Last night it rained, not a furious rain falling in sheets but a steady drop by drop rain. I had my bedroom window opened, and I fell asleep to the sound of the drops. This morning when I woke up, the day was cloudy and damp. Since then the sun has taken over the sky and brightened the day. It's a pretty morning. The window view from here in the den is one of my favorites. The branches of the tall oak tree fill the window, and I get to watch the tree change every season. The leaves [...]

I played Elvis old hang-out in Ocean Springs last night and here's two interviews with me in the local newspapers. Unfortunately neither Ocean Springs Gazette nor Ocean Springs Record have a very reliable online presence so I've tried to post pictures big enough to read if you click them. Thanks to all who came out to see my show at the Julep Room! Interview in Ocean Springs Gazette Sofia Talvik in Ocean Springs Record

The Drivin' & Dreaming tour has landed in Seattle, WA which means we've made it cross country and finally hit the West Coast! And we couldn't have done it without you! We broke down in Idaho, but you came through for us and funded some new tires and ball joints and got us back on the road so THANK YOU to all of you who helped out with that!! Below you'll find a little video about it, and some pics from various shows around the country! You can find all the Drivin' & Dreaming pics here [...]

Sofia Talvik in front of the Swedish American Museum This Thursday I was invited to play at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago. What a great night it turned out to be. I've played at the museum once before, when I was on my Lollapalooza tour in 2008 so it was a real treat to be invited back. There were over 120 people in the audience and we had a very nice VIP reception before the show. Many thanks to Karin Moen Abercrombie and the other board members of the Swedish American [...]

Our cosy bedroom You know the rat in the pizza myth. So there's a couple of misperceptions about our tour and the RV, and some of them are so reaccuring that I felt I had to write a little post about it. Everyone's been really sweet and I know they all mean well and just don't know better but here's the most common things people think/ask/tell us about our tour and the RV. It always makes me smile "You can stay in our guest room and have a good [...]

Last year Ryan profiled up and comers Caveman , who were gaining some substantial and well-deserved buzz, while on the verge of dropping their debut full-length album Coco Beware . Last week the Brooklyn-based act , a band recommended for fans of the lo-fi psych-rock of Real Estate, Woods and The War On Drugs, released their first music video for the track Thankful. The clip embraces Caveman's wrestling referencing album title, thanks in part to help of the fine folks at the New York Wrestling Connection . Let's check it out... [...]

Here's the second live video of the songs from my new album TOANWTS (The Owls Are Not What They Seem). During my US tour "Drivin' & Dreaming" I'm going to record all the songs from the album and release on youtube as a live video album called "TOANWTS Acoustic Video Album". This song is called "The Garden" and was recorded at the Stavinoha's beach shack in Surfside, TX, that they let us stay at as a mini vacation to get some rest after our RV broke down in Austin, TX after SXSW. You can see and hear the ocean in [...]
It's been a while since we heard from Overhead, The Albatross, a Dublin-based instrumental six-piece. The last new material we heard from the group, which is still in its relative infancy, was the Mr Dog single last August, made up of two tracks with twists and turns around every corner. [Read more]

" Sofia has gotten the balance just right. It is amply- but neither under- or overly-produced. Vocal layering and instruments add just the right amount of texture to the material. Stunning. " TOANWTS reviewed by Musical Discoveries and was appointed 5 stars! Thanks Sofia Talvik photo: Gustaf Waesterberg
