Today I'm featuring videos 3 excellent videos from past, present and future releases... Past: Gauntlet Hair released this video with a little help from ol' Hollywood. Yep, Arnold Schwarzenegger 's entire movie career can pretty much be summed up in this one video for Top Bunk . Present: Teeel 's University Heights references multiple movies from the 80s: Everything from Back To The Future , Gremlins and [...]

So reticent, reclusive, and resultantly anonymous are Gauntlet Hair that when they swing by to hammer in an ear or two it's almost worth hiking to whichever far-flung nook it may be that they've been booked into to in turn wreck the crap out of just to witness firsthand who the enigmatic duo behind the sepia-doused Instagram snaps on their rather rudimentary website really are. Tonight the outlying cranny is Dalston's Shacklewell Arms, where Novella are unleashing a fierce grunge revival like it's last month all over again . They this time [...]
Tweet Listen to and download the new Gauntlet Hair track "My Christ" , from their album "Gauntlet Hair" . It's been almost two years since we were smitten by Gauntlet Hair 's all-encompassing chest-thumping sound, and now they're releasing the third single from their debut self-titled album. Previously we've heard, and seen, tracks "Top Bunk" (one of my [...]

by Nastia What does "gauntlet hair" sound like to you? Perhaps chainmail-clad jousters in some Renaissance Fair reenactment? Or a death metal band with spiked hair and spiked jackets? It’s a bizarre name. (And the folks at Pitchfork agree! The link to the Pitchfork article, with its blunt leading line about the Worst Band Name of the Week award , is even prominently displayed on Gauntlet Hair’s own website .) Never mind all that. Apparently that combination of words doesn’t signal something dastardly medieval. The strangely-named, Denver-based duo Gauntlet Hair - [...]

The tune is admittedly a bit late 802s indie by numbers. That said, Top Bunk , does have a certain reverby charm to it and the video is very intriguing. It features chopped up footage from a variety of Arnold Schwarzenegger films. Check it out below: Gauntlet Hair - Top Bunk. from Neighborhood Watch on Vimeo . The Denver based duo released their debut eponymous album in October of this year. The album scored [...]
Check out the trippy homage to the former governor of California in this video for Gauntlet Hair's Top Bunk . The song appears on Gauntlet Hair's self-titled debut, which just came out in October.

Gauntlet Hair's " Top Bunk " still sounds amazingly good to this day, almost four months since we first talked about it. An accompanying then was long overdue. continue reading >>

Tweet Listen to the debut self-titled album by Gauntlet Hair below. Who has two thumbs, likes Gauntlet Hair (the band, not the style), and has waited a year and a half for this debut? This dude, right here. Gauntlet Hair 's debut album has been a long and agonising wait for myself and a host of others too after hearing their debut track "I Was Thinking" back in Spring of 2010 [...]

Tweet This new track from Gauntlet Hair is taken from their much-anticipated debut album "Gauntlet Hair", out via Dead Oceans on October 18th. The album's been a long-time-coming, especially after falling in love with the band about a year and a half ago , that's a long-assed time to wait. While their sound isn't for everyone, they do tend to focus on the noisier side of things, their melodies and giant chest-shaking beats have found favour in a crowd whose chests aren't shaking [...]
Gauntlet Hair sort of blew me out of the water last year with the "cavernous" track "Out, Don't..." Thus the upcoming release of their album on Dead Oceans (the sneering youngest sibling of the Secretly Canadian family) has me rubbing my hands in tense anticipation. "Top Bunk" builds upon their avant-pop mentality, infusing their more [...]

Our amigos over at GvB ran this lo-fi pop jam "Top Bunk" by Denver based band Gauntlet Hair a few days ago. The song has honestly taken me some time to get into, but I'm starting to enjoy it more and more with each listen. This song and 8 others will appear on the new self-titled album from the band due out October 18th on Dead Oceans . Download: Gauntlet Hair - Top Bunk [MP3]

Gauntlet Hair - Top Bunk This new Gauntlet Hair track is da bomb. Having listened to them for so long and finally able to see them live this past June I witnessed the stages of gaining a fan. At first the large majority of the crowd at the 930 Club weren’t sure what to make of them. There were snickers and cynical comments about their band name and your typical “WTF?!” looks at the start, but as the set went on, more and more heads started bobbin’ and people were into it. It was a [...]
Vor gut über einem Jahr hatte ich Gauntlet Hair das erste Mal hier im Blog vorgestellt. Ihre erste Single hieß entweder " I Was Thinking... " oder " All Eyes ".

Yesterday it was announced that Dead Oceans will be releasing Gauntlet Hair’s eponymous album on October 18th, preceded by this, “Top Bunk”, the album’s first single. It’s literally incomparable, a completely unique, reverb-sodden raga that’s driven by a confidence suggesting that they know how many incredible ideas they’ve compressed into just under 5 minutes of jaw-dropping music. Their eccentric rhythm is still intact, the track stuttering indecisively but somehow carrying it off as its own elaborate groove. What’s most to Gauntlet Hair’s credit is exactly what they’ve done best on their previous material; no matter how [...]

Gauntlet Hair's first two tracks 'I Was Thinking...' and 'Out, Dont,' and the snowy video for the former, were beginning to feel like the world's loudest tease until I chanced onto GvsB five seconds ago. And now I've got three of their songs and a release date for their self-titled debut; it's out October 18th on Dead Oceans . Before you start listening to first single Top Bunk (aka where the cool kids sleep) below, turn the headphones or the hi-fi way up, your laptop speakers are going to do it justice. Top Bunk shows [...]
