East of LA's Jimbo Jenkins continues to stay on his DJ mix grind into the new year, with his new project "Dirty South Breaks". On this mix, Jimbo fuses some of the most known Southern a cappella's with Hip-Hop breakbeats. Our fondness for trill/trap Southern music here at East of LA is apparent, so with this project, it was Jimbo's goal to present this music in a way a hip-hop fan, who might be weary of the Southern trap style, would even enjoy. Where as you could easily imagine someone like KRS-One or Rakim rocking on [...]
Uncle Juicy keeps it trippy with a new video for one of the standout tracks from his Blue Dream and Lean mixtape, featuring East of LA artist and Westside Artgoon Craigslist Killer Speak! , alongside creative partner, Rvdxr Klvn's Spaceghost Purrp . This video was directed by frequent Juicy J collaborator, Jake Handegard . "Deez Bitches Rollin video! Me, purrp & Juice loaded as fuck having fun in pharrell's Miami studio this summer! Trippy times!" -Speak!
![[VideO] Juicy J feat. The Weeknd – Lucky Charm](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3974726_lg.jpg)
This first post of 2012 has me kind of confused: the video for Juicy J 's song "Lucky Charm" features almost four minutes of stylish interlude from The Weeknd before dropping into a track about finding "the one" and settling down. Hold up... SETTLE DOWN? JUICY???? Nah, I am not buying it! I'm not exactly sure what to think on first watch, but it's definitely a departure from what Juicy's been doing. Take a look & let me know what you think. [...]
Three 6 Mafia member and Oscar winner , Juicy J jumped on a dope, appropriately light-as-air track called "LIFT" with Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All cohorts Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis on a track produced by one of our favorite OF members, the never-dull Left Brain. After collaborations with Pusha T and The Game/Lil Wayne , this is the latest of the numerous co-signs Odd Future has seen from the mainstream rap community. Continue [...]
Damn, didn't French Montana and Juicy J just drop new mixtapes within the past couple weeks? Well, it's 2011, TC, what the f*ck is your point? Point taken and for [...]
While I love when Three 62s Juicy J and his production partner DJ Paul create the type of riot-inciting, elbow-throwing, mosh pit music they shut down clubs throughout the south [...]

I met legendary Memphis rap producer and Academy Award winner Juicy J once, about three years ago. It was one of the last days I was working at the Village Voice , and I'd gone across to the pizza place on St. Mark's and Astor Place, where I kept buying pizza even though the pizza was pretty bad. Juicy was in there, apparently with the same idea. He was wearing a T-shirt with "I LOVE HAVING SEX" on the front and "BUT I'D RATHER GET SOME HEAD" on the back; this was the chorus to Three 6 Mafia's then-current [...]

Earlier this year, Juicy J, one half of the legendary Memphis fight-rap team Three 6 Mafia, teamed up with producer Lex Luger to release the hard-as-fuck Rubba Band Business 2 mixtape, an effort that deserves a spot on a few year-end lists. Since then, he's joined Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang crew, and now he's released his first mixtape as a Taylor Gang member. Wiz shows up on the new Blue Lean & Dream , as do a few other of-the-moment young rappers, like ASAP Rocky, Spaceghostpurrp, and, um, Kreayshawn. Juicy's older brother Project [...]

In this current Internet-fueled trend cycle where a lot of acts entire careers can be summed up as "hot right now, not hot five seconds later", it's interesting how Kreayshawn , the controversial "fem-cee" who exploded as an World Wide Web sensation six months ago with viral-hit "Gucci Gucci" only to be torn apart by numerous think-pieces analyzing every aspect of her...erm "artistry" a short while later, now seems like she's entering some sort of "comeback" phase in her still-infant career. Following a brief period of silence that had us wondering whether, between the Rick [...]

D.a.N.'s "Don't Stop" mashup runs through quite a few samples with ease, but at times feels off. One listen I'll be feeling it all the way through, while another I'll catch a few transitions that sound more like two songs than a harmonious one. D.a.N.'s biggest strength is his diversity in sounds, but at the same time that makes it all the more tricky to get just right. There's a lot of potential here, but keeping it all fluid & flowing well will be D.a.N.'s biggest challenge. D.a.N. - Don't Stop [...]

By now, most of you have thoroughly entertained yourself with repeated listens from Yelawolf's "Throw It Up," featuring a hilarious Eminem cameo and a random, yet well-placed reemergence from Gangsta [...]

New one using some familiar and not so familiar samples. Peep it. Let me know if you dig it or hate it in the soundcloud comments! Who Juke It (Three 6 Mafia) - DJ Real Juicy by Real Juicy

Three 6 Mafia has had one of the most interesting and productive careers in hip-hop history. What started off as an underground outfit focused on horror-tinged street tales gradually evolved into a mini-empire led by DJ Paul and his partner Juicy J (the only two perpetual members of the group) that has increasingly leaned toward a more mainstream sound. The songs are still hardened and often horrific (DJ Paul's latest single, "Mad at Me", riffs on the Halloween theme), but in an infectious, energy-boosting kind of way that feels right at home on the dance floor. On top [...]
