off the album Lonerism , which is expected out in October.
After giving us "Apocalypse Dreams," Tame Impala decides to release another record from their upcoming album Lonerism, which is set to be released October 5th. "Elephant" reinforces how simplistic instrumentation can go a long way with the right people behind it. Straight forward percussion, some catchy keys, and Kevin Parker's lead vocals makes the psychedelic rock of "Elephant" sound oh [...]
