The Daydream Club From: Leicestershire, United Kingdom In the first of a series of four remixes from folksie acoustic duo the Daydream Club which will be released every two weeks over the summer you get two great bands for the prices of one. Not only do you get the Daydream Club trying their stripped back folk bitten hands at some jet propelled dance beats but you get the haunting vocals of Tigers That Talked's Jamie Williams. It's the sound of folk heading for the [...]

Whether you listen to an artist because they sound good or because you've been attracted by their name, either item always seems to be one of two reasons you've discovered any number of songs in your music library. Remember the old days before iTunes when you would look at the album cover and say, "Yup, I'm going to buy this". Now that times have changed and music is so readily available to us, it still comes down to the band name itself that can either make or break our decision to even listen to the artist. The list below represents [...]

More than eleven hundred tunes were put out there to showcase the bands appearing at SXSW this year and over the next few days we're going to listen to every one of them. We'll be posting our favourites in digest form, no long explanations just the songs and links to where you can find out more about the bands. Hope you enjoy the discoveries as much as we do. ~~~ A buffalo of a tune, has indie anthem written all over it. Tigers That Talked - 23 Fears [...]
1. Oh No! Yoko- 90s kids every ounce of me wants to hate this song but i can't.Just like riding a razor scooter you know how it looks to others and you know not all of your friends are going to understand but that doesn't matter because it just feels right 2. acid house kings-are we lovers or are we friends? Before heading down to bloomington last week I was making up a mix for my brother and originally slated this as track one. Then after wise considerations scratched it [...]

READER'S DIGESTVOL. 21Hey folks, this week has been a weird one. You got three mean servings of 3 Buck Chuck, a four song post, and no album review... Hopefully, you agree that most of these things are good things. The lack of the album review may have been a bit of a let down, but that can be chalked up to the 24-hour drive I made yesterday with Lino, KQ, and the Tumbler. Alas, I am not here to
BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD(Electronic Indie)Blackbird Blackbird aka Bye Bye Blackbird aka Mikey Sanders proclaims himself as a dream pop artist. From the forward-thinking land of San Francisco, CA comes the latest single off the artist's forthcoming LP and it is just the right mixture of palatable pop and eclectic electronica. I'm not sure whether adding an 'a' to the end of 'electronic' changes its

Since forming Tigers That Talked in 2006, singer-songwriter and guitarist Jamie Williams, bassist Owain Kelly, violinist Glenna Larsen and drummer Chris Verney have been patiently and meticulously honing their sound while releasing a series of critically acclaimed singles. The result of their fortitude is The Merchant , a truly special debut record. Beautiful and fragile yet uplifting and defiant, The Merchant is a collection of songs that combine the emotional depth associated with art-folk with a pop sensibility that will no doubt appeal to mainstream audiences. The [...]
25. Stars – The Five Ghosts Holds up really well upon repeated listens, unlike it's predecessor. Though, frustratingly, the title track didn't end up on the album. 24. Action Action – The Ones Who Get It Are The Ones Who Need Not To Know Despite an annoying lead vocalist (who kind of grows on you [...]

Leeds quartet Tigers That Talked has been bringing fans and critics to a slow boil with a steady stream of strong singles over the last several months, but now it's apparently time to piss or get off the pot. Their full-length debut, The Merchant , dropped in the UK a few weeks back in the wake of the album's kinetic lead single, 23 Fears (Summer '10) , which is available as a free download . 23 Fears (Summer '10) has a definite [...]
"Another fear for every year... watch out here comes another one" The blog seems to have something of a tiger fetish recently, what with Fear of Tigers the other day and now this... it's just a tiger-themed fiesta for all involved. Leeds-based Tigers That Talked sound nothing like I'd imagine talking tigers to sound like, and thank fuck for that. No, their vibe is much, much softer and infinitely more [...]

Words: Gareth O'Malley Calling a band 'the next (insert well-known band here)' is both a blessing and a curse. The potential that such comparisons point to can often go unfulfilled, and the hype machine can often get it disastrously wrong. We're of the opinion that new bands have no business being 'the next' anyone, and should always seek to succeed on their own merits. One easy, knock-off comparison that could be made in this review is that Tigers That Talked are the 'British successor to Arcade Fire ' or something equally as ludicrous. [...]

Leeds based band TIGERS THAT TALKED have started up recording again as of late late year (August 2009), and are in the process of putting together their debut album, The Merchant, due for release this year. As we don't have a track from that upcoming release, we've decided to grab one from the "Black Heart, Blue Eyes" E.P released in June 2009, as an introduction to the network. If you are curious about the name of the band, it comes from the book "In Watermelon Sugar" by Richard Brautigan. Tigers That [...]

Hello hello, it's Friday Friday and man o' man another fun weekend ahead! Lots of craftin' and artsin' and cyclin' and even a little road trippin' to Cincinnatin' for a photoshoot. This time, it's Baby's turn to get in front of the lens (tech speak, sorry) and amazing photographer and model Claudia's turn to shoot! Now, I'll be there, camera(s) in tow, to shoot the shoot (did I just blow yer mind???) as 1) I want [...]

Ok so a week into 2010 is a bit late for a "best of 20093 post but any regular readers (are there any?) will know i've had problems with hard-drives, my internet connection, my laptop in general and more recently some other stuff has came up that has prevented regular posting recently. But back to the post.. Deciding on the songs and the order of them for this Top 30 was a hard decision (the Top 30 albums was even harder, post that at the weekend) [...]
I've missed far too much music in the past year to make a proper best of list, so instead, here's a list of 22 songs that I've loved from 2009. Listed in alphabetical order, not preference. Even though all of them are bloody good. 4 or 5 Magicians - Preaching to the Converted So 2009 didn't turn out to be the year that 4 or 5 Magicians finally "made it". They did manage to put out their first proper album though, and despite a few missteps, it's an excellent start. [...]
