"El Pasado Es Un Animal Grotesco" (The Past Is a Grotesque Animal) At The Wexner Center Tonight & Tomorrow

Click here to view the embedded video. El Pasado Es Un Animal Grotesco translates to (The Past Is a Grotesque Animal) which I guess you could ascertain in the header . The title comes from an Of Montreal song. It's written and directed by Mariano Pensotti . The play follows 4 people in Buenos Aires around over a ten year period and watches their lives unfold and unravel. Mr. Pensotti, I guess found 4 photographs and developed the story about these people from there. Although the play is [...]

27 Cast Albums, Six Words Each

I listened to all of these cast albums in about a month. Here's a 6-word observation about each one. 1. Sweeney Todd - (Angela Lansbury, Len Cariou) - This musical is a masterpiece. Period. 2. Sweeney Todd - (Michael Cerveris, Patti LuPone) - Stripping it down is often best. 3. Urinetown - Songs should approach narrative more obliquely. 4. Avenue Q - The most obvious things are hilarious.

Gelezen (42)

IN THEATERS: J. Edgar

IN THEATERS: J. Edgar They might as well cancel the Oscars this year, because with a lethal combination of Academy favorite Clint Eastwood directing and the always impressive Leonardo DiCaprio on-screen, you know J. Edgar is going to get nods for just about any important category. I don't know much about the history of J. Edgar Hoover, but I'm certainly going to find out when I check out this flick. I haven't read any reviews yet, but no way it's gonna be bad. J. Edgar opens today and is playing locally at the [...]

New River Phoenix Film To Hit Theaters Next Year

New River Phoenix Film To Hit Theaters Next Year Actor River Phoenix died way too young, having had a heart attack at the age of 23. The film he was working on when he unexpectedly died, had been shelved, until now. In 1993, Phoenix along with co-stars Judy Davis and Jonathan Pryce had nearly wrapped filming on a thriller titled Dark Blood . Then the unexpected happened when it's star dropped dead of a drug related heart attack on Halloween night outside a Hollywood nightclub. [...]

IN THEATERS: The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence

IN THEATERS: The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence The movie is finally going to get a Philly premiere. The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence has two special showings this weekend at the Ritz Bourse. The show tonight and Saturday start at 10:00PM as part of the Ritz's Reel Late series. The sequel looks sick. I like the change in plot line by writer/director Tom Six, making it an obsessed fan who tried to recreate the procedure completed in the original film. And this sicko tries to include 12 people in the process? That's super gnarly. Not sure if the showings are sold [...]

IN THEATERS: Tucker And Dale vs. Evil

IN THEATERS: Tucker And Dale vs. Evil Hillbilly white trash humor mixed with rad death scenes and gore? Sign me up. Tucker And Dale vs. Evil got great reviews and feedback at the festivals where it screened previously, includi ng SXSW and Sundance. The comedy-horror flick opens today at the Ritz Bourse and probably won't be around for too long. I believe it's available on Comcast On-Demand today as well, but don't quote me on that. Drawing comparisons to the cult favorites Evil Dead and Shaun Of The Dead , Tucker And Dale is the story of two friends [...]

'Limelight' documentary opens in theaters

'Limelight' documentary opens in theaters Limelight is a documentary about "the rise and fall of New York's greatest nightclub empire", or more specifically, about club owner Peter Gatien . Limelight was one of Gatien's four major NYC clubs, probably the most famous. Club USA, Palladium and Tunnel were the others and they're all featured in the movie as well. Limelight the club, though still standing on 6th Ave and 20th St in Manhattan (it's a historic church that had a recent failed attempt at being a mall ), is long gone, but Limelight the documentary, directed by Billy Corben [...]
