Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D have played their last few tours backed by a full band. For their latest tour, the pair have gone back to their roots by performing as an acoustic duo. Way back on September 28th, 2001 Tenacious D's first big, national tour visited Higher Ground which was then in Winooski, Vermont. They were touring in support of their self-titled debut album in which they were backed by Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters on drums and guitar, keyboardist Page McConnell of Phish, guitarist Warren Fitzgerald of The Vandals and bassist Steven Shane McDonald of Redd Kross. Earlier this month HT faves Tenacious D's Rize of the Fenix World Tour visited the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, Mass. where Kyle, JB and their band provided a hearty mix of classic material, tunes from the recently released Rize of the Fenix and even a few choice covers. Tenacious D released Rize of the Fenix last month and since then we've seen them perform their merry way through a few late night TV appearances. Last night they visited Jon Stewart at The Daily Show and performed the tracks "Deth Starr" and "Throw Down". Keeping their promo trail burning bright, Rage Cage and Jack Black offer up yet another new video for their Rize of the Fenix featuring track "Low Hangin' Fruit". The duo seem to be releasing a video for every track on the album. See what you make of the colourful little fruity number at the top of the page and look out for some more comical entertainment from these two in the coming month.

Yesterday we saw Tenacious D perform "The Roadie" on Letterman, today we get to enjoy the duo perform not just that track but "Beelzeboss" too. KG and JB performed the tracks from Rize of the Fenix during a visit to Jimmy Fallon's late night slot. Last night on the Late Show With David Letterman , Tenacious D came through to play "Roadie," a "Jukebox Hero"/"Turn The Page"-style dedication to the mic-check engineers who skitter around the stage during soundcheck. As discussed in Televised Tune yesterday, Tenacious D has a busy week of late night television appearances planned. Last night they kicked offf the Rize of the Fenix promotional tour by performing Roadie on CBS's The Late Show with David Letterman. After unleashing their Danny McBride featuring video for "The Roadie" last week, Tenacious D were last night entertaining the masses on David Letterman's late night slot. They performed the single and it can be enjoyed at the top courtesy of our friends at The Audio Perv .
