Last week, in conjunction with the Creators Project, Tanlines released an interactive version of their video for " Not The Same ." The clip takes on the same concept as their original, with multiple Jesses and Erics playing each element of the song, only you have the ability to add, remove, and place them on the screen to your liking. There's a grip of backgrounds you can use as well. It's pretty fun to mess around with, but while I am a Tanlines-enthusiast of the highest order, I will say that this video is not a time-eater like Chairlift's choose [...]
As a big fan of the Tanlines and The Sims, I am a huge fan of their new video for "Not The Same." In their new interactive video, you can move the band members, bring out different instruments as you wish and change the background to places including Stonehenge and the White House. Music x video game - this is kind of my favorite thing ever. WATCH THE INTERACTIVE VIDEO FOR "NOT THE SAME" HERE Video: Tanlines - "Not The Same" |
Interactive videos are hit and miss. A lot of times, trying too hard to make a video interactive leads to viewers asking the inevitable question: why? Tanlines kept it simple for the new "Not The Same" video, letting viewers resize and move band members around like little Photoshop layers, turn different instruments on and off, and choose from background options including Jupiter, a fishbowl, and the Williamsburg Bridge. Yeah, it's a little pointless, but instead of asking "why?" it may be more appropriate to ask "why not?" WATCH [...]

The band performed "All of Me" - a song we consider among the year's 50 best - and you can watch the replay below (via The Audio Perv ). In the video for Tanlines ' propulsive, melancholy new single "Not the Same," the Brooklyn duo pulls a "Hey Ya," inhabiting the roles of a band of doppelgangers all playing different instruments. Even though this particular treatment has been tried before, Tanlines-who directed the video-balance the inherent comedy of a musical clone army with their usual cool and a hint of sadness far removed from the bright lights that shown on Andre 30002s fake band in the aforementioned Outkast hit. The clever clip hints at the subtle sonic variety the band has exhibited in 2012, while slyly playing off the [...]
Watch Grimes, Frank Ocean, Tanlines At The 2013 Webby Awards
The 17th Annual Webby Awards went down last night at Wall Street's cavernous Cipriani's. Hosted by Patton Oswalt, the ceremony featured a performance by Tanlines, who played their song "All Of Me," as well as the presentation of awards to the previously-announced winners, including Frank Ocean and Grimes. Ocean was unable to attend, so he accepted via video while Grimes's was given to her by a fawning Fred Armisen. Watch Tanlines' performance and check out Ocean and Grimes accepting their awards below. Read More...

The incredible layered sounds that comprise their music are highlighted as Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm are replicated over and over as the numerous instruments and melodies are added. The broad musical talents of the duo are met with equally amazing clothing unique to each addition. Check out the expansive pair in the player above. Tanlines – Not The Same
What’s better than Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm? How about two Jesse Cohens and two Eric Emms? Three of each? A stage full of Cohens and Emms? If you're nodding your head with escalating vigor, salivating at the thought of 14 Brooklyn-based electropopelgängers, each dressed in a different sweater/cuffed jeans/flatbrim combo and sporting a different instrument, then you’ve come to the right place. The latest video for “Not The Same,” from ATG (and personal ) favorites Tanlines , features Cohen and Emm (…and Cohen and Emm and Cohen and Emm) building into a crescendo of the band’s characteristic [...]
