Every song on Tennis' debut album, Cape Dory , had a certain fragility to it, as if a good, stiff wind could knock it right over. It was the utter lightness of the girl-group pop-so carefree, earnest and deliciously catchy that half of Brooklyn was whistling Tennis tunes last winter. But, tracks like "Petition" represent a sonic shift of sorts. It's the R&B chorus, the hop-and-pop baseline and the overall newly discovered punch that make "Petition" feel full in some of the ways Cape Dory tracks felt hollow. I’ll be honest. Tennis is a bit hit and miss with me. I loved “Marathon” and “Take Me Somewhere”, but Cape Dory  didn’t quite fill my time like I thought it would after the initial rush. Now though, things seem to be different. I had a somewhat soft spot for “Origins” and then “My Better Self” popped up on the interwebs and I found Tennis again. This is probably my new favorite from the brief Tennis catalog. It has a little more soul, or something. I just dig it is all.

Dopo il primo album, “Cape Dory”, uscito ad inizio 2011, i Tennis annunciano il rilascio del successivo “Young & Old”  il 14 febbraio. Anticipato lo scorso 6 dicembre con il singolo “Origins”, l’album è prodotto da Patrick Carney (Black Keys), ed è già possibile ordinarlo dallo store della Fat Possum Records.     El próximo 14 de febrero sale la segunda producción de Tennis, Young & Old  de la cual ya hemos escuchado unas cuantas rolas. Ahora nos presentan “My Better Self” en la que podemos notar su sonido característico pero mucho más maduro. Enjoy.

One of our first video posts of the year featured the indie-pop act Tennis , who were on the verge of putting out their much buzzed about debut album Cape Dory , a collection of lo-fi, hazy, girl-group influenced tunes that were inspired by the  husband and wife act's eight-month voyage sailing around the North Atlantic coast. On February 14 the Denver-based act will release their sophomore effort, Young & Old, which was produced by The Black Keys' drummer Patrick Carney.
