Hodgy and Thelonious make crack together.

"Let me dream like I'll never wake up." Vic Mensa is currently somewhere in the midwest, as the Kids These Days x Asher Roth tour rolls on. He called me about 20 minutes ago with news that he wanted to drop this record, "Acid Trips To Vegas". The record is from 2010, and is actually the first he recorded with Thelonious Martin. Vic stays true to title, weaving a trippy narrative of what happens when your brain's on drugs. Hopefully we'll see that joint EP soon. In other KTD news, they have a big Trap House [...]

Produced by Thelonious Martin. From the vaults of Vic Mensa comes this track from 2010, which marks his first collaboration with Thelo. There's a pretty crazy video for this one tucked away in the stash, too. Hopefully, you'll get to see it soon..

MOAR REMIXES!!!! The Legion of Doom ( DJ Nick Castle and Thelonious Martin ) take a Brandy and Grand Puba acapella and make it their bitch. Soundcloud stream and download link for the track AND the instrumental below.

OF crew member Hodgy Beats stopped by Ruby Hornet's Closed Session series over the summer and today the fruit of that work - a jazzy single called "Break Ya Neck" - popped up online. It's produced by beatmaker Thelonious Martin and you can nab it below. Read More...
When Odd Future hit Chicago during their North American tour this past summer, Hodgy Beats, with MellowHype-mate Left Brain by his side, made a pit stop to a record a track for Ruby Hornet's Closed ... read more

Closed Sessions and Ruby Hornet come through yet again today, this time with a brief new single from Hodgy Beats and Thelonious Martin . I love Hodgy in this format, quick stabbing lyrics over smooth production. I often get bored listening to Beats for more than one verse, which makes this less-than-a-minute jam all the more desirable. Plus, that jazzy Thelonious Martin loop is just perfect for someone like Hodgy to come in and wreck with a couple heavy-hitting bars. [ via ] Stream "Break Ya Neck" below.

Thelo provides the backdrop for this quick one from Hodgy via Closed Sessions . I definitely wouldn't be mad at a full collaborative effort from these two. Look for this one to live on Closed Sessions Vol. 3 .

artwork by St!zo Towards the end of the summer, Odd Future's U.S. tour hit the lovely city of Chicago. Before their show at the Vic Theater, Hodgy Beats and LeftBrain, who together form the group MellowHype, came through SoundScape for a Closed Session. Based what we've seen in videos and in concert, we braced ourselves for what we thought could be a raucous session. However, there was no need to put away the vintage Nuemann Vocal Mic from western Germany that day, as both LeftBrain and Hodgy just chilled out, listened to beats from Thelonious Martin, [...]

Chicago beatsmith Thelonious Martin and DJ Nick Castle come together to form the duo The Legion of Doom . As Legion of Doom these two take your favorite acapellas and reupholster the shit out of them with some new original, ugly-face hip-hop beats. For this go round they give Big L's classic single "Put It On" a new spin, flipping an all-too-familiar Bob James sample. And let me go on record to say I have no idea how I missed these two guys' collaborative work. I really must've been living under a rock for the [...]
After giving Nas' "Life's a Bitch" a whole new, Wu-Tang-inspired soundlift last week, storming new producers

artwork by St!zo So, uh, we got this new Closed Sessions song and documentary. It features this dude you may know from this one group called Odd Future. His name is Hodgy. He's dope. The producer is this kid with a beard who showed up at the studio one day, and really has never left. His name is Thelonious Martin. We want to release this record. We really do. Do you want to hear it? Let us know. Hit us on Twitter @rubyhornet and tell us to release #breakyaneck. If we could [...]

$tan Ro$$ and Thelonious Martin have a collaborative project dropping real soon. It's called The Adventures Of Dapghost & Beardguy Vol. 0 , and will not feature this oldie-but-goodie, "NkeTlk". Listen to it below.

Sulaiman and Thelonious Martin are apparently working on a new EP, which we'll be seeing sometime in the near future. They kick it off with "Young Black & Rich", peep it below.

prefix tipped this one, new tape from spitta and the track he dropped the day before, "talk my shit" w/ producer thelonious martin . dude grinds, he's low-key and releases a lot a lot of free shit, that's why I love him. holler at datpiff .

Thelonious Martin and DJ Castle recently linked to form a new age duo, using their unquestionably high knowledge of vinyl to create some dope sounds for the famns. "combining as diabolical forces to become The Legion Of Doom, these villains of vinyl create sinister remixes and blends for your ears. Deep from the depths of the Slaughter Swamp. THE L.O.D.!" Hit the jump to stream their first release "House By The Bayside"

"We collaborated on some shit today. I don't even know what it's called. Don't care. Just sounds good." And with that, our Closed Session with Hodgy Beats was finished. The Odd Future/MellowHype/MellowHigh emcee happened to come through the studio during down time in the windy city, where his Odd Future collective had a show later that night at the Vic Theater. Hodgy was calm and relaxed throughout the session, slightly different that the Hodgy we came to know through Odd Future's live shows and music videos. While we kind of expected Hodgy to come in, bounce [...]
Here at Potholes we recognize the plight of the listener/reader to keep up with everything we post. Trust me, it's difficult enough for us to get all the music posted that we want to share with y'all. We just took on several new writers, including electronic fiend Will Salzer, and our boy John Healey has really stepped it up with the daily posting duties. And after give these matters some thought, we decided to put together a weekly wrap-up of what we believe to be the best downloads of the past week. I want to emphasize that word [...]
