Spin have offered up this video of St. Vincent laying down a few tracks during her recent cover shoot for Spin Magazine . After performing her recent track "Surgeon" which was welcomed warmly by the internet she decided to offer up a performance of Tom Waits' track, "Tango Till They're Sore". Enjoy both tracks at the top courtesy of Spin and look out for St. Vincent releasing Strange Mercy on September 13th.

The St. Vincent Strange Mercy cycle is furiously churning right now. So, if you're all the way through the rabbit hole on this one, here's a video of St. Vincent covering Tom Waits' "Tango Till They're Sore" for Spin as well as performing an acoustic version of her awesome " Surgeon ." Strange Mercy is out 9/13 via 4AD .

We first heard St. Vincent's Annie Clarke tackle the great Tom Waits as part of a recent tribute tour for his 1985 classic Rain Dogs . Now, SPIN Magazine brings us video of Clarke's latest Waits cover, an acoustic take on Rain Dogs' "Tango Till They're Sore". You couldn't have ordered up a more perfect New York City night for Deer Tick's free show at Pier 54 than last night, as temperatures hovered somewhere in the low 80s and a cool breeze came rolling off the Hudson River. This is rather nice.  It's really simple too, and looks (the rigours of stop-motion animation notwithstanding) like it wasn't too tricky to make, either. I have been wondering this about music videos recently: what exactly makes a proper 'music video' these days?  A while back that was easy: it was something awesome for MTV.  Since the rise of the internet, though, videos have started to serve a very different purpose.
