While Phish fans are eagerly awaiting the news of new summer tour dates (including a very likely slot at this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival), frontman Trey Anastasio is busy performing with symphonies on his first ever orchestral tour. In a profile of the chamber sextet yMusic that was published in today's New York Times , it's revealed that the group participated in a recording session with Trey Anastasio . Trey's new solo album, expected this fall, also contains contributions from members of the National and Mates of State as well as Anastasio's solo band. Noted producer Peter Katis is co-producing the album with Big Red, which was recorded at Katis's Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Conn.

It's safe to say that a majority of our readers are quite familiar with the musical history of Port Chester, New York's Capitol Theatre . Built in 1926 and designed by the architect Thomas W. Lamb, who also designed the United Palace Theater in Upper Manhattan, the theater may be most famous for hosting the Grateful Dead an astonishing 18 times during an 11-month period, but also saw just about every major and influential music act grace its stage from Pink Floyd, Traffic, Joe Cocker and Janis Joplin (who played her next-to-last show there) in the early 19702s to [...]
The National just wrapped a five-night stand at the Beacon - maybe you livestreamed the final night - a run of shows which brings back memories to the Allman Brothers heyday. But it was a different jamband that's been most associated with Berninger and friends lately: reports have been circulating that Phish's Trey Anastasio is working on a solo album with members of the National (and Mates Of State). Those reports got a live component on Friday night. According to Jambands.com , Trey joined the band on "Blood Buzz Ohio," "Squalor Victoria," and [...]

The big news of the weekend in our world was Phish frontman Trey Anastasio's sit-in with The National at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Friday night. When SPIN Magazine revealed that Big Red has been working with members of The National, as well as Mates of State and TAB, on his forthcoming, Peter Katis-produced solo album, rumors started to fly about Trey making a guest appearance at The National's six-night Beacon Theatre run. The 2011 edition of the Bear Creek Arts & Music Festival kicks off in less than a week at the beautiful Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida with a half-day of performances on Wednesday, November 9, before full slates on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Often referred to as "Jam Cruise on land," there's a reason both performers and attendees leave Live Oak raving about the experience. There's a family atmosphere which has been nurtured by organizers since the event's first year and they intend to keep it that way despite Bear Creek's continued growth. [...]

Photos : Jeremy Smith Funny how often the best things in the world of Phish and the Trey Anastasio Band , affectionately known as TAB, simply go unnoticed. In chatting this past weekend with Hidden Track Editor extraordinaire, Scott Bernstein, about HT's 5th Anniversary and the 1st of Postcards From Page Side, we were both scratching our heads on the lack of TAB coverage from this mini-tour that just wrapped up, making this week's column a no-brainer as to what to cover. I caught one TAB show this tour, on the eve of my 31st Birthday, [...]
Our writing conquered the chasm...the rift. The thing we did best and did forever, songwriting, reignited our friendship. -Tom Marshall about "Backwards Down the Number Line" and the story about how Trey and him reunited and brought back that writing period in Trey that spawned the 2009 reunion. I personally found that rather touching. Related [...]

Our buddy Brent Cebul caught Trey and company down in Charlottesville on Saturday night for the Trey Anastasio Band fall tour closer. Check out his photos, his take on the show and the evening's setlist. Trey Anastasio brought his band to Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend, closing out their short fall run. It was a beautiful and lazy fall Saturday in central Virginia, and Trey's usual following made the brick-paved Charlottesville Downtown Mall their own. But the frenzy that follows Phish was notably absent. Relaxed, [...]
Happy Monday, folks. I'm catching up on some news from the weekend and scouring YouTube for any heady jams that have been finding themselves in the Trey Anastasio Band sets as of late. The band played The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC on Friday night and we'll have photos up a little bit later from the show the following night in Charlottesville, but in the meantime let's take a look at how the weekend got started for the lucky fans in attendance. First up is a video: I forget how good "Gotta Jibboo" can sound [...]
