Back in the dim and distant days of Tiny Dancing, when we didn't really exist, and were not people of art, we used to talk about stuff and then make that talking available for people to listen to, if they were that way inclined. You know the type. Then we stopped doing that, didn't do anything at all for a bit, then started doing Tiny Dancing as a venerable publication of the great and the good, which you know about, because we tell you about it often enough. But we'd stopped talking, and if [...]

I am built for heat. Anyone who knows me knows that I am built for heat. But even then on a day such as this, when weather forecasters have to look up what we call it when temperatures get above twenty-nine degrees (start at 'thirty' chaps, and work your way up from there), I have made some classic errors. Firstly, I've started watching a new television series that is rather good, and have powered through the first four episodes without as much as mopping my brow with a moist wipe. Answers on a postcard as to what that [...]

jotta: Absolut London from jotta on Vimeo . We told you ALL through the medium of 'social networking' that Tiny Dancing was taking part in the jotta curated zine exhibition as part of the Dazed Live weekend t'other week, and if you look very carefully at the video above, you might be able to see issues 3, 4 and 5 minding their own business in the corner somewhere, like content, well behaved puppies. You see, we were being truthful. It was a rare honour for our modest publication [...]

First of all let me say that I've been meaning to write this post for months, I've wanted to do a "where are they now" style post as I find them great to read on other people's blogs. So what I've decided to do is look back at one of earliest posts entitled If I Didn't Have The Internet I Wouldn't Be In To Them (and they know so...) and go through the bands on there to see what they're up to now. The Whip After hearing their fantastic track Trash, which has now had 500k [...]

Please don't be angry. Please don't be annoyed. Yes, it's taking a little bit longer than expected to sort out Issue 3. And yes, the crushing pressure of our own mortality means that is not a good thing (and it's all my fault to boot). It's not far off though, and to try and win back a little bit of your patronic favour may we present you with the future-not-real-version of Issue 2, for the downloading thereof. Now, cards on the table time - there are pros and cons with this particular incarnation. Yes, it's more [...]

With Issue 2 now firmly in the 'being thought about quite a lot' stage, and most of the copies of Issue 1 now in the hands of... someone, we thought it was about time we gave 'it' to you in a computerised version for downloading. Now we know we said the entire point of our new endeavouring was to give you something that was a real thing, but come now - we are not completely without fingers in the future pie. And no doubt by now the real life copies out there in the possession [...]

Historical Context Ban Ki Moon becomes UN Secretary of State (I guess they didn't like my suggestion of Ozzy Osbourne). The iPhone is launched, creating great excitement among the large swathes of the population who still seem to believe that Apple is cool and different. The Doomsday Clock is advanced to 5 minutes before midnight. This is not as awesome as death metal fans would have you believe. The Orange Revolution occurs in the Ukraine, leading us one step closer to running out of colours for names of revolutions. Nicolas Sarkozy becomes [...]

I'm currently living in Sheffield, UK, home to a disproportionate number of massive musical successes for a city of about 500,000 people. Joe Cocker, Def Leppard, the Human League, Tony (I don't care about the route to Amarillo) Christie, Pulp, Richard Hawley and the Arctic Monkeys have all come from this part of South Yorkshire (Christie is actually from Conisbrough, but close enough). In addition to these big icons, the city is home to a thriving local music scene, with talented bands who haven't got the recognition they deserve, and excellent music venues to hear live music. The success of [...]

I've just read that Tiny Dancers have split. They were my guilty pleasure, an album I really enjoyed and when you broke the album down it had no reason to be a guilty pleasure. Free School Milk was a well crafted album full of quality writing. The band are going on to solo projects and have promised not to be the "Joey" to Tiny Dancers' "Friends". Thanks for the music gents. What better track to post than the last song on the album. It certainly shows their cooler side. [...]

Girl Talk's sexy, sweaty show of Top 40 and classic mix-mashes brought thousands to the free Jelly Pool Party at the Williamsburg waterfront on Sunday night.

British singer Elton John has dedicated one of his classic songs to Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon. Sir Elton made dedicated the song, Tiny Dancer, during his 1 August concert at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Witherspoon, her two children and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal were attending the show when Elton made his surprise dedication. The group were all on their feet through much of the outdoor show and were even shown on the big screen, much to the approval of the rest of the music legend's fans. The actress is in Philadelphia shooting [...]
I had a much more difficult time compiling the list this week than I did last week, and I have several theories why. Most importantly, I blame the fickleness of the British music press. They are always in such a rush to heap praise on the latest thing to come along (and all to often turn on these same bands within about 3 months of their debut release), meaning that many, many bands get hyped at some point or another as the next big thing. Most of them don't make it, but they are often far from overlooked. Add to [...]
