by Tiana Feng Tegan and Sara have received the Young Galaxy treatment on their song "Closer". Stream it below.
"While Heartthrob may prove a departure from the band’s earlier sound, it should be judged in isolation for what it is; a slice of fantastic 80’s-influenced golden pop..." Album Review | Tegan and Sara The Canadian twin sisters return to the scene (did they ever go away?) with Heartthrob , 36 minutes of synth heavy, new wave embracing, top pop tunage. Heartthrob wears its 80’s influence - think hooks, vocals and synths, not shoulder pads and big hair - very much on its Dolman sleeve; and marks a large departure from 2009’s far [...]
America's lovable sister/twin duo is back with another great single. Like it's predecessor "Closer," Tegan And Sara's new track "I'm Not Your Hero" is way more dance ready and beat heavy then much of their older work. It showcases the new direction for their upcoming album very nicely. By pushing their vocals to the front of these two new tracks, they are setting themselves up for some potentially awesome remixes. Hopefully these chicks will continue their pop exploration and keep us all out of depression in the years to come. [...]
Tegan and Sara premiered "Closer," the lead single off their forthcoming studio album set for a January 2013 release. "Sara calls CLOSER my 'let's get it on' track" Tegan explains to Rolling Stone. "And although I do imagine that this would be an okay song to make out to, all I intended was to write something sweet that reminded the listener of a time before sex, complicated relationships, drama and heart break. In short, I was writing about my youth. ...
It's been a few years in the making, and a few months in the tweeting and video blogging, but Tegan And Sara have finally unveiled the first new track from their forthcoming album. Clearly in the three years since 20092s Sainthood they've been playing around with more synths and experimenting with electronic music a bit more as evidenced by the albums lead single "Closer" . There's no album title of concrete release date set for it yet, but it's looking like it'll be out in [...]
It's that time again! I'm Tiana from Ride the Tempo , the crazy Canadian girl who is here to bring you some Canadian tracks. Last month, the Polaris Music Prize happened and when the rest of the world was streaming it live, nobody who knew who half the artists were. When Karkwa won, I didn't even know who they were. So this month I decided to feature the artists in the Polaris Short List. Karkwa Karkwa are the 2010 winners for their album Les Chemins de Verre . The [...]

“Hell” is the first single from Tegan and Sara’s newest album, Sainthood. Sainthood was written in by the girls in New Orleans and produced by Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla. “Hell” departs from the Canadian duos somber sound and penetrates an almost punkish vibe. Their harmonic voices are channeling for the steady drumbeats and lashing guitar. It has an interesting flare, showing promise of their forthcoming album and book adventure. As if a new album wasn’t enough for the two, they are also releasing their three book set, ON, IN, AT alongside their album. The [...]

Yesterday, Stereogum premiered this brand new Tiësto track featuring Tegan & Sara, off his upcoming fourth studio album, Kaleidoscope. So far Kaleidoscope is shaping up to be one intense indie-trance-extravaganza with feat. 's by Jónsi of Sigur Rós, Kele of Bloc Party, Nelly Furtado, Calvin Harris, Emily Haines, and, of course, Tegan and Sara. But this isn't the first time Tiësto and the twins work together. If you remember, Tiësto remixed Tegan and Sara's awesome single, "Back In Your Head" way back in 2007. Though I do have to say that [...]
