I spent a week or so in Zanzibar, mainly in Stone Town. It's a beautiful and ancient, but a bit touristy now. Stone Town is characterized by it's tiny twisty streets that are too small for cars. Also lots of ornately carved doors. I stayed at Warere Town House which made up in friendliness for what it lacked in elegance. Easter Sunday was a wonderful day. The weather was chilly, but that didn't matter. My friends and I went to our usual restaurant and sat at a window by the water. We looked out and saw across the horizon the light gray sky and below it were small white-capped waves and the light brown sand of the beach. A rock jetty jutted into the water. Cheryl Cole was apparently hospitalized after contracting malaria during a vacation with Derek Hough to Tanzania. The singer, who is thought to have picked up the disease by getting bitten by a mosquito, apparently thought that she was just exhausted and even joked that she was just suffering from a hangover before she fainted at a photo shoot last weekend. Other than the absolute scenic beauty of this atoll with a heart shaped island in the middle, it boasted the best snorkling and scuba diving spot I have ever seen. Lush corals surround it and then a sudden dip into the india ocean. The fish aren't scared and will come really close to you. The trumpet fish are huge and the Napoleons will brush up against you lazily. The corals are like rainbows and the species are endless.
