The Brooklyn-based Theophilus London has long been one of my favorite young hip-hop artists around because of his tendency to think outside the constraints of genre boundaries in his music. His sound, alternates seamlessly between his funk-infused, Pharrell-esque singing voice and smooth rapping vocals. London's music truly reflects progression in music as stringent classification becomes a thing of the past. In my last post I mentioned the fact that I love everything about jazz music. So, when I heard the new Theophilus London song (featuring A$AP Rocky) it went instantly into my iTunes. With a beat that features a driving, heavy bass and baritone saxophone line coupled with the rest of the instruments playing on the off beats you've got something great. Throw in a killer sample for the chorus, though, and you have a song that is GOLD with a dirty south rap feel. Enjoy! Enjoy! Steve

I didn't want to post A$AP twice in an hour but this is too much of a banger. Easily my favorite Theophilus London track so far. This track took quite a while to drop because the sample that it used set them back as far as clearance goes. I'm happy that it was able to get worked out because... well just click play and you'll understand. This is from Theo's Lover's Holiday II: Rose Island which drops May 15.

ASAP Rocky teamed up with Theophilus London to create "Big Spender" which is one of the dopest songs I've heard in a while. The two MCs out of New York collaborate and create one of the best tracks in a minute. Production from DJ Carnage is what really makes the track though, it's starts off with the swinging tunes of Big Spender and then as soon as either Theophilus or ASAP Rocky begins flowing it drops hard. The production during the flows of the two MCs brings a similar feel to that of "A Mili" with the steady hard grinding [...]
