Times New Viking opened this past weekend's Celebrate! Brooklyn Free Concert Series in Prospect Park. The trio of midwesteners played a short set with offerings from thier newest release Dancer Equired . Real Estate began their set with a couple new cuts from their newest album Days . Real Estate are set to release their sophomore album, Days , on October 18 (Domino) featuring the single "It's Real," available for download . The 10-track album was recorded in upstate New York alongside Kevin McMahon (The Walkmen, Titus Andronicus ). Tomorrow night (Friday, 7/1) Times New Viking will play its last Columbus show of the year, which bums me out. But, a roast hosted by none other than Ron House (Great Plains, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments) should add some levity to the evening. House's band, Psandwich , will also play (full-length coming soon), as will kindred spirits Mike Rep and Tommy Jay . If I didn't have to travel out of town, there is no way I'd miss this.
