Foals / Surfer Blood @ Terminal 5 (May 3, 2013)

Foals / Surfer Blood @ Terminal 5 (May 3, 2013) Not many bands out there are doing what Foals do. Mixing elements of math-rock that makes you rock out and dance simultaneously, as well as creating blissful moments of sincere beauty that will stop you dead in your tracks. They put all of this on full display with relative ease. Many people who were in attendance on Friday night are calling it one of the best shows of 2013 - if not the best. I can't really argue with that. Blondfire opened things with a poppy set that was [...]

Review: Garbage live at Terminal 5

Review: Garbage live at Terminal 5 Photos by G. Shirley Manson of Garbage Garbage!  One of the best bands of the 90s is back and kicking even more ass than ever.  They played a sold out show at New York's Terminal 5 on March 22, 2013 and it was anything but garbage.  The band played their first New York show in 7 years last May ( which I went to and was so awesome ), and they played 9 different songs last night than when they were last here! [...]

EVENT: Big Gigantic @ Terminal 5 2.16

EVENT: Big Gigantic @ Terminal 5 2.16 Big Gigantic is currently on their 2013 Winter Tour, which was much anticipated with varying opening artists depending on date but including Kill Paris , Manic Focus , HeRobust and Two Fresh . The amount of hype generated from the artists via social media as the New York date approaches is massive. Big Gigantic especially, after every date there’s a flood of posts ranging from pictures to statuses about how every show was better than the next. After releasing three new songs in the past four months, one featuring GRiZ, all of [...]

Soundgarden Played Terminal 5

On on Wednesday I went to Terminal 5 for the American Express concert featuring Soundgarden. Some people are acting weird because AMEX sponsored the show but if that means $15 tickets for Soundgarden then I don't give two flying fucks who sponsors it. Soundgarden is one of my all-time favorite bands and I've only seen them once before a couple summers ago in Philly. That was one of the best shows

Bloggy Goodness: Pete Shapiro Buys The Cap

Bloggy Goodness: Pete Shapiro Buys The Cap A little over a year ago we reported that after not hosting rock shows for well over a decade, Pete Shapiro had struck a long-term deal with the Capitol Theatre to bring music back to the legendary rock palace . Shapiro reportedly spent $2 million to lovingly restore and renovate the historic venue, which since reopening back in September has garnered rave reviews from concert goers. Earlier this week Shapiro upped his venue portfolio, as  according to the New York Times  the concert impresario went from renter to owner when he finalized a deal to [...]

Jane's Addiction played Terminal 5 (pics, videos, setlist) photos by Dana (distortion) Yavin Jane's Addiction are set to ring in the new year at Atlantic City's House of Blues tonight, and to warm up for that they came to NYC on Saturday (12/29) for a show at Terminal 5. They played a bit off of their late-period/reunion albums, but most of the set was split pretty evenly between the classic early albums with songs like "Mountain Song, "Jane Says," "Been Caught Stealing," and many others. The 15 Best Gigs of 2012 in The World (that I... The 15 Best Gigs of 2012 in The World (that I attended)! Primavera Sound at the Forum Barcelona, Spain:  Coverage My first experience at Primavera Sound was so amazing that it prompted me to purchase tickets for the following year prior to any lineup announcements. Just a few of the acts I saw were: The Cure, Saint Etienne (as the clock struck 12 on my birthday), Justice, The Xx, Sleigh Bells, Grimes, Friends, The Rapture, Franz Ferdinand, [...]

Animal Collective: December 4, 2012 Terminal 5 – Flac/MP3/Streaming

[photo courtesy of Two Sails ] Ever the new music innovators, for their tour in 2012 Animal Collective has gone retro. Over the last decade the band has slowly evolved into a purely electronic live act. And when founder Deakin took a "leave", the band was a trio for the last several years. But Deakin is back and so is a more traditional band layout on stage. At Terminal 5 earlier this month, Panda Bear spent the entire show playing a full drum set, Deakin was primarily on guitar and Avey Tare played [...]

Kurt Vile: December 1, 2012 Terminal 5 – FLAC/MP3/Streaming

[Photos courtesy of Dean Keim. See his Flickr stream [ HERE ]] It is hard not to be overshadowed a bit when you have the task faced by Kurt Vile and the Violators , who opened the epic Dinosaur Jr. 25th Anniversary Show last weekend at Terminal 5 . But, even facing an expectant crowd yearning for J. Mascis' guitar shredding (and that of a slew of special guests, including Kurt himself), Vile was not to be outdone so easily.  Since we last caught one of his sets opening for Yo La Tengo at Maxwell's [...]
