Tanlines Make Television Debut on Jimmy Fallon

More late night talk show coverage for you here. This time, it was Tanlines to take to the stage of Jimmy Fallon last night, making their television debut performing the song "All Of Me" from their debut full length, Mixed Emotions. The song is one of the year's best, which kind of leads to the performance seeming lackluster for such an undeniably upbeat song. The duo does not disappoint, however, check out the performance below. Tanlines – “All Of Me” 12/6/2012 Jimmy Fallon [...]

(31) Days of Good: 12.6.12

(31) Days of Good: 12.6.12 2012 had more than a handful of impressive debut full-lengths, including Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls , Porcelain Raft's Strange Weekend , and Jack White's Blunderbuss .  The tracks below don't even begin to scratch the surface of debuts this year, but these are a few of my favorites. The buzz band of 2011 did not disappoint.  If you have yet to give this record a chance, you're only hurting yourself.  It's more than just "Southern rock".  It's rock and soul [...]

Tanlines Show Review at The Empty Bottle

Tanlines Show Review at The Empty Bottle Thursday night brought an incredible act to Chicago's The Empty Bottle, Brooklyn's Tanlines, a group that I have been incredibly excited about for the past 18 months. Fresh off the release of their first full length album, Mixed Emotions , it'd be an understatement for me to admit that I was incredibly excited about this show. It should also be noted that The Empty Bottle is quite an amazing venue. Part dive bar, serving the best (and incredibly well-priced) libations, the small, triangular stage raised about 2 feet off the ground, the crowd [...]

The Elderly Aren’t Your Playthings

The Elderly Aren’t Your Playthings Before I begin, let me just say that I like music videos. While music is strictly for your ears, music videos have given us images to focus our thoughts upon and are sometimes even more pleasurable when we love what we're seeing as much as what we're hearing. There's a lot out there to hate or dismiss because we don't like the song or the video is simply our favorite band driving in a car or doing some other mundane thing. This is the problem I have lately: Bands I like making videos I hate. Specifically the ones where a [...]

Tanlines: Mixed Emotions

Tanlines: Mixed Emotions Tanlines: Mixed Emotions - Tanlines are an electro pop duo from New York City. Lately the 80s have influenced some of today's more talented electro artists and have made for some pretty interesting sounds and interpretations. Tanlines aren't any different taking cues from multiple 80s artists as diverse as Depeche Mode and Peter Gabriel, but it doesn't end there... Sure, evidence of Peter Gabriel and Depeche Mode are found all over this record, but they also have something of their own going here too. The clues are less [...]

Tanlines – All Of Me

It's hysterical how "synth-pop" is becoming an established genre in the music world. I hate genres, but if I had to describe my taste at the moment, the first thing out of my mouth would probably be synth pop. My latest addiction is this track from Tanlines, a Brooklyn based duo who seem to have mastered the genre already. "All Of Me" is one of those songs that doesn't take much to get into - one play should suffice. If you're into it, check out their debut album Mixed Emotions on iTunes. Tanlines- “All of Me”

The new music video from Brooklyn dance-pop duo, Tanlines has premiered on Adult Swim . The track is pretty infectious in itself, but the video takes it to a new level. It features the band performing on a low-budget, late night show. They appear on an old TV when pops in a VHS cassette. There is a degree of stoic mystery to all the characters in what is seemingly a senior’s center. What results is one of the best examples of old people dancing awkwardly with another in very close quarters. They move around painfully stiff in extremely close-quarters, [...]

Video: Tanlines – All of Me I've heard murmurs of mixed reviews concerning Tanlines ' new album  Mixed Emotions ,  so that's all I really knew about the album.  But after watching the music video for "All of Me" my opinion is anything but mixed, it's absolutely excellent.  So much so that I'm going to go download their new album. This is the second video/single off of off  Mixed Emotions the first being " Brothers " which I'm currently enjoying as I type this.

It's only appropriate that Tanlines ' video for "All Of Me" debuted on Adult Swim today. Directed by The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt (a.k.a Howard Moon), the video's dark, awkward humor fits snugly alongside the other characters and comedians that make up this channel-cum-music-house's family. You can check out a behind the scenes look at the filming process featuring Barratt after the jump. Tanlines' debut album Mixed Emotions is out now on True Panther . MP3: Tanlines - "All Of Me"

Tanlines – “All Of Me”

Tanlines – “All Of Me” "All Of Me", the second single off Tanlines upcoming album Mixed Emotions,  may be just what you need to get out of that post-SXSW exhaustion/sickness/depression .  The song kicks in quickly with a buoyant synth backbone that can't help but get one feeling a bit giddy.  Afro-poppish guitar lines cut through the bouncing rhythms while wonderfully dramatic vocals add just enough weight to keep the track from getting too sweet.  A catchy  call-and-response pre chorus swims right into a jubilant chorus that beckons flashbacks of show-hopping, beer-drinking, and taco-eating on the dusty Austin streets.  Enjoy below-
