Guilty Ghosts // "Tinted Windows" (feat. Guerre) I saw this track posted on Boy Attractions (one of my favorite blogs) yesterday but I didn't get a chance to listen to it. Then today I was reminded of it when Guilty Ghosts (Tristan O'Donnell) actually sent it to me. There was no excuse to pass over it a second time, so I listened to it and was really kinda blown away. I had heard Guilty Ghosts in the past, so I was familiar with Tristan's music. It always seemed to float [...]

Guilty Ghosts — Tinted Windows (Featuring Guerre) We featured Tristan O'Donnell's Guilty Ghosts project back in August, when he had just sent his killer Enigma Variations tape rippling through the stratosphere. Well now he's back with "Tinted Windows", an outstanding new single from his Veils full-length (out this summer). While his previous two releases were strictly instrumental, melding beat-driven ambience with Mogwai-style guitar builds, "Tinted Windows" [...]
Finally I have got around to making my top ten albums of 2009 list. So what is the homercat criteria for being a "best" album. I could go into all the things I gauge it on, but it simply boils down to which full albums did I listen to the most after purchasing them. I have listened to the albums on this list countless number of times and personally I am thrilled to death with each and every one. My list looks like no other top ten list from last year and that's the way I [...]
In news that's not surprising in the slightest, last year's supergroup, Tinted Windows , have decided to call it a day. But before they go, the band - which sports members Taylor Hanson, James Iha, Adam Schlesinger, and Bun E. Carlos - wants to release one more single ("Back With You") off of their titular debut , which surfaced early last year. Hanson told Spinner that the band's "toying" with the idea of recording in Japan, but insists that "[he's] probably saying too much." He adds, "We're not saying that we're ending the chapter completely," says [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , New Music , Exclusive Before heading off for a tour of Japan this month, Tinted Windows will perform what is likely to be its final US gig for the foreseeable future. The show is a special one-off, as the pop rock supergroup comprising Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos , Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha , Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger and Hanson 's Taylor Hanson [...]
Desperation breeds strange activity Tinted Windows has earned the worst of everything for my year-end post. These distinct merits include Worst Band of the Year/Decade, Worst album, Worst Song, Worst Video and Worst Lip-Synching in said video. I cannot fathom the evil quantum physics that had to coagulate for these musicians to form a band. Tinted Windows - Messing With My Head I can understand why James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and the guy from Fountains of Wayne would hook-up with Taylor Hanson (yes, [...]

For every band, there's always a disenfranchised member who wants to do more. Maybe get a little more exposure, come out from behind the drums, or even hear some of his lyrics actually being sung back at him (or her). Maybe that's the problem. Maybe it's a female tired of hanging out with these smelly guys all the time. Well, how come there's no Meg White solo record? Sideprojects are predominantly a man thing. Men seem to lose it when trapped in one groove and want to move on (note, this is no way a reflection on me or my [...]

Really all you need to know is that this interview is with Zac , the youngest brother of Hanson . If seeing the word "Hanson" here means something to you, read on because you'll probably be surprised by how much you didn't know about this group and how far they've come since "MMMBop." If Hanson doesn't mean something to you, read on because you clearly have been living under a rock and need to become aware. Plus, this interview has a dance off challenge. Bethany, PopWreckoning: You guys are about to start your [...]

Back in March at South By Southwest , our Joshua got to sit down in a downtown Austin coffeeshop and chat up the lovely and uber-talented Anya Marina , whose become a Popwreckoning favorite since the very first listen of A Slow and Steady Seduction: Phase II (still one of our most listened to albums!). Joshua, PopWreckoning: I know you wanted a fun interview, but I have to ask you at least two musical questions. Anya Marina: No problem. OK. [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News During Tinted Windows ' Washington, D.C. appearance at the Black Cat Tuesday night, a stranger wandered across the stage holding a small camera. The interloper was carefully documenting the group as they performed 'Back With You,' off their self-titled debut album. The band members didn't blink an eye, which made only slightly more sense when bassist Adam Schlesinger announced, "Mr. Quentin Tarantino , ladies and gentleman!" Apparently this was no random stage crasher, nor was it actually Tarantino. [...]

Saturday night, Philly locals Free Energy took the stage at the TLA supporting super group Tinted Windows . Free Energy started their performance early before 9PM, so when I walked in, the guys were well into rocking out to their synth-sounding riffs and high enery dance rock. The floor was only filled up about one quarter of its capacity, but the small group was definitely feeling Free Energy's groove. Free Energy – "Free Energy" Loxley played second and from [...]

So, if you've been paying attention, and my guess is you haven't, you've most likely heard about Tinted Windows —A power-pop Supergroup consisting of Smashing Pumpkins ' James Iha , Fountains of Wayne 's Adam Schlesinger , Hanson 's Taylor Hanson , and Cheap Trick 's Bun. E Carlos . And I'll be the first one to say it….they're good. Really good. Popwreckoning's Los Angeles writer, Sara Swiecki, got the chance to talk to Schlesinger for a bit, and here's what came of [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive Call it a case of Christmas in July. Adam Schlesinger, of Fountains of Wayne and Tinted Windows fame, and David Javerbaum, the former executive producer of 'The Daily Show,' landed themselves an Emmy nomination for 'Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics' for their song, "Much Worse Things,' which was part of Comedy Central's holiday special, 'A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest_thumbnail.Gift of All!' Schlesinger and Javerbaum wrote eight original holiday-themed songs for the show, which premiered Nov. 23 and featured song performances by Colbert, Jon [...]

Not only did you get Saturday's billed bands of Tinted Windows, Urge Overkill and the Posies, you also got a guest appearance from Evan Dando. Cool! Eep! After a week off, we're back with more fun and ear shattering events for this weekend... Taste Of Randolph Street Festival season is in full swing! This year's Taste Of Randolph features the soothing '60s rock sounds of Dr. Dog on Friday June 19, that whacky Smashing Pumpkins/Cheap Trick/Fountains Of Wayne/Hanson super-group Tinted Windows on Saturday June 20, and midwest favorites The Hold Steady close out the festival on Sunday June 21. Friday 6/19 5:00 [...]

It's been a pretty hectic week for me here at Citizen Dick's Chicago outpost. Between cracking down on the job search, scrambling to find a new apartment before the first, and preparing to get my birthday on this weekend I haven't had a whole lot of time to listen to new music. As such, today's Hodge Podge is going to be short and sweet. Now I know I've said that before and then gone on to type neatly 1500 words anyway, but this time I mean it. Besides, it's my birthday and I make the rules, so even if I [...]
You may have heard of the new group Tinted Windows which is comprised of rock-careerists James Iha formerly of Smashing Pumpkins, Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne fame, a geriatric out of Cheap Trick and the fertile one from Hansen . Obviously you are wondering "How in the hell did that come about?" Let James and Adam, who are hosting this week's show -another "Classics" themed affair-, explain.

>> More photos on Flickr Tinted Windows @ The Borgata, Atlantic City, NJ (5/2/09) Tinted Windows is a power-pop supergroup consisting of guys from Hanson (Taylor Hanson), Smashing Pumpkins (James Iha), Fountains of Wayne (Adam Schlesinger), and Cheap Trick (Bun E. Carlos)... as you can see, they pretty much got the full demographic age spectrum covered. On stage, they look like a totally random mismatch of personalities; however, their sound is just about as awesome as you imagine it would be... and I don't mean [...]

Though from New Jersey, Super Satellite 's British overtones give their brand of rock a unique sound. The four-piece rocked out as SXSW this year and PopWreckoning editors Bethany and Joshua took some time to talk to the group about their latest release, recording at a legendary studio and their plans for the future. Check it out: Bethany Smith, PopWreckoning: So, you guys are from New Jersey, did you all meet there? How did you form? Christian Edwards, Super Satellite : I was playing with a [...]
