We’ve been sent a lot of promo albums this week, and whilst we’ve enjoyed quite a few of them, there’s a clear standout- ‘Confidance’ from the mysterious SIS . It’s a real gem of an album - complicated, world influenced house, made with passion and energy but retaining a subtle clarity which distinguishes it from others who would claim to fit within the same genre. This track floated its way into our inbox all the way from Brussels, sent by DJ-duo J etlag . ‘Technicolour Heart’ is the latest single to come from the pair who produce deep, progressive house and UK Garage. Vocals are taken from an accapella of Anneka’s ‘Technicolour’ which are then blended with soft beats and smooth melodies to create a wonderfully atmospheric track that would sit nicely in any after party playlist. You can always rely on DJ Sprinkles to produce music with a message and his latest DJ Mix ‘Where dancefloors stand still’ has been produced to highlight the strange Japanese Fuzoku law which prevents nightclubs from opening past 1am. From the excerpts online, it’s sleek, timeless ‘proper’ deep house , smoothly blended as we have come to expect from one of our favourite DJs and Producers.
Bloc is back. After the shambolic shut down of the festival last summer (which we were at - read it here ) the company went into administration, but now, 6 months later, they are making a return to the scene with the aim of rebuilding from the bottom. Anushka are the latest signing on Giles Peterson’s label Brownswood Recordings . The Brighton based duo is made up of producer Max Wheeler and singer/songwriter Victoria Port. They’ve got an EP coming out in April and they’re going to make a bouncy leap into the electronic-pop realm with it. George Maple’s follow up single to her debut track ‘Uphill’ of last year is just as soulful and pretty. A step more upbeat ‘Fixed’ is a smooth and melodic offering conjuring up images of romantic summer afternoons. Maple has been busy in the studio with the likes of Bondax, Two Inch Punch and Snakehips so expect some more sultry sounds and soulful blissed out electronica from this lush lady in 2013. Officially the first new artist to be signed to Apollonia , Daze Maxim releases his ‘Farbfilm’ EP . Words cannot describe how amazing this track is. We’re in awe. We love George FitzG. Word. German techno hotties Pan-Pot treat us to a snippet of the latest remix of their track ‘Kepler’. Bassy techno with an epic drop, it’s gonna be BIG. A slower future garage number to finish off… think xxxy & Koreless. This tasty little number from Andrea is bliss.

If you think that analog is dead, think again. Korg have, much to our delight, announced the release of Korg MS-20 Mini during the NAMM show earlier this year. Despite dubbed the "Mini", it's actually the real thing: an uber cool, semi-modular patchable mono synth that comes at the fraction of price, size and weight of the original. The keys does seem to be a bit smaller but I don't see this as a problem at all. As a modern product, it's also free from typical maintenance nightmares usually found when you buy a 20-30 year [...]
Label Noir Music had two deep house slow jams they liked so much they put them together onto one release. They do sit side by side rather nicely. American-based-in-London Forrest. goes old Hollywood on us with 'Marlon Brando', lush grooves and JT-esque vocals make this catchy, sexy and warm. Track 2 comes courtesy of Spaniard Pablo Fierro 'Bring The Night' keeps that groove pumping with soulful, bumping house music. Two top tracks from two new talents. Buy them both here.
Having first heard of Rumah through his banging release 'Vex' last year, we were pretty excited when we saw that Church (one of our fave labels) had uploaded 'Murmur' - the latest offering from this talented producer. Murmur is released 15th April and is heavy, bassy and industrial - just how we like it. Stream below.
