Punk is not dead. I'm tempted to just finish the write-up right there: a four-word zen koan for all of you to parse over. Just pull a Mr. Miyagi and drop the mic. In the interest of being informative, though, here are some things to know about this song. It's called "Son of an American." It's about commercialism and xenophobia. It's funny and biting at the same time. It's also vicious and catchy as all hell. It's by a band called The So So Glos , who are the patron saints of Shea Stadium [...]

I hadn’t heard of Andrew Cedermark's work before opening an email about his new single, “Canis Major.” Culled from his forthcoming sophomore album, Home Life , which is due out in the middle part of July through Underwater Peoples , the track is a rousing introduction to the artist. As it turns out, Cedermark is the former guitarist for Titus Andronicus, though if you’d only heard this track, you might not be able to tell. On its face, the track reminds me of a cross between Damien Jurado and Andrew Bird, though Cedermark can turn up [...]
Hilly Eye is the collaborative duo of former Titus Andronicus member Amy Klein (guitars, vocals) and Catherine Tung (drums, vocals). Inspired by Osaka noise band Afrirampo, Klein and Tung have crafted a band focused on experimenting with noise and melody. Their music drifts between quiet [...]
Titus Andronicus Local Business XL/Beggars Group Are you familiar with the concept of an earworm? It's a simple concept, really. An earworm is a song that gets stuck in the listener's head after one play and refuses to go away. They're nasty buggers. No one of their own volition walks around to the tune of "Who Let's the Dog Out." People who do choose such a life inevitably find themselves behind bars. Jerry Sandusky? The Penn State molester let the dogs out. So did, James Holmes, the batman [...]

Titus Andronicus follow-up the infectious " In a Big City ", the lead single from their forthcoming album Local Business , with an even more infectious and raucous rock anthem. The track, titled "Still Life with Hot Deuce and Silver Platter", doesn't win any appreciation for its lengthy title, but the addicting nature of its rumbiling guitar riffs and sing-a-long friendly verses make it a solid song from start to finish. Speaking of singing along, the song has an accompanying lyric video which you can watch below. Local Business is out on October [...]

New Jersey rock outfit Titus Andronicus will be releasing their third studio LP Local Business next month, and today they've let loose the album artwork (pictured above) as well as the lead single. "In a Big City" is accompanied by a lyric video, a pretty awesome one at that. Check out the replay below to hear the lead single alongside images of Futurame , Lil Wayne, black holes, and more. Local Business is out on October 22nd via XL, and after the jump you can take a look at [...]
Don't let the plain jane cover art fool you, Titus Andronicus never disappoint with their hearty blend of punk and indie rock. Local Business is the band's third album and will release October 22nd through XL Recordings. Check out the first single from the new album, "In A Big City", after the jump.
While it may be difficult to judge an artist and an upcoming album on one song, that's never stopped me before and it's certainly isn't going to stop me from drawing conclusions on Titus Andronicus' forthcoming album Local Business based on the lead track, "In a Big City." For one thing, the tempo is much more reserved than what we've come to expect from Patrick Stickles and his frantic band of Jersey punks. Plus, now that one can decipher what he's saying (even without the lyrics included in the stream above), it's clear that he's positioning himself as [...]

Last night, Titus Andronicus frontman Patrick Stickles appeared on Tom Scharpling's The Best Show on WFMU marathon, during which he premiered the band's new single titled "Upon Viewing Oregon's Landscape with the Flood of Detritus (Andronicus)." The song can be heard below at the 2:37:00 mark. According to Stickles, the song will be released as a split single with tour mates Diarrhea Planet, although there was no mention of when the single would be released. As well, Titus Andronicus' long awaited follow-up to 2010's The Monitor may [...]

Tweet The number of times I've listened to a song with talking involved and enjoyed it are so rare that only three examples come to mind; the first being Titus Andronicus ' " A More Perfect Union ," the second being all of Paul Baribeau 's perfectly written songs which I think count as talking, and now Bombadil 's " A Question ." There's something in this practically self-deprecating song that feels both Bishop Allen [...]
Earlier today, Patrick Stickles, the now beardless frontman of Titus Andronicus , let loose a video of him covering Lana Del Rey 's breakthrough hit " Video Games ," which has become one of the most covered songs of the year. The cover, recorded in Stickles' parent's living room on Boxing Day, shows off his skills on the piano, and, despite being admittedly out of tune , the cover seems to have meant a lot to the New Jersey rocker. Before releasing the cover video, Stickles took to his Twitter and went on one of [...]
Our love for Titus Andronicus , our generation’s Civil-War-concept-album-crafti ng, New-Jersey-celebrating, live-show-shredding answer to Bruce Springsteen, knows no bounds, and now that they’ve added “FCC-violating-Coldplay-cove ring” to that list of descriptive adjectives, we think those bounds have been extended a little more. ![[Listen] Titus Andronicus and The So So Glos - "Glory Days" (Bruce Springsteen Cover)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3925046_lg.jpg)
New Jersey-based band Titus Andronicus are a nice group of people, as our interview with Sleeper Agent's Alex Kandel can attest to, and the band has once again shown that they really do appreciate their fans. This time around, the band's lead singer Patrick Stickles let loose a cover of Bruce Springsteen 's "Glory Days" via his Twitter account. The cover sees brand new Titus Andronicus member Liam Betson on vocals doing his best Springsteen, while the rest of the band, with the help of Brooklyn band The So So Glos, adds their [...]
ALOHA! by RAD FRNDS Diarrhea Planet don't suck nearly as much as their name does. Their debut EP ALOHA! was released as a 73 earlier this year on Evil Weevil Records , and is filled with joyful, life-affirming power pop with a lo-fi edge. Most of its songs don't even approach two minutes, nor do they need to. Short and sweet is the formula here, but not too sweet-as the name Diarrhea Planet may suggest, these guys don't mind getting a little dirty. With sloppy guitar work and rousing, shouted vocals, there is a [...]
![[Introducing] – Young Jesus](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3194837_lg.jpg)
One thing I've discovered about being involved with a site like this is that you never know what the day is going to bring. There's nothing like the sheer pleasure of coming across a band you've never heard of, having no preconceived ideas about what they are going to sound like and then being blown away when you hear that first track. Young Jesus, happily, provided me with that pleasure today. Coming from the northern suburbs of Chicago, Young Jesus are made up of four members; John Rossiter, Shawn Nystrand, Cody Kellogg, and Peter Martin. They have been [...]
Titus Andronicus | MySpace Music Videos I will admit that I have been out of the loop the last few days, however, it's mostly due to the move (to our new apartment), UFC 111 ( which I covered at InsideFights/FoxSports ) and this God-awful stomach issue that I have been having the last two days. Fun times. That clip, that's Titus Andronicus and their clip for "A More Perfect Union" from their recently released album, The Monitor . Do you love them already? [...]
