With South by Southwest now just a month away, we thought today would be a good day to announce one of our events. As per the above poster, Consequence of Sound will set up shop at the Beauty Bar on Wednesday, March 14th for the first annual CoSigns unofficial day party. (If you don't get it, click here .) Presented by Louisville, Kentucky's Forecastle Festival , the six-hour long event will feature eight bands playing two stages, with the mighty Cloud Nothings and Titus Andronicus serving as headliners. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Liam the Younger is the project of Liam Betson, a man who's spent some time playing with his friends, Titus Andronicus . But, that's about all he shares, or at least his music shares, with his friends, as After the Graveyard is a stripped down affair of bedroom folk tunes. It's just now being released by Underwater Peoples , after being stored [...]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Once again, Liam Betson is the man behind the recent Liam the Younger releases. This is his second album under the moniker, finally seeing release (on the same day as the first) after being stored away, then shared with a few friends along the way. While his association with Titus Andronicus is probably an easy point for critics to point at, there's definitely something else going on beneath this set of songs, all of which benefit from an expanded [...]

If there is one band that always manages to surprise the hell out of me, it's Fucked Up. I remember listening to their demo and Epic in Minutes back when it came out and thinking they were pretty solid hardcore band, but not the messiahs of hardcore many were touting them to be. Now ten years later they release "David Comes To Life" and not only are the 'too cool for school' writers at Pitchfork collectively jizzing their pants over it, it's listed as #83 of Billboard's Top 200 of 2011... Self-titled albums are one thing. But when a band names one of its songs after itself - or, alternately, when a band names itself after one of its songs - it's a pretty big deal. The song itself comes off looking something like a mission statement, an encapsulation of everything that the band means. When Bad Company names a song "Bad Company," they want you to know that this song is what they're all about . Not too many bands have been brave enough to attempt this trick throughout history. For some reason, a lot of [...]
If rock 'n' roll has always tried to distance itself from popular culture/ industry as much as it can (which may not be much at all, despite Johnny Rotten's best efforts ), indie rock has been particularly adamant in its (usually doomed) refusal. Indie rockers only support independent musicians at small venues, with iPhones in the pockets of our Urban Outfitters jeans. When faced with these contradictions, some cringe, look away or maybe even pour out some PBR in mourning. However, sometimes it's simply too much to take, like when the superheroes of M83 licensed "Midnight City" to Victoria's [...]

Let me save you some trouble by telling you I already tried google image seaching Dinowalrus and all I got were pictures of the band. No dinosaurs with walrus tusks and mustaches... or a walrus with the tail of a dinosaur, and those little t-rex arms. Now admitted, the pictures of the band were pretty cool, but they were no real life dinowalrus. Right! Well, with such an epic name you'd expect Dinowalrus to have the chops to back it up and they don't disappoint. With former Titus Andronicus guitarist Pete Feigenbaum leading [...]

As we slowly move into 2012, there's a lot of interesting music beginning to trickle out our way. One of the first acts to catch my attention is Dinowalrus , a band with some ties to Titus Andronicus - just don't expect to hear the same post-rock storytelling. This track begins with a bit of a dreamy state, and while the vocals maintain that effect, you'll get a bit more of a trance-induced swing pushed on by cascading guitar lines. If, like me, you're digging what you hear, you can [...]

Here's a revelation: the music industry never sleeps. One would think the holiday season would be a time of rest. "Only Santa works these hours," your mother might have said ages ago. Not in the digital era. Not when Twitter enables artists to be their own publicist, label, and distributor. (We love you Patrick Stickles.) Consequently, yours truly spent Christmas afternoon stringing together the words "Merry eX-Mas and Suck My Dick." Sorry, Mom! Below you can find a recap of news coverage from the last two weeks. Among the major themes: Mixtapes, covers, and more money for Adele. [...]

![[Listen] – Bombadil – "A Question"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3955866_lg.jpg)
Tweet The number of times I've listened to a song with talking involved and enjoyed it are so rare that only three examples come to mind; the first being Titus Andronicus ' " A More Perfect Union ," the second being all of Paul Baribeau 's perfectly written songs which I think count as talking, and now Bombadil 's " A Question ." There's something in this practically self-deprecating song that feels both Bishop Allen [...]

The recently electrocuted and now beardless singer posted a voice and piano cover of Del Rey's breakout song 'Video Games' on Youtube. The video, recorded in his parents' house, is "intended to be very tonally pleasing, and not at all ironic or funny," [...]
